They found her hanging from the ceiling fan at around 12.30 PM, he said. Her daughter then informed police.

A case of suspicious death under Section 174 (suicide) of CrPC was registered at the Jubilee Hills police station, police said.

A post-mortem was conducted at the state-run Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in the city and the body was handed over to family members, hospital sources said. She had pledged her eyes.

Uma Maheswari is the youngest of NTR's daughters and younger among his 12 children, sources said.

She lived with her husband, who was out of station at the time of the incident, in an apartment at posh Jubilee Hills in the city. Her husband returned by Monday afternoon, police said.

Balakrishna, a well-known Tollywood actor and TDP lawmaker, Chandrababu Naidu and his son, and other family members flocked Uma's home.

NTR, the actor turned politician, was referred to as one of the tallest politicians. He founded the TDP in 1982 under the banner of Telugu pride and brought the party to power in nine months.

He passed away at 72, a few months after being overthrown by a coup orchestrated by his son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu, IANS reported.NTR has eight sons and four daughters. Uma was&nbsp;the youngest of all of them.

At Uma Maheshwari’s wedding recently, a large number of family members attended. Three of NTR’s sons have already passed away, including actor and former minister N. Harikrishna.

Actress Meera Chopra, best known for starring in legal drama 'Section 375', on Wednesday said she was bombarded with threats of violence and rape on social media after she said she did not know about south film star Junion NTR and was a fan of Mahesh Babu. 
 
The actress, who is Priyanka Chopra's cousin, had recently held a chat session - #AskMeera - with her fans on Twitter in which she was asked about her favourite actor from South cinema. The actress admitted she was a bigger fan of Mahesh Babu than Junior NTR after which she started receiving abusive messages on Twitter.

"I conducted 'Ask Meera' session on Twitter and a fan asked me about my favourite actor from the south film industry. I said Mahesh Babu. Then somebody asked if I liked Junior NTR, and I said I don't know him and I'm not a fan. That's it. 
"As soon as I said that, I was bombarded with abuses, murder threats, rape threats, character assassination and threats against my parents. Some morphed my face with porn actors. I've got close to 30,000 abusive tweets so far," Meera said in a statement. 
 
The actress said she will be taking strict action in this matter. 
 
"I am already in talks with the cyber cell team. I've always advocated that women should fight for themselves and stand against what's wrong. Then how can I not do anything about this. 
 
"You cannot character assassinate a woman, give threats, and abuse her for sharing her choice. I have to raise my voice against such fan clubs" Meera said. 
 
The 36-year-old actor said she feels sad for superstars who have such a toxic fanbase. The stars should address such fan clubs instead of staying quiet. The actress even tagged Junior NTR on some of the abusive tweets and hopes that he "responds to his fans". 
 
Junior NTR, whose real name is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, is a Telugu cinema star and the grandson of legendary actor-politician N. T. Rama Rao, who was known among his fans as NTR. 
 
This isn't the first time that an actress has been targetted by fans of a south star. In 2018, Malayalam actress Parvathy received similar threats when she called out Mammooty's film 'Kasaba' for its misogyny.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made Nandamuri Suhasini, who is contesting from Kukatpally constituency on a TDP ticket, a 'scapegoat' by fielding her from a 'losing' segment, Telangana caretaker IT and Industries minister K T Rama Rao has alleged.

Speaking at a roadshow at Kukatpally on Thursday, the TRS leader lashed out at Telugu Desam Party and its chief Naidu, questioning as to why Naidu's son and AP Minister N Lokesh was not asked to contest the seat.

Suhasini is the daughter of former Rajya Sabha MP N Hari Krishna and grand-daughter of TDP founder and former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao.

"If Chandrababu Naidu really loves the Nandamuri family, why didn't he appoint Suhasini as a Minister in Andhra Pradesh, like he appointed Lokesh? If Chandrababu Naidu really wants to strengthen TDP in Telangana, he could have made Lokesh contest from Kukatpally. But he did not, because he knows Kukatpally is a losing seat," the TRS leader alleged.

In a dramatic turn of events, Naidu decided to field Suhasini from Kukatpally ignoring senior party leader E Peddireddy, who evinced interest in contesting from the constituency.

Rubbishing K T Rama Rao's remarks, Peddireddy said it was the party's decision to field Suhasini from Kukatpally and people in the constituency are accepting her.

He also said Lokesh is now a minister in the Andhra government and he chose Andhra Pradesh for his political career.

"Lokesh chose AP for his political career. He is a minister there. How will he contest from here. Suhasini belongs to the NTR family. People are accepting her in Kukatpally. KTR was talking in desperation," Peddireddy said.

Naidu wants to make Suhasini a scapegoat and later prevent her brothers (Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram) from entering politics, the TRS leader alleged.

Talking about alliance between the Congress and TDP, Rama Rao said, NTR's soul would be 'troubled' seeing the alliance and sought to know on what basis did they form an alliance.

Justifying the TRS alliance with TDP in the 2009 elections, Rama Rao said they tied up with the TDP only after the latter assured to support separate Telangana statehood.

"Naidu today is asking why he is being criticised. Was he not the one who tried to poach TRS MLAs? Was he not the one who wrote letters to the Centre, creating hurdles in irrigation project works," the TRS leader asked.

The TRS leader the support of the people asking them to vote for the paryt and said, "development in Kukatpally will come to a halt if TRS doesn't come to power."

Elections to the 119-member Telangana assembly are scheduled to be held on December 7.
