As the 65th National Film Awards were announced today, actress Taapsee Pannu spoke about her film receiving an award.&nbsp;

The film Ghazi won the Best Telugu award in New Delhi. Taapsee was elated on the news and said, “This is the third time I have had the opportunity to be a part of a National Award-winning film. Even though I had a special appearance in the film, it was personally a very satisfying part for me as an actor. I’m ecstatic with the news about the film winning the National Award Honour.”

Taapsee Pannu gained fame in the Hindi entertainment industry with her performance in Pink along with Amitabh Bachchan that dealt with the story of assault, women’s struggle against the system and getting justice. In a statement to a leading daily, Pankaj revealed how the feeling hasn't sunk in yet. He said, "The feeling hasn’t sunk in yet. See, I understand the craft, so I always wanted challenges as an actor. I will be more responsible now.”

He added, “Saurabh Shukla told me about the award. I am in Lucknow right now. It just made my day that such a grand jury has recognized my work. Every actor wants the National Film Award, it was always in my list. I am happy and feeling really humbled.”

He also vouched that he won't do any senseless movies from now on as he feels more responsible after the mention. He said, &nbsp;“I won’t do the films that won’t make sense. I will only do the films that would appeal me. I won’t get into the number game anymore. If the artist inside me would feel like doing a project then only I would do it. I am more serious about my work now.”

This year, Pankaj was seen in films like Anaarkali Of Aarah, Newton among others.

Nearly two months after her accidental death, actress Sridevi was awarded her first National Film Award for her performance in 'Mom'.

The announcement was made on Friday by by Jury Head Shekhar Kapur and other members of the panel.

Directed by Ravi Udyavar, Mom had Sridevi playing a mother who seeks revenge from those who raped her daughter.

Amit Masurakr's critically acclaimed film Newton- starring Rajkummar Rao- was adjudged Best Hindi Film of 2017. The film also fetched actor Pankaj Tripathi a special mention.

The film narrates the story of an honest election officer who succesfully conducts elections in Naxal area in Chattisgarh.

Young Bengali actor Ridhi Sen&nbsp; was declared the Best Actor for a film called Nagarkirtan.

SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion won adjudged Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment

Late actor Vinod Khanna, who died in 2017, was given the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Other notable mentions were AR RAhman who won the all the music awards- Best Music for Mani Ratnam's Kaatru Veliyidai and Best Background Score for Mom.

65th National Film Awards: Sridevi wins Best Actress for 'Mom', 'Newton' Best Film

New Delhi: Veteran director Shekhar Kapur has been appointed chairman of the central panel of the 65th National Film Awards, sources in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said on Wednesday.&nbsp 
 
The central panel comprises a chairperson and 10 other members, including five regional chairpersons who head the respective regional panels. 
 
Film writer Imtiaz Hussain, known for his works in films like Astitva&nbsp(2000) and Parinda&nbsp(1989) will be the regional chairperson of South panel. Mehboob, who penned the lyrics for the Hindi (dubbed) version of 1995 Tamil romantic drama Bombay, was appointed as the regional chairperson of South II panel, the sources said. 
 
Actress Gautami Tadimalla, who is known for her work in Tamil films, is the regional chairman of the North panel, while director Rahul Rawail known for films like "Love Story" (1981), "Betaab" (1983), "Arjun" (1985) and "Jo Bole So Nihaal" (2005), was chosen as the regional chairperson of the Western panel, they said. 
 
Director P Sheshadri, a known name in Kannada cinema, is the regional chairperson of Eastern panel. 
 
Other members of the panel include Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, a Bengali and Hindi film director playwright Tripurari Sharma dialogue and script writer Rumi Jaffery Ranjit Das known for the critically acclaimed film "Pratyavartan" and film writer, director and producer Rajesh Mapuskar, the sources added.

The actress received a special mention for her critically-lauded performance.
