Raj Thackeray said that the defeat doesn’t mean he would lose heart and give up. Though Raj’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) could win just six seats in the BMC elections, he vowed to keep fighting for his state and Marathis.

BMC elections 2026 saw a big turnout speciallly from the Bollywood fraternity. However, some of the big names like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Madhuri Dixit skipped voting on Thursday.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray alleged irregularities in the BMC elections, claiming removable ink allowed double voting and urged vigilance. The BMC denied the allegations, stating indelible ink was applied as per rules, even as videos of ink removal circulated online.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are underway in Mumbai. Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Gulzar and Suniel Shetty were some of the early voters on Thursday morning at various polling booths across Mumbai.

Polling is underway for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, India’s richest civic body, after an eight-year gap. Voting began at 7:30 am to elect 277 ward members, with over 1.03 crore voters eligible. The BJP-led Mahayuti faces a united Thackeray camp as civic polls are held across Maharashtra.
