At about&nbsp;11 a.m. on Tuesday, a group of representatives from the Income Tax Department showed up at the BBC offices. Reports said that the probe was related to BBC subsidiary firms' foreign taxes issues.

Certain employees were asked for financial information, and the officers made copies of electronic and paper records from the news organisation. The BBC ordered its staff members not to erase any data from their electronic devices while the survey teams gathered evidence.

In addition, Teen Murti Chowk was&nbsp;renamed Teen Murti Haifa Chowk in 2018. There have been numerous suggestions to rename Akbar Road, but nothing has been implemented as of yet.

The Central Vista redevelopment project, the nation's power corridor, also calls for a new triangular Parliament building, a shared central secretariat, a new prime minister's mansion, an office for the prime minister, and a new vice-presidential enclave.

The Modi government has asked Indian citizens to avoid sharing photocopy of Aadhaar card in a new advsiory.

"Do not share a photocopy of your Aadhaar with any organisation as it can be misused. Alternatively, please use a masked Aadhaar which displays only the last four digits of your Aadhaar number," the government said in a press release.

To download this version, Indian citizens can select “Do you want a masked Aadhaar” option on the official website of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

According to the notice issued by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, unlicensed private entities are like hotels and film halls are not allowed to collect or keep copies of Aadhaar card.

Before sharing Aadhar cards with any organisation, Indian citizens should verify if it has a valid user license from UIDAI.

Advising people to avoid using public computers for downloading their Aadhar cards, the advisory said that "If you do so, please ensure that you delete all the downloaded copies of e-Aadhaar permanently from that computer."

To verify any Aadhar card number online people can visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar and for offline verficiation, they can scan the QR code on e-Aadhaar or Aadhaar letter or Aadhaar PVC card using QR code scanner in the mAadhaar mobile application.

Aadhaar is a biometric identification card that is becoming integral to the digitisation of India’s economy, with over 1.1 billion users and the world’s biggest database.

Indians have been asked to furnish their Aadhaar numbers for a host of transactions including accessing bank accounts, paying taxes, receiving subsidies, acquiring a mobile number, settling a property deal, and registering a marriage.

The Indian government has prohibited state owned telecommunication company BSNL from sourcing upgradation gear from Chinese companies including Huawei, marking India's first economic sanction on China after the Glawan valley skirmish.

The telecom department will soon also cancel a 4G telecom equipment tender floated by state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) and rework it to keep out Chinese vendors, the official said.

Once signed off, the order will deal a body blow to the Indian operations of Huawei and ZTE who will thus be barred from the country’s commercial 5G deployments.

Currently, industry estimates peg the annual market for Indian telecom equipment to be around Rs12,000 crore, of which Chinese players account for roughly a fourth. The rest of the market comprises mainly of Sweden’s Ericsson, Finland’s Nokia and Korea’s Samsung. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea work with both Huawei and ZTE,&nbsp;besides the European vendors, while Reliance Jio works with Samsung.

The government's decision came amid a huge tension at Ladakh, where 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with Chinese troops on Monday evening. This was the first time in nearly five decades that fatalities were reported at the Line of Actual Control, the de facto border with China.

Earlier, the Telecom Ministry had directed all of the entities under its purview to restrict their purchases to 'Made in India' products.

As per the latest inputs, the Telecom Ministry has asked BSNL, MTNL and other subsidiaries to avoid Chinese equipment in upgradation. In addition, the Ministry has also directed all concerned departments to make the purchase of goods manufactured in India as their topmost priority as part of the Centre's push for "Aatmanirbhar Bharat".
