Overall, inflation in the food basket was 2.81 per cent, lower than 3.26 per cent in February.

The CSO data further revealed that inflation in the fuel and light segment also came in lower at 5.73 per cent month-on-month basis.&nbsp;

Safdarjung recorded 38.6 degrees. Both were the highest recorded March temperatures at the respective stations since 2010.&nbsp

The readings were as much as eight degrees above normal at Palam and seven at Safdarjung.&nbsp

The weather was dry with a clear sky and no rains. While Tuesday saw a maximum temperature of 38.8 degrees Celsius, the IMD (India Meteorological Department) forecast a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius for Thursday.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday called out PM Modi saying that it was a two-minute job for him to solve the sealing crisis in Delhi.&nbsp;

He reiterated that if there was no solution for the sealing issue till 31 March, he would sit on a hunger strike in support of city traders.&nbsp;

&ldquo;I wrote to PM Modi seeking time on sealing issue but he never responded, it is a two-minute job for him to solve this crises&quot;, Kejriwal said in assembly on the first day of the budget session. &ldquo;If sealing is not stopped by March 31st, we will sit on strike with the traders,&rdquo; he added.

Kejriwal, last week, &nbsp;wrote to the prime minister and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, seeking time for a meeting to resolve the sealing issue.

In the letter, Kejriwal mentioned that &quot;the reasons behind the sealing are anomalies in the law and it is the Centre&#39;s responsibility to remove the anomalies.&quot;

He stressed over the depleting condition of traders in the state, adding that they are on the verge of starvation and unemployment will impact law and order. &nbsp;

When you (Centre) can bring an ordinance on Jallikattu, but why cannot you bring the ordinance to give relief to traders of Delhi from the sealing drive? &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t have any objection with it (Jallikattu)...I request the Centre to do whatever it can do to stop the sealing,&rdquo; the chief minister said.

About 2,490 properties were sealed in the national capital by the four local bodies since December for violation of Delhi&#39;s Master Plan 2021, the parliament was informed on Thursday.

Kejriwal said that in next two-three days, the government will submit a survey report on 351 roads, submitted by municipal corporations, to the Supreme Court and once the city administration gets nod, it would issue a notification to ensure that there is no sealing on these roads in future.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday called out PM Modi saying that it was a two-minute job for him to solve the sealing crisis in Delhi. He reiterated that if there was no solution for the sealing issue till 31 March, he would sit on a hunger strike in support of city traders. “I wrote to PM Modi seeking time on sealing issue but he never responded, it is a two-minute job for him to solve this crises", Kejriwal said in assembly on the first day of the budget session. “If sealing is not stopped by March 31st, we will sit on strike with the traders,” he added. Kejriwal, last week, wrote to the prime minister and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, seeking time for a meeting to resolve the sealing issue. In the letter, Kejriwal mentioned that "the reasons behind the sealing are anomalies in the law and it is the Centre's responsibility to remove the anomalies." He stressed over the depleting condition of traders in the state, adding that they are on the verge of starvation and unemployment will impact law and order. Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal threatens to sit in on strike again

An Indian court today sentenced a Bollywood director to seven years in jail for raping an American research scholar last year, the victim&#39;s lawyer said. 
 
Mahmood Farooqui, best known for co-directing the popular 2010 satire Peepli Live on farmer suicides, was convicted on Saturday after a fast-track court in New Delhi found him guilty of the March 2015 attack. 
 
The victim, then aged 35, had travelled to India to seek Farooqui&#39;s assistance with her research when the assault took place at his home in an upscale area of the capital.&nbsp; 
 
&quot;The court sentenced him to seven years (of imprisonment), which is the minimum jail term for this offence,&quot; the victim&#39;s lawyer, Vrinda Grover, told AFP. 
 
Grover, who had argued for the maximum term of life imprisonment, said the court had also imposed a 50,000 Rupee ($747) fine. 
 
Farooqui, who pleaded not guilty, was taken into custody at the weekend. 
 
The woman returned to the US shortly after the incident but came back to report the matter to police. 
 
&quot;Peepli Live&quot;, which explores the divide between urban and rural India, was produced by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. 
 
Farooqui co-directed it with his wife, Anusha Rizwi.
