A woman was allegedly strangled to death and then her body chopped into 40 to 50 pieces by a 25-year-old man, who was her live-in partner and a butcher by profession.&nbsp;

The body parts were found in a forested area in the Khunti district of the Indian state of Jharkhand, said the police on Wednesday (Nov&nbsp;27).

The accused was identified as Naresh Bhengra and was arrested by the police. The incident came to light nearly a fortnight after the killing when human body parts were found with a stray dog near Jordag village in Jariagarh police station on November 24.

The 24-year-old woman was in a live-in relationship with Bhengra for the past couple of years&nbsp;in Tamil Nadu. During this period, the man had gone to Jharkhand once and married another woman without informing his partner.

"The brutal incident occurred on November 8 when they reached Khunti as the accused who had married another woman did not wish to take her home. Instead, he took her to a forest near his house at Jordag village in Jariagarh police station and chopped the body into pieces. The man has been arrested," said Khunti Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar, while speaking to PTI.

According to Inspector Ashok Singh, who has been investigating the case, the man used to work in a butcher shop in Tamil Nadu and was very good at slicing chicken.

"He admitted chopping the body parts of the woman into 40 to 50 pieces before leaving those in the forest for wild animals to feast on. The police recovered several parts on November 24 after a dog in the area was seen with a hand," said Singh, while speaking to PTI.

He added that the woman was pressurising the accused to take her back to Khunti with him. When they reached Ranchi, the two got off a train on November 24 and headed to the village of the man.

"Under a plan, the man took her to Khunti in an autorickshaw near his home and asked her to wait. He returned with sharp weapons and strangled her with her dupatta after raping her. He then cut the body into 40 to 50 pieces and left for his home to live with his wife," said Singh.

The police have now registered a case against the IRS officer&nbsp;and&nbsp;an investigation has&nbsp; been&nbsp;opened. Police are also scrutinising CCTV footage from the society and mobile phones of the two individuals in connection with the case.

Police officials said he&nbsp;has&nbsp;been remanded&nbsp;to judicial custody.

"All aspects of the case are being investigated meticulously," said Manish Kumar Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Noida.

Officials are waiting for the post-mortem to ascertain the cause of the death.

The accused, identified as Lallan Yadav, aged 35, during police interrogation, admitted to having killed his partner under the influence of alcohol.

The police said that the man resorted to violence and hit his partner with a belt and hammer after the deceased, identified as Anjali, aged 32, refused to make egg curry.

Lallan Yadav, a native of Aurahi village in Bihar's Madhepura district, was arrested by a team of Palam Vihar Police Station from Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan area after the caretaker of the building filed a police complaint on spotting the body.

Anjali, a ragpicker, was found dead on Wednesday in the under-construction house in Chauma.

The police, as per news agency PTI reports, said that both Yadav and Anjali were brought to the site on March 10 from the Gurugram bus stand.

When hiring the two, Yadav and Anjali did not disclose their correct names, addresses, and IDs.

During his questioning with the police, he revealed that his wife had succumbed to a snake bite nearly six years ago, after which he moved to Delhi.

He then said that he met Anjali about seven months ago and started living with her while the two worked as labourers, said the police.

"After killing her, he fled. We have recovered the hammer and belt which were used in the murder and are questioning the accused," Naveen Kumar, ACP, Palam Vihar, said.&nbsp;

The top court said this while quashing an FIR lodged by a Maharashtra-based nurse against a doctor, who was in a live-in relationship "for quite some time".

"Thus, there is a clear distinction between rape and consensual sex. The court, in such cases, must very carefully examine whether the complainant had actually wanted to marry the victim or had mala fide motives and had made a false promise to this effect only to satisfy his lust, as the later falls within the ambit of cheating or deception," a bench of Justices A K Sikri and S Abdul Nazeer said in a recent verdict.

The bench also said that if "the accused has not made the promise with the sole intention to seduce the prosecutrix (woman) to indulge in sexual acts, such an act would not amount to rape".

According to the FIR, the woman, a widow, had fallen in love with the doctor and they started living together.

"There may be a case where the prosecutrix agrees to have sexual intercourse on account of her love and passion for the accused and not solely on account of the misconception created by accused, or where an accused, on account of circumstances which he could not have foreseen or which were beyond his control, was unable to marry her despite having every intention to do. Such cases must be treated differently," the bench said.

It said if the man had any mala fide intention or clandestine motives, then it was a clear case of rape.

"The acknowledged consensual physical relationship between the parties would not constitute an offence under section 376 (rape) of the IPC," the bench said.

Referring to the facts of the case, the court said they were living together for quite some time and when the woman came to know that the man had married someone else, she lodged the complaint.

"We are of the view that, even if the allegations made in the complaint are taken at their face value and accepted in their entirety, they do not make out a case against the appellant (doctor)," the bench said.

The man had approached the top court against the verdict of the Bombay High Court which had dismissed his plea seeking quashing of the FIR lodged against him.
