The two comedians have been at loggerheads since last year when there was a spat between them during a flight

Will Indian comedians who have been at loggerheads with each other since last year ever give it a break? The most honest answer as of now can be 'no'. Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover who behave like friends-turned-foe are back at slinging abuses and pulling each other's pants down, one tweet at a time. According to media reports, Kapil Sharma was scheduled to shoot for the teaser of his show on Monday

Kapil Sharma is finally returning to television in March with his show "The Kapil Sharma Show." × According to media reports Kapil Sharma was scheduled to shoot for his teaser of the show on Monday. The show will be broadcast on the same channel, Sony television. Reports say that the entire team will remain same except Sunil Grover who won't be part of this season. Sunil Grover was considered to be the most entertaining comedian and this is the second time he left the show due to his personal conflicts with Kapil Sharma. In 2017 after Sunil Grover left the show there were comedians who also left the show which affected the show's TRP going very low. After the reports of Kapil Sharma falling ill in August 2017, Kapil Sharma and the channel mutually decided to take a break and the show went off air. Kapil Sharma is yet to make an official announcement on the format and the title of the show. Kapil Sharma was last seen in a film "Firangi" which did not perform well at the box office.

Kapil Sharma to return to television in March

For a TV star, Firangi is an ambitious project. Kapil Sharma's second big outing at the movies has him playing a do-gooder, slow-witted orderly of a British Officer in 1920's Punjab. Sharma turns producer for the period film and one can see how desperate he is to come out of his set image of a comic. Which is why Firangi is an ambitious film for the stand-up comic-turned-actor. It's a gamble that Sharma plays with but the result is not necessarily a good one.

In love with Sragi (Ishita Dutta ), Sharma's character Manga wants to win her and her family over and get married. Sharma's boss, British Officer Daniel though wants the village to be evacuated as he wants to set up a liquor factory there in partnership with the local king Inderjeet (Kumud Mishra) While the King and Daniel want to use Manga as their pawn against the villagers, Manga wants to be other side and win his love.

Now, on paper, the story may have looked good but implementing on the big screen is a whole new ball game. The plot is oversimplified, the climax has a hilarious nationalism angle to it and one can't decide as to which genre the film falls into. The narrative keeps oscillating between comedy and drama in 160 minutes of its runtime.

Sharma, who rose to superstardom on television because of his comedy show, tries hard to step out of his comfort zone. Which in itself is a blunder. He is still new to films and ideally should be doing what he does best. But what Firangi gives us is a straight face Kapil Sharma who tries hard to romance a much younger looking Ishita Dutta. Their scenes together lack any chemistry and they look rather unconvincing as a couple. In fact, Dutta barely has anything to do in the film and is almost missing in the greater part of second half. Sharma also ropes in Anjjan Srivastav and Rajesh Sharma- two versatile actors- but they too are let down due to poor writing. The only person who shines in this sordid film is Kumud Mishra as the corrupt King but he alone can't make the film good.

Firangi ultimately suffers because of poor writing and poor editing. It could have been easily half an hour shorter and the screenplay could have been dealt a bit maturely. It is also sad that the writers do not use Sharma's quick wit to their advantage and one can see the comedian spark only in few scenes.

So, is the film all bad. Not quite. Cinematographer Navneet Misser paints a beautiful canvas and Punjab countryside comes alive in some long shots. The music by Jatinder Shah is soulful. The songs have folksy tunes and are definitely hummable.

If you have watched Kapil Sharma's previous films- and been disappointed, Firangi will appeal to you. But that does not give director Rajiev Dhingra and the team the excuse to make such a poorly written, underwhelming film.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati was being touted as the big release of 2017. Amid a slew of controversies, the makers decided to defer the film. The postponement may have affected the team of Padmavati, but it has surely worked in favour of other smaller films.

Earlier, Padmavati was scheduled to release on December 1. Smaller films had to pace out their release accordingly, considering the hype and interest around Bhansali's film. But with release date deferred many films have now moved their release dates.

Kapil Sharma's Firangi was earlier slated for a November 24th release but is now reportedly being released on December 1. The film is yet to get a CBFC certification which is likely to come by today, DNA reported. If the certification comes on time then the film would be releasing this week. But makers have also been considering December 1 as a release date, as more theaters will be available for the film. A trade source told DNA, “Firangi will have two weeks’ run before Fukrey 2 releases. That will boost the film’s collections as there’s no other film to compete with. The film will get a good breathing space.”

Meanwhile Fukrey 2, which was earlier to release on December 15th will now release on December 8th. The film's producer, Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday. "Going back to our original release date of 8th December."

Interestingly, Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Monsoon Shootout has also preponed its release date to December 8th. according to a source close to the film, "The film's content is strong and the makers are certain if they get a longer period at the box office, it will help them benefit from it before another major release comes by”.

Monsoon Shootout has been directed by Amit Kumar and is a story of a rookie cop and his struggle to make a choice to convict a suspect. The film premiered in 2013 at Cannes and was nominated for the Golden Camera Award. The film also stars Tanishtha Chatterjee and Neeraj Kabi in pivotal roles. The film has been produced by Guneet Monga and Anurag Kashyap and has Asif Kapadia as the executive producer.
While makers of Padmavati have not confirmed the new release date of the film, rumours have it that the film will be releasing in the first part of 2018. As of now, the big release that is expected to do well at the box office this year is Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai which releases on December 22.
Smaller films had to pace out their release earlier, considering the hype and interest around Bhansali's film

The film will get a good breathing space.” Meanwhile Fukrey 2, which was earlier to release on December 15th will now release on December 8th. The film's producer, Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday. "Going back to our original release date of 8th December." Monsoon Shootout has been directed by Amit Kumar and is a story of a rookie cop and his struggle to make a choice to convict a suspect.
