<p>The Water Transport Workers Federation of India (WTWFI), which represents over 3,500 workers at 11 major national ports, declared last week its refusal&nbsp;to loading and unloading services for ships carrying armaments or weapons to Israel.</p>

<p>However, the union said the decision was completely symbolic and they have not encountered any such ship carrying weapons to Israel.</p>

<p>“Port workers, part of labour unions would always stand against the war and killing innocent people like women and children. The recent attack of Israel on Gaza plunging thousands of Palestinians into immense suffering and loss. Women and children have been blown to pieces in the war. Parents were unable to recognise their children killed in bombings which were exploding everywhere," the union added in its press release.</p>

<p>For Algeria’s proposal to get adopted, at least nine members need to vote in favour, in addition to no vetoes by the permanent members—the US, UK, China, Russia and France.</p>

‘Time running out fast,’ Hamas warns hostages in Gaza ‘struggling to survive’

<p>Five patients on Friday (Feb 16) died due to lack of medical oxygen at a Gaza hospital&nbsp;that was raided by Israeli authorities earlier this week, the Hamas-run health ministry in the blockaded Palestinian enclave said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The generators of the complex stopped and the power was cut off," the ministry said, raising fears over the fate of six other patients in intensive care and three children in a nursery at the Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis.</p>

<p>Hamas-run health ministry said that they hold Israel responsible for the lives of patients and staff since the entire Nasser hospital complex is allegedly under Israeli control.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Later in the day, the Hamas-run health ministry released another statement, which said that&nbsp;"a fifth patient at Nasser hospital was martyred as a result of the stopping of generators that caused a cut in oxygen supply."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Israeli military is yet to address the reports of the fatalities at the hospital.</p>

<p>The US military recently conducted a cyberattack against an alleged 'Iranian spy ship' which had been operating near the Chinese military base in Djibouti. The ship, named the MV Behshad, had allegedly been collecting information on cargo vessels in the Red Sea and communicating the same to the Houthi rebels in Yemen.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Three US officials were quoted as saying by media reports that the cyberattack was in response to the drone attack by Iran-backed militias that killed three US service members in Jordan and wounded dozens of others.</p>

<h2><strong>The purpose of the attack</strong></h2>

<p>The US officials said the attack was carried out to sabotage the ship’s ability to transfer intel to the Houthi rebels, who were utilising the information to attack vessels in the Red Sea more effectively.&nbsp;The ship was reportedly operating near the port of Djibouti close to the Chinese military base.</p>

<p>Analysts believe that Iran may have chosen to move the ship near the Chinese base to discourage the US from carrying out a physical attack or boarding the vessel.</p>

<h2><strong>Iran’s stance</strong></h2>

<p>Iran denies that the ship was being used for military purposes. In a statement to NBC news, Iran’s UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, said the Behshad is in the Red Sea “to combat the piracy activities” and is not providing intelligence to Houthi forces.</p>
