The “Mohajer-10” is said to be an upgraded version of the “Mohajer-6,” which the officials in the United States have accused Iran of selling to Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine. Iran has since denied these accusations.&nbsp;

According to the official IRNA news agency, the new drone “can fly up to a maximum duration of 24 hours at an altitude of 7,000 metres with an operational range of 2,000 kilometres.”&nbsp;

The payload capacity can reach 300 kilogrammes, double the capacity of the “Mohajer-6” drone allowing it to carry “all kinds of bombs and ammunitions,” IRNA reported.

The unmanned aerial vehicle can also travel at a speed of up to 210 km per hour and is reportedly equipped with enhanced electronic and intelligence systems. Meanwhile, the “Mohajer-6” drone can hold a 150-kg payload and fly for 12 hours.&nbsp;

The previous model also had a lower flight altitude of 5,400 metres and could travel at a speed of 200 km per hour.&nbsp;

<h2>A warning to region arch foes?</h2>

A report by Reuters citing a video released by the Iranian media on Tuesday, which showcased the new drone along with other military hardware, displayed the text saying “prepare your shelters” in both Hebrew and Persian.&nbsp;

The ceremony celebrating the achievements of the country’s defence industry was held in Tehran and was also attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The purported video’s text seemingly reflects simmering tensions between arch-foes Iran and Israel.&nbsp;

On Monday (August 21), Israeli Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged that a series of recent deadly attacks against Israelis has been funded and encouraged by Iran. The statement came hours after an Israeli woman was shot dead by suspected Palestinian gunmen in the occupied West Bank.&nbsp;

“We are in the midst of a terror attack. This terror attack is encouraged, guided, funded by Iran and its satellite states,” said Netanyahu, adding that Israel would take measures to settle the score with the attackers and those who sent them.&nbsp;

On July 11, Sullivan claimed that Iran was preparing to sell hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including weapons-capable drones, to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.&nbsp;

For days thereafter, this bit of fake news continued to be disseminated, amplified, embellished and padded with more ‘information’ to impress how dangerous the deal was. Satellite images of Russians at an Iranian airfield were put out to buttress the fake news. Sullivan kept up the bluff by repeating it, on July 16, when US President Joe Biden was in Saudi Arabia for his West Asia summit. Biden’s four-day trip was to rally Arab leaders against Iran by showing it to be Russia’s collaborator in its war against Ukraine. &nbsp;

But eventually, Biden’s summit turned out to be a flop show. There were no takers for the US president’s proposals. Biden’s failure to make any headway on his visit or bind a clutch of leaders against Tehran led to a revival of the talks on the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), which the US under Donald Trump had jettisoned.&nbsp;

The absence of any takers for the fake news eventually made the White House declare, on July 29, that the US has no evidence of an Iran-Russia deal for drones. It noted that “no signs of purchase” have been observed, even weeks after Sullivan’s claim.&nbsp;

Kirby did the backtracking in a bid to undo the damage caused by this intelligence media stunt. He said that the White House has not seen any deal “that has been actually affected”. And, for good measure, added: “We’ve seen no indications of any sort of actual delivery and/or purchase of Iranian drones by the Russian Ministry of Defence.”&nbsp;

"We are confident we brought down one drone, we may have brought down a second," General Kenneth McKenzie, the CENTCOM commander, told CBS news in an interview aboard the USS Boxer, the vessel at the center of the incident.

"As always it was a complex tactical picture, we believe two drones. We believe two drones were successfully — there may have been more that we are not aware of — those are the two that we engaged successfully," McKenzie said.&nbsp;

CBS said the drones were reportedly brought down by an electronic signal or pulse that disabled their flight controls. One drone disappeared from US military radars while the second was seen hitting the water.

Iran, which last month shot down a US Predator drone that it said had ventured into its airspace, has denied that it lost any of its own unmanned aerial vehicles, after President Donald Trump announced that the USS Boxer had downed one.&nbsp;

Amid soaring tensions in the region, Trump said he had called off strikes against Iran at the last minute in response to the destruction of the US drone.

A series of attacks on oil tankers in the strategically vital waterway, as well as Iran's seizure of a British-flagged tanker in retaliation for Britain impounding one of its own vessels in Gibraltar, have turned the Gulf into a powder keg.

An Iranian Revolutionary Guards' drone successfully carried out a surveillance flight over an American aircraft carrier in the Gulf, Tasnim news agency claimed in a Sunday report on its website.

A video published by the agency, which could not be immediately verified, shows a light blue coloured drone with the name "Ababil III" written on the wings in Farsi and Latin script.

It is seen taking off from a desert base near the sea, as the soundtrack of an action movie plays in the background, and flies over first an escort ship and then an aircraft carrier with fighter planes parked on the deck.&nbsp;

"The naval force of Sepah (the Guards' Farsi name) is aware of all the movements of American terrorist forces in the region and the Persian Gulf and closely monitors them," Tasnim wrote.

Tasnim did not name the aircraft carrier or say when the video was shot.

In the Koran, Ababil refers to a type of magical birds that protected Islam's holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia against an invader king's elephant army by dropping stones on them.

The Tasnim report comes nearly three weeks after the United States branded the Guards as a "foreign terrorist organisation" and added it to a blacklist.

Iran swiftly retaliated by declaring US troops "terrorists".

The Guards is an ideological military force that works in parallel to the regular army.
