<p>Speaking to&nbsp;<em>ESPNcricinfo</em>&nbsp;about RCB's decision to retain three key campaigners on the retention day, ex-Bangalore skipper Daniel Vettori suggested that Glenn Maxwell can be Kohli's successor. "Look, I think Maxwell will be the likely heir to Kohli. He obviously produced [results] in this last year and he was an exceptional player for them. He has the experience of captaining the Melbourne Stars. We talked about most teams wanting to find a captain in their retained players. It has happened too often that teams know they've got a captain, they know they can lock that away and they don't have to find one in the auction which can cloud your thinking at times," Vettori said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I do believe Maxwell will be named captain. It could be [for] just one season, to see how it goes but it's a pretty good stop-gap measure as they build to the future," Vettori added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>David Warner joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in 2014. Soon, he became a regular in the line-up and led the side to their solitary title in the 2016 edition. Warner remained the face of the franchise ever since but an ordinary season in the IPL 2021 edition, where he also had some issues with the team management, took things downhill and the swashbuckling left-hander hasn't been retained by the SRH franchise.</p>

<p>For the unversed, Warner ended with a staggering 4,014 runs for the SRH franchise, at an average of 49.55 and strike-rate of 142.59. In addition, he crossed the 500-run mark for six consecutive seasons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nonetheless, Shah on Saturday said the tournament will return to India next year. Speaking at Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s title celebration ceremony in Chennai, Shah addressed the fans and said he knows the Chennai crowd has been eagerly waiting for the team to return to Chepauk and that the moment is not that far.</p>

<p>"I know you are all eagerly waiting to see CSK play at the Chepauk, the moment is not very far. The 15th season of the IPL will take place in India and it will be more exciting than ever with two new teams joining," Shah told the fans.</p>

<p>"We have a mega-auction coming up so it will be interesting to see what the new combination looks like," he added.</p>

<p>Chennai Super Kings have not played an IPL game at their home ground - Chepauk Stadium for two years as during the first leg of IPL 2021 teams were not allowed to play at home. Thus, CSK is expected to receive&nbsp;a roaring welcome when they eventually return to the Chepauk next season.</p>

<p>The BCCI has already confirmed the retention rules for the existing eight franchises, which have been allowed to retain a maximum of four players each.
