Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday (July 25) launched a scathing attack on the newly-formed coalition of major opposition parties under the ‘INDIA’ umbrella.&nbsp;

While saying that Indian opposition was “directionless”, PM Modi reportedly cited the Islamist terrorist group ‘Indian Mujahideen’ to attack the name ‘INDIA’ that the country’s 26 major opposition parties gave to their alliance in a key meeting last week.

The so-called INDIA coalition is an acronym for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.

"They keep praising themselves for the name INDIA. Indian National Congress,&nbsp;East India Company,&nbsp;Indian Mujahideen,&nbsp;Popular Front of India - these are also INDIA. Just using the name INDIA does not mean anything," top BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted the PM as saying.

"As the Britishers came and named themselves East India Company, in the same way, the opposition is presenting itself in the name of India,” the PM said.

PM Modi gave these remarks at BJP’s parliamentary party meeting held Tuesday amid the raging demand from the opposition to hold a debate over Manipur ethnic violence in parliament.

The PM also added that the people cannot be misled just by using the country’s name.

The Indian prime minister also said that the conduct of the opposition shows they have made up their minds to remain in the opposition. He described the opposition as "defeated, tired, hopeless, with a single-point agenda - opposing Modi".

PM Modi’s attack on INDIA comes at a time when the monsoon session of the Indian Parliament is underway. Both houses of the Indian parliament have been adjourned repeatedly, halting the government’s plan to push key legislations.

INDIA alliance has been demanding PM Modi issue a detailed statement over Manipur violence in parliament. 
Members of Parliament (MPs) from the INDIA alliance said they will hold a meeting on Tuesday at the office of the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, to discuss further strategy over house proceedings.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh said their only demand from PM Modi was to release a statement on Manipur inside the parliament, adding that the protest will continue until their demands are met.

‘Indian Mujahideen also has India in its name': PM Modi blasts ‘INDIA’ coalition

A New Delhi court on Monday held Indian Mujahideen terrorist Ariz Khan and his associates guilty of killing a police officer in the Batla House encounter in Delhi in 2008.

Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Yadav said the evidence produced by the prosecution duly proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

As per the statements issued during Khan`s arrest in 2018, the police had said that Khan is an expert bomb-maker, executioner and conspirator, and had been wanted for his involvement in various bomb blast cases in Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Uttar Pradesh.

The judge said that it was "duly proved that Ariz Khan and his associates caused the murder of a police officer and fired gunshot on the police official."

The court will hear arguments on the quantum of the sentence on March 15.

Inspector Sharma of the Special Cell of Delhi was killed during the 2008 Batla House encounter in Jamia Nagar in south Delhi.

A trial court in July 2013 had sentenced Indian Mujahideen terrorist Shahzad Ahmed to life imprisonment in connection with the case.

His appeal against the trial court's verdict has been pending in the high court. &nbsp;Ariz Khan had fled from the spot and was declared a proclaimed offender.

He was arrested on February 14, 2018, and faced trial.

Batla House encounter: Court convicts Indian Mujahideen man for killing Delhi Police inspector 

A United States State Department report has said that <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/indian-mujahideen-terrorist-wanted-in-several-blasts-sent-to-police-custody-32954">Indian Mujahidin</a> (IM), which has ties with Pakistan-based terrorist groups <a href="https://www.wionews.com/videos/viral-video-of-lashkar-e-taiba-training-camp-in-pok-exposes-pakistans-lies-140937">Lashkar e-Tayyiba</a>, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harakat ul-Jihad Islami, is using Nepal as a hub to carry out terrorist activities against Indians.

In its recently released 'Country Report on Terrorism 2018'&nbsp;the State Department said the IM, designated as a foreign terrorist organisation by the US since September 2011, is suspected of obtaining funding and support from sources in Pakistan and the Middle East and that it has expanded its area of operations in Nepal.

"IM maintains ties to other terrorist entities including Pakistan-based Lashkar e-Tayyiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Harakat ul-Jihad Islami. The IM's stated goal is to carry out terrorist actions against Indians for their oppression of Muslims. IM has also expanded its area of operations into Nepal, which is now the biggest hub for IM operatives," the report which was released in October, said.

"The group is suspected to obtain funding and support from other terrorist organisations, as well as from sources in Pakistan and the Middle East," it added.

The Indian Mujahidin (IM) known for carrying out multiple coordinated bombings in crowded areas against economic and civilian targets to maximize terror and casualties was designated as an FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organisation) on September 19, 2011.

The IM has been responsible for dozens of bomb attacks throughout India since 2005, causing the deaths of hundreds of civilians.

The US State Government report mentioned that Nepal did not experience any acts of international terrorism the previous year.

However, it acknowledged incidents of domestic terrorism conducted by Netra Bikram Chand led the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).

The report has incorporated various incidents of bombings in Nepal in the year of 2017 and 2018.

Amongst three incidents, the report mentions the use of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a compound wall inside the India-funded Arun-3 Hydel Project just ahead of inaugural by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The report has cautioned Nepal that it can be used as a transit or staging point for international terrorists because of lapses and inadequate security measures.

"Due to Nepal's open border with India and insufficient security protocols at the country's sole international airport in Kathmandu, Nepal has and could continue to be used as a transit or staging point for international terrorists," the report stated.

It stated that security measures at Nepal's Airport was weak and inadequate.

"Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal's only international airport, does not pre-screen passengers, and landing data are not entered into any database.

Physical security checks of passengers are rudimentary. There is no travel document security and the airport lacks ultraviolet lights to examine documents," the report stated.

The US government report also mentioned that Nepal lacks proper screening of the passengers with that of the INTERPOL database.

"The Special Bureau of the Nepal Police assigns approximately 10 personnel to the airport and approximately 15 officers to its INTERPOL national central bureau, which is located at Nepal Police headquarters.

INTERPOL notices are maintained in a database, but passengers are not routinely screened through this database.

Security and immigration officials are generally responsive to US&nbsp;requests for information, but often have little information to provide," it said."Nepal shares an open border with India.

The 1,000-mile border has a few checkpoints, but there is a lack of sufficient security controls; for example, only one immigration official may be present at the checkpoint.

Thus, most people crossing the border are neither stopped nor checked, and the crossing points can easily be circumvented to avoid scrutiny," the report said.

"The primary constraint preventing more robust border-control capability is a lack of resources. The security services lack the personnel, technology, databases, basic equipment, and often even electrical power to provide effective border control. Additional constraints include lack of training and widespread corruption," it further added.

The National Investigation Agency's(NIA) Special Court today&nbspsentenced all accused in the 2013 Bodhgaya serial blasts case.

Delhi Court extends Indian Mujahideen founder Abdul Qureshi's remand

Alleged Indian Mujahideen terrorist <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/delhi-police-arrests-key-indian-mujahideen-terrorist-32840">Ariz Khan</a>, who was wanted in connection with several blasts, has been sent to almost a month-long police custody by a Delhi court.

Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma has given the Delhi Police 25 days to conduct Ariz Khan&#39;s custodial interrogation.

The special cell of the police, which had sought his remand, told the court that he was required to be interrogated in relation to the 2008 Batla House encounter case and in various other serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi.

Ariz Khan, 32, who was arrested on February 13, was produced before the court last evening.

He was arrested by a special team of the Delhi Police from Banwasa, along the Indo-Nepal border.

An alleged member of the Indian Mujahideen&#39;s Azamgarh (Sanjarmur) module, Ariz Khan was based in Nepal where he was teaching at a school.&nbsp;

Ariz Khan was wanted by the Delhi Police in connection with serial blasts in September 2008 in the national capital in which led to the death of 30 people and left over 100 injured. He was also wanted in the Batla House encounter in the same year in which Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was killed. He had escaped during the 2008 Batla House encounter.

He was linked with deadly terror strikes in which about 165 people were killed and over 535 were injured, police said.

The Interpol had issued a red corner notice against him.

His associate, Tauqueer, was arrested earlier by the Delhi Police in January this year, police said.

A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court run out of Hyderabad&#39;s Cherlapally Central Jail sentenced Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and 4 others to death Monday for the 2013 Hyderabad twin bomb attacks, news agency Press Trust of India reported.

IM co-founder Mohd Ahmed Sidibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal, Pakistani national Zia-ur-Rahman alias Waqas, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi, Tahaseen Akhtar alias Monu, and Ajaz Shaikh had been convicted by the court on December 13.

The five men were found guilty of detonating two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near the Dilsukhnagar bus stop on February 21, 2013.

The bombings in the heart of the city killed 18 people&nbsp;and injured 131.

The prime accused in the case and IM co-founder Riyaz Bhatkal is absconding. He is believed to be in Pakistan.

Indian Mujahideen was declared a terrorist group and banned by the Indian government in 2010.&nbsp;

Before they carried out their bomb attack, the IM operatives allegedly conducted a test blast on a hill on the outskirts of Hyderabad.&nbsp;
