If the government sources are to be believed, no deaths due to police have occurred in the region since the abrogation. The government also added that the reorganisation of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/jk-two-political-leaders-shifted-to-their-homes-will-remain-under-house-arrest-264530">J&amp;K</a> into union territories had ''no additional financial implication''.

"During this period, 197 persons have been injured in law and order related incidents. During the same period, three security force personnel and 17 civilians have been killed in terror-related incidents while 129 persons got injured," said the Home Ministry in Parliament.

"The Bill enshrines a pathway to <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/national-register-of-citizens-will-be-brought-in-soon-dont-link-it-with-citizenship-bill-amit-shah-267346">citizenship</a> for immigrants that specifically excludes Muslims, setting a legal criterion for citizenship based on religion", said the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.

"Balancing trade is a high priority for India with all partners," said the statement, adding both ministers agreed to ask their officials to prepare a plan to address the issues.

"Despite commitments in CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) from Japan, market access for India’s goods and services remains elusive," it said.

Goyal later told the parliament that the government was committed to further India’s trade interests in all future engagements.
