Amidst the rising tensions between India and China, Beijing on Thursday (Dec 26) approved the construction of the world's largest dam, a colossal hydropower project, on the Brahmaputra River in Tibet close to the Indian border.&nbsp;
China-based Xinhua reported that it is said to be the planet's biggest infra project, costing USD 137 billion and potentially producing three times more energy than the Three Gorges Dam.&nbsp;
The major hydropower project is set to be built in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo, the Tibetan name for the Brahmaputra River.&nbsp;

According to the 2020 estimate provided by the Power Construction Corp of China, the dam could generate 300 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually.&nbsp;
Notably, the construction of Three Gorges was done by resettling 1.4 million people.&nbsp;
However, the authorities have not indicated yet how many people would be required to be displaced and how it would affect the local ecosystem.&nbsp;

The Brahmaputra dam was part of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 adopted by Plenum.&nbsp;
Concerns were raised in India, saying that this could help strengthen China's control of the water flow, its size, and its scale.&nbsp;
Moreover, it could further enable China to release large amounts of water flooding border areas in times of hostilities.&nbsp;
Notably, India is also building a dam over Brahmaputra in Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier also, India and Bangladesh have raised concerns over the building of dam.&nbsp;

According to police, in his complaint, the victim alleged that on November 11, he received a call from a person who claimed to be an officer of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The alleged officer claimed that his SIM card, which was linked to the Aadhaar card, was used for illegal advertisements and harassing messages.
The fraudster further alleged that a case was registered in connection with this in Mumbai's Colaba Cyber Police Station.

Later, he got a call from a person claiming to be a police officer, alleging that his Aadhaar details were being misused to open bank accounts for money laundering, the FIR stated.
The fraudster warned him to keep the matter confidential and also allegedly threatened him that if he did not cooperate with the virtual investigation, he would be physically arrested.
Then, he also got a call from a person asking him to download the Skype app, following which a man dressed in a Mumbai Police uniform video-called him and claimed that a businessman had opened a bank account using his Aadhaar to conduct transactions worth Rs 6 crore, the FIR further stated.
On November 25, another man in police uniform called him over Skype and alleged that his case was being heard in the top court and threatened to arrest his family if he did not comply, according to the complainant.

She added that Sahil asked her to marry him, adding that his life was in danger. He also told her that he had kept his identity a secret from his family. 
When she reached Canada, the woman informed Sahil about her pregnancy on Facebook messenger, after which he threatened her and immediately blocked her, as per the complaint.
