On December 16, US Solicitor General Elizabeth B Prelogar urged the Supreme Court to reject Rana's petition. His counsel Joshua L Dratel, in his response on December 23, challenged the US government&rsquo;s recommendation and pleaded with the Supreme Court that his writ be accepted.

In July last year, a US court rejected Rana's USD 1.5 million bail application, describing him as a flight risk.
Rana was re-arrested on June 10 last year in Los Angeles on an extradition request by India for his involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Freedom of speech and expression cannot be applied selectively, and those obstructing it must be held accountable."
He added, "We hope that the UK side will take appropriate action against those responsible. Our High Commission in London remains in touch in regular communication with our community members for their safety and welfare. We expect the UK side to take strong appropriate action in this matter."

The IT sector tops the list with 84 per cent hiring demand, closely followed by energy and utilities, and healthcare and life sciences, both at 81 per cent.
Gulati said that in South India, where the shortage is especially pronounced (85 per cent), the pressure on medium and large enterprises is significant.
&ldquo;Employers are increasingly prioritising upskilling strategies to bridge this gap, reflecting a shift towards sustainable solutions over short-term measures like wage increases. Addressing this challenge will require a robust partnership between businesses, governments, and educators to build a future-ready workforce,&rdquo; he added.
As per the report, 80 per cent of employers face difficulty finding skilled talent, remaining consistent in the last three years, and increasing by 86 per cent from 2021&rsquo;s survey.
