Security guards were seen covering the container. One official was seen spraying air purifier around the chamber. All this is a signal of things to come as pro-democracy protesters gear up to fight Beijing on the streets again. Hong Kong is known as an Asian financial hub and has has been one of the most successful cities to contain the contagious virus. Most cases in the city were mostly imported and were quarantined immediately, but new locally transmitted cases have made the city officials worried.&nbsp;

The city under Chinese rule had eased its lockdown by reopening the bars, gyms and cinema halls last week. They aimed to bring students back to school by the end of month. The officials placed ban on gatherings larger than eight people.&nbsp;

Due to lack of of local transmission, the Hong Kong protests gathered its pace and was back on the streets after being halted due to virus.&nbsp;

According to latest government health report, two local cases includes a 66-year-old housewife and her 5-year-old granddaughter. One imported case of coronavirus was also reported bringing the total number of cases to 1,051 with four casualties.&nbsp;

China is going to&nbsp;prosecute a Belizean citizen for his alleged involvement in providing funds to “meddle” in Hong Kong affairs, a Chinese newspaper reported on Friday.

The newspaper backed by the ruling Communist Party,&nbsp;said security authorities concluded their investigation against Lee Henley Hu Xiang to the Guangzhou prosecutorate. Lee will be prosecuted, the report said.

The scenes brought back images of the clashes that plunged the city into turmoil last year and posed the gravest popular challenge to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Many protesters are angry about what they see as creeping Chinese interference in Hong Kong, which returned to China in 1997 under a "one country, two systems" formula intended to guarantee freedoms that are not enjoyed on the mainland.

Hong Kong protesters on Friday staged sit-ins in Chinese ruled city to mark the seven months of anti-government protests. The sit-ins also marked a mob attack on demonstrators which had triggered a widespread criticism for Hong Kong police.

Hundreds of protesters had gathered at two locations, Yuen Long train station, and near the&nbsp;border with the mainland, as they chanted slogans including "Liberate Hong Kong! Revolution of our times" and "Hong Kong independence, the only way out!".

"We will never forget what happened on July 21," news agency Reuters quoted Lily, a protester as saying.

"We shouldn’t forget to resist despite the outbreak of the Wuhan pneumonia," she said, referring to the central city in mainland China where the coronavirus outbreak originated.

The former British colony returned to Chinese rule in 1997 amid promises it would be granted a high degree of autonomy and eventual universal suffrage.

China's tightening grip on the city and Beijing's failure to live up to its promises have fed the unrest, in one of the biggest popular challenges to the ruling Communist Party since the return.

Tens of thousands of Hong Kongers&nbsp;have held various rounds of anti-government and anti-China&nbsp;protests which initially began against the extradition bill but transformed into pro-democracy demonstrations.

During the protests, over&nbsp;7,000 protesters were arrested in seven months of unrest. Of those, 1,092 have been charged, Hong Kong police chief Chris Tang told district councillors recently.

The Yuen Long violence was one of the highest-profile attacks since protests against a now-withdrawn extradition bill escalated in June last year.
