The move implies that the cruise terminal on the IJ River near the Amsterdam main train station will be shut down.

“Polluting cruise ships are not in line with the sustainable ambitions of our city," the centre-right party D66 said in a statement. D66 calls the shots in Amsterdam council, along with democrats and environmentalists.&nbsp;

In 2008, after years of tensions and Saakashvili's efforts to forge closer ties with the West, Moscow fought a brief but bloody war with Georgia.

However, current authorities in Georgia have been accused by the opposition of forming close ties with the Kremlin in recent years.

Ruling party in Georgia insists that it is committed to Georgia's membership of the European Union (EU) and North Atlantic Treaty Organistaion (NATO). Georgia's membership in these two blocs has been enshrined in its constitution and opinion polls show that 80 per cent of the population&nbsp;supports the country being in these two blocs.

Georgia's pro-EU president immediately slammed Moscow's latest decision.

"Another Russian provocation!" the country's figurehead president, Salome Zourabichvili, said on Twitter.&nbsp;

"Resuming direct flights and lifting (the) visa ban with Georgia is unacceptable as long as Russia continues its aggression on Ukraine and occupies our territory!"

The Kremlin's decrees on Georgia come as Moscow's offensive in Ukraine stretches into its second year.

Russia lifts flight ban with Georgia, introduces visa-free regime

According to the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA), <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/flights-suspension-from-india-pak-bangladesh-and-lanka-to-uae-extended-till-aug-7-402535">UAE </a>will lift a ban on transit passenger traffic from India, Pakistan, Nigeria and other countries from August 5.

The UAE said only those passengers will be allowed who have residency visas and have&nbsp;received the two doses of vaccine with the condition that 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose.

The agency said vaccination certificates approved by official authorities in the country will also be needed at the airport, however, medical personnel working in the country will be exempted, including doctors, nurses and&nbsp;technicians, whether vaccinated or not.

Exemption from vaccination has also been provided for the education&nbsp;sector for those who teach in universities, colleges, schools and institutes.

"Travel will also resume for transit passengers from all countries from which transit passengers were previously banned, provided that the traveller’s last destination is accepted and a laboratory PCR test is submitted within 72 hours from the time of departure," it said.

The directive added that "exempted groups will be obligated to submit a prior PCR test within 48 hours from the date of departure" and follow precautionary and preventive measures should be followed including quarantine and PCR checks.

The agency declared that airports will allocate special lounges for transit passengers while taking all COVID-19 precautionary and preventive measures.

The GCAA had earlier exempted official delegations and businessmen as well as golden and silver residency holders, with foreign aircraft crews also allowed in subject to the person carrying negative PCR test&nbsp;obtained within 48 hours of departure and upon arrival.

The world is opening quite fast after months of continuous lockdowns and travel bans. In the latest move, Canada has announced it will open its borders to fully vaccinated Americans next month after a nearly 17-month closure.&nbsp;

But a question that is continuously striking the minds of Indian fliers, airlines and aviation sector employees is when will flying or travelling internationally be without any hassles?&nbsp;

The answer to this question depends on a host of factors. Though trends emerge, flying could become more relaxed by the end of this year for Indians who want to travel overseas, the acceptability at airports will depend on vaccinations.&nbsp;

Domestic flying in India is currently bound by some rules at different airports and between different cities where RTPCR and Corona negative tests are demanded, but flying internationally is currently allowed mostly with restrictions where some countries need vaccine certificates and RTPCR negative test reports, while many others haven't opened flying at all.&nbsp;

Canada is the latest country that has also announced that it is extending the ban on incoming passenger flights from India for another month, while last week, Oman did so for fliers coming from India.&nbsp;

In some good news for Indian travellers, France has announced it will now allow travellers from overseas who have had Covishield, AstraZeneca’s Indian-manufactured vaccine, into the country, while the United States has lowered its travel advisory for India from the highest level of 4 'do not travel' to level 3 'reconsider travel' as the COVID-19 cases in India have dropped significantly.&nbsp;

There are around 17 European countries that currently allow Indian travellers to be vaccinated with Covishield, including Austria, Germany, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Iceland, Malta, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Latvia, while Estonia is the only country that has approved both Covishield and Covaxin.&nbsp;

Switzerland, which is not part of the 27-member bloc European Union, has allowed Covishield vaccinated Indians to enter its borders, but Italy and a few other European nations have not approved Covishield yet, and the Indian manufacturer of Covishield vaccine, Serum Institue of India (SII), claims it has not applied to these countries for approval. Experts predict it is only a matter of time before nations start recognising India's Covaxin, which is manufactured by Bharat Biotech.&nbsp;

WHO approval for Covaxin is expected to come by August or September. India has already urged the European Union member states to recognise both Covishied and Covaxin in their list of vaccine passports and to accept the vaccination certificates issued through the CoWIN portal.&nbsp;

Experts say as soon as both vaccines are recognised equally by countries and nations start allowing inbound flights, there could be relaxations seen in international travel, to and from India.&nbsp;

Keeping that in mind, in the recently released economic relief measures, India will offer half a million tourist visas free of cost to inbound travellers.&nbsp;

Recently, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in India (NTAGI) has recommended during a meeting with the health ministry that passengers who have received both their doses can avoid quarantine and COVID-19 testing during inter-state travel.&nbsp;

This shows more relaxation is coming back. Among other countries that require either Covishield vaccination or a negative RTPCR report or both, countries like Russia need a negative RTPCR plus Rapid test, Egypt needs a negative RTPCR report, while South Africa will allow entry if you have taken Covishield.&nbsp;

In tit-for-tat move, Germany blocks Russian flights amid tensions over Belarus

A 73-year-old Australian, who is stranded in India since March last year, has filed a lawsuit before a Sydney court against the federal government for banning flights from India and threatening to prosecute those attempting to enter the country with the possibility of a jail term and a penalty, saying the move is 'unconstitutional'.&nbsp;

The government threatened to prosecute them with a possibility of five years of jail term or a penalty of 66,000 Australian dollars (USD 50,899).&nbsp;

A few days after the UK announced identifying&nbsp;a new variant of coronavirus, several European countries are thinking of banning all incoming flights from the country.

Belgium has become the first country to impose an immediate ban which will commence from midnight (2300 GMT) on Sunday. The decision was announced by the Belgian&nbsp;Prime Minister Alexander De Croo who has claimed the ban will be in place at least for the next 24 hours.

India's ministry of external affairs(MEA) said today that as part of phase 4 of "Vande Bharat" mission 945 international flights &amp; 252 feeder flights have been scheduled.

Commercial international flights were halted in March after the lockdown was announced with domestic flights allowed to resume operation last month.

The MEA added that 1,197 flights have been scheduled with Air India set to operate 30 flights a week to the United States. The MEA added that it is in touch with the stranded Indians abroad.

The ministry announced that the flights will be operated by Air India group, IndiGo, SpiceJet &amp; GoAir.

Air India had earlier carried out repatriation operations in May under the "Vande Bharat" mission as the virus led to the Indian government blocking international flights.

Meanwhile, the first-ever container cargo from Kolkata via Chattogram arrived in Agartala today as part of India-Bangladesh connectivity and economic partnership. India and Bangladesh have enhanced cooperation in shipping and inland water trade. &nbsp;

Britain said Tuesday it was ending a nearly four-year suspension of flights to Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh that followed the bombing of a Russian airliner claimed by the Islamic State group.

"The UK has been clear that flights to Sharm el-Sheikh should resume when the security situation allows," British minister for the Middle East and North Africa, Andrew Murrison, said in a statement released by the embassy.

"I am pleased that today we can announce the lifting of the current restrictions."

Britain today lifted a ban on personal electronic devices for flights from Istanbul&#39;s Sabiha Gokcen airport but decided to keep restrictions for Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and other Turkish hubs.

Britain&#39;s transport ministry said passengers would be allowed to carry&nbsp;large phones, laptops and tablets in the cabin on all UK-bound flights from the airport.

The ban &quot;will be lifted on a case-by-case basis once the UK government has verified that airlines have put in place alternative security measures and that it is safe and proportionate to do so,&quot; it said.

Turkish Airlines reacted to the news in a tweet saying: &quot;Now you can enjoy your electronic devices in the flights to the United Kingdom. Have fun!&quot;

But the restrictions remain in place for Istanbul Ataturk, Turkey&#39;s biggest airport, as well as the Mediterranean coastal cities of Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and Izmir, which are popular with tourists.

The United States instituted the laptop ban in March for eight <a href="http://www.wionews.com/world/laptop-flight-ban-by-us-uk-was-triggered-by-is-threat-report-13656">North African and Middle East countries based on intelligence that the Islamic State group </a>was working to build a bomb into a tablet or laptop.

For the same reason, Britain followed suit and banned similar-sized electronics from being carried into cabins on direct flights from six countries.

The United States has since lifted all its restrictions saying airlines had raised their security standards.
