Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway:&nbsp;The four-lane Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway is all set to inaugurate by the end of 2023. The new expressway is expected to cut the massive 730 km distance to just 590 km and will save a lot of time for people travelling from Delhi to Katra. As per the reports, the distance between Delhi and Katra would be covered in just six hours, once this expressway comes into function.

This is also good news for people traders who travel from Delhi to Chandigarh, as the travel time between the two cities will soon be cut down to just 2 hours. At present, it takes 5 to 6 hours to reach Chandigarh from Delhi.&nbsp;

Chandigarh is one of the major cities in north India after Delhi-NCR, it is also one of the rapidly developing cities and is an important trade centre. The commute from Delhi to Chandigarh will be reduced to two hours, once the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway and Dwarka expressway become fully functional. The total distance of the stretch will become 20 km lesser than what it is currently now.&nbsp;

<h2>The route of Delhi-Chandigarh via the new expressway:</h2>

From Delhi, the commuters will head on to Dwarka Expressway and then turn towards the Urban Extension Road. After a 40 km drive, they will reach the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

The commuters will then take the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra (DAK) Expressway for 80 km. After covering the 80 km stretch, they will take the Trans-Haryana Expressway to reach Ambala.

The DAK Expressway will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Amritsar to four hours and between Delhi and Katra to 6 hours from 14 hours. The maximum speed allowed on the expressway will be 120 km per hour. Authorities will install elaborate signboards to guide the commuters.

1.&nbsp;The project was announced in 2016 and the construction began under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.&nbsp;

2.&nbsp;The Delhi-Katra expressway is expected to cost Rs 47,000 crore.

3.&nbsp;The expressway will join Delhi’s Bahadurgarh border to Katra through Nakodar and Gurdaspur in Punjab. Near Nakodar, the Greenfield expressway will be divided into two sections.

4.&nbsp;The road will connect Vaishno Devi in Katra and Amritsar’s Golden Temple to the national capital. Dera Baba Nanak, Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib and Tarn Taran will also be connected to Delhi through this expressway.

5.&nbsp;As per reports, it is a combination of Brownfield and Greenfield expressways, which can be expanded up to an eight-lane expressway.

Reach Chandigarh from Delhi in just 2 hours via Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway; five things to know about it

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Kundli-Manesar section of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) western peripheral expressway.

He also inaugurated the 3.2 km-long Ballabhgarh-Mujesar Metro rail link, which would facilitate travel for people of Delhi and Faridabad, and laid the foundation stone of the Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, which will come up at Dudhola in Palwal district.

The inaugurations and foundation laying stone ceremonies were done through remote from Sultanpur village of this district.

The prime minister, on his arrival at Sultanpur village in this district, went around visual art exhibition pertaining to the KMP project.

Modi was briefed by the officials about the project.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union ministers Rao Inderjit Singh, who is a Gurgaon MP, and Birender Singh.

Haryana Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya was also present on the occasion.

Earlier this year, Manesar to Palwal stretch of the KMP, whose entire length is 135.65 km, was opened for public, Khattar said on the occasion.

A sum of Rs 6,400 crore has been spent on the expressway project and 3,846 acres of land was acquired at a cost of Rs 2,788 crore, a Haryana government spokesperson said.

The length of the stretch from Kundli to Manesar is over 83 km. This stretch would have 14 major or minor bridges, 56 underpass or agricultural vehicular underpasses, seven intersections and seven toll plazas.

The expressway will decongest the road traffic from Delhi, especially reducing the number of trucks entering the national capital, thus helping in reducing pollution.

Besides, the project will also provide a high-speed link between northern Haryana and southern districts and give an uninterrupted high-speed link for traffic, especially commercial traffic, from Haryana to neighbouring states.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana has blamed the previous Congress regime of delay in the KMP project.

The prime minister inaugurated the Rs 580 crore Metro link in Sultanpur village in the district.

Ballabhgarh becomes the fourth city in Haryana to get metro connectivity after Gurgaon, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh.

The skill university will come up over an area of 82.5 acres at a cost of Rs 989 crore.

Indian firm Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) has presented a bill worth Rs 3.17 billion spent on a detailed project report (DPR) for the Kathmandu-Tarai Expressway in 2015.

On Sunday, the Indian consultant asked the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to make payment for the costs incurred as the Nepal Army, the project developer refused to purchase the DPR, Kathmandu Post reported.

Nepali Joint Secretary Ram Hari Pokhrel, said the letter from the Indian company has put us in a fix. He said they will have to go through the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Indian company.

The Indian consortium, in July 2015, submitted a report to the ministry regarding the construction of 76-km expressway connecting Kathmandu with the southern plains.

The then Sushil Koirala-led government was preparing to award the project to the Indian consortium. It was decided that an annual minimum revenue guarantee of Rs15 billion would be provided if the road toll failed to generate adequate profits.

The government had to scrap all the agreements reached because of this controversy and decided to construct it with domestic resources.

On May 4, 2017, the project's responsibility was handed over to the army with the authority to purchase the DPR from the Indian company.

However, the army decided against purchasing the DPR saying that it was incomplete.

This is why, the Indian company in order to recover the expenses incurred during the preparation of the report, had to go to arbitration.
