<p>“We’ll be analysing the situation in real-time and preparing a ceremony that would be limited to Trocadéro, where we wouldn’t use the whole of the Seine, or even a ceremony that would bring the public to the Stade de France, which is what has been done traditionally,” Macron said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“What the terrorists want is to prevent us from dreaming, and that’s their greatest victory," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Olympic archery events are slated to be held in the long Esplanade Park of Les Invalides. Some events will be held by the iconic Eiffel Tower.</p>

<p>Macron's administration kept mum on the Saudi proposal until Nathalie Serre, a conservative MP, demanded information in a ­parliamentary question. Answering the question, French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed that the government was giving it a “sympathetic view”.</p>

<p>The sporting extravaganza is set to begin with national teams sailing down a 6.0-kilometre (four-mile) stretch of the Seine on more than 100 boats -- the first time the traditional opening ceremony has been held outside of the main stadium.</p>

<p>The city's police, overseen by the government-appointed prefect, had ordered the removal of around 600 of the 900 book kiosks over security concerns amid fears that they could be used to conceal explosive devices.</p>

<p>The format of the open-air ceremony is a huge challenge for security forces who will need to protect competitors, VIPs and spectators in a vast area of the capital at a time of heightened concern about terror attacks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They held a mega roadshow on the streets of the pink city and were welcomed by citizens in large numbers.</p>

<p>Following the roadshow, the Indian prime minister and the French president visited Hawa Mahal, also known as the 'Palace of Breeze', which was built in the year 1799 as an extension to the Royal City Palace of Jaipur.</p>

<p>After this, the two interacted over a cup of tea at a local shop and the French President made the payment through UPI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>PM Modi then explained the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) digital payments system to the French President.</p>

<p>"Connecting over tea &amp; UPI! PM @narendramodidemonstrated the simplicity &amp; swiftness of 's UPI payment system to President @EmmanuelMacron by purchasing cups of tea and an Indian handicraft using UPI. Digital cooperation is an important pillar of - partnership," the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal on X.</p>

<p>The two leaders, earlier in the day, also visited Jantar Mantar which was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in July 2010.</p>

<h2><strong>Macron lands in India</strong></h2>

<p>Macron arrived in India on Thursday (Jan 25) afternoon and landed in the northern Indian city of Jaipur where he, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took part in a roadshow.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Macron, the sixth French leader to attend India's Republic Day parade, has been a trusted ally of New Delhi. After India extended the invitation for the parade, following the alleged refusal by the US president, Macron immediately accepted the request.&nbsp;</p>

<p>President Macron’s visit is also aimed at strengthening the France-India strategic partnership that the two leaders signed up in Paris on July 14 through the Horizon 2047 Roadmap.</p>

<p>India had ordered 36 Rafale jets from France in 2015 and&nbsp;the Indian Air Force received the last of these fighter aircraft in December 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In July 2023, during PM Modi's Paris visit, the two countries signed up to "extend their ground-breaking defence cooperation in advanced aeronautical technologies by supporting the joint development of a combat aircraft engine".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The two countries are also key partners in&nbsp;the Indo-Pacific region, where they remain "open to inviting strategic partner countries in the region to participate in Indo-French [naval] exercises".</p>

<h2><strong>PM Modi, Marcon hold mega roadshow in Jaipur</strong></h2>

<p>Both leaders held a mega roadshow on the streets of the pink city and were welcomed by citizens in large numbers.</p>

<p>The crowd also showered flower petals on PM Modi and French President Macron.</p>

<p>Following the roadshow, the Indian prime minister and the French president visited Hawa Mahal, also known as the 'Palace of Breeze', which was built in the year 1799 as an extension to the Royal City Palace of Jaipur.</p>

<p>After this, the two interacted over a cup of tea at a local shop and the French President made the payment through UPI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>PM Modi then explained the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) digital payments system to the French President.</p>
