A Saudi Arabia-bound plane from Egypt’s Cairo burst one of its tyres while landing at the destination early on Sunday.

An EgyptAir jetliner —MS643—took off from Cairo international airport earlier in the day. However, upon landing at King Abdulaziz International Airport in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah, it blew out a tyre, the air carrier said in a statement.

The statement added that no casualties were reported.

The Boeing 738 made a safe landing on the runway and all passengers disembarked the airplane with no injuries reported, the statement said.

However, the airline did not elaborate further as to what caused the problem and said that an examination and maintenance of the plane were underway.

According to the EgyptAir website, the flight was scheduled to take off from Cairo at 9.25 pm (local time) on Saturday, but it actually departed at 10.05 pm and arrived at 1.25 am, instead of the scheduled arrival time of 11.30 pm.

EgyptAir airline came into the international spotlight in 2016&nbsp;after its plane carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew members&nbsp;crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on May 19.

The BEA, France's Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety, in its probe found that the plane was brought down by a pilot who lit a cigarette in the cockpit and ignited a fire.

It concluded that pilot Mohamed Said Shoukair's mid-flight smoke break ignited oxygen seeping from an oxygen mask in the cockpit, resulting in a fire onboard the Airbus A320 jet.

The report further said that Egyptian pilots regularly smoked in the cockpit and the practice had not been banned by the airline at the time of the crash.

Among the dead were 40 Egyptians and 15 French nationals. The plane was also carrying two Iraqis, two Canadians and one passenger each from Algeria, Belgium, Britain, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

The plane entered service in 2003, making it relatively new for an aircraft that tends to have an operational life of 30 to 40 years.

The passengers on the plane were 30 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, two Iraqis, two Canadians, and citizens from Algeria, Belgium, Britain, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. They included a boy and two babies. Seven crew and three security personnel were also on board. The crash came after the bombing of a Russian airliner over Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula last October that killed all 224 people on board. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for that attack within hours, but there has been no such claim linked to the EgyptAir crash. IS has been waging a deadly insurgency against Egyptian security forces and has claimed attacks in both France and Egypt. Black box recovered from EgyptAir crash site

A second ship equipped with specialist search devices will join the hunt for the &quot;black box&quot; flight recorders and the wreckage of the EgyptAir jet that crashed into&nbsp;the Meditarranean on May 19, the head of France&#39;s air-accident investigation agency said today. 
 
Earlier, a&nbsp;French naval supply vessel had picked up a signal from one of the two recorders on June 1.&nbsp;Egypt has now chartered a second vessel operated by Mauritius-based Deep Ocean Search, equipped with sonar equipment and an underwater vehicle, and&nbsp;will start operations on Friday. 
 
Remi Jouty, director of the BEA air accident agency, which is advising Egypt on the underwater search, said the first ship continued to pick up locator signals from the first recorder, whose location had been narrowed to within 1 to 2 kilometres. 
 
Pending the search for the two recorders, the Egyptian-led investigation is still &quot;very far&quot; from understanding why Flight 804 crashed into the Mediterranean on May 19, killing all 66 people on board, Jouty told aviation journalists in Paris. 
 
Each recorder, one containing cockpit voice recordings and the other data from the Airbus A320 jet, is attached to a beacon designed to emit acoustic homing signals for 30 days, giving search teams limited time to detect the second box. 
 
Jouty said he was sorry that French recommendations to extend the battery life to 90 days, first made in December 2009 following the Atlantic crash of an Air France jet and still not implemented worldwide, had taken so long to be acted on. The new rules take effect in 2018. 
 
Each recorder is contained inside a strong bright-orange housing and attached to a beacon, or pinger, which sends out acoustic signals about once a second after a crash. 
 
To recover the black boxes from the seabed 3,000 metres below the surface, investigators will need to narrow the signals to within a few metres and establish whether the pingers are still connected to the recorders, Jouty said. 
 
How long it takes after that to recover the crucial pieces of evidence will depend partly on whether they are accessible or trapped inside the aircraft&#39;s structure, he added. 
 
&quot;It is difficult to imagine the recovery taking less than a week once they are located,&quot; he said. 
 
Once recovered, the recorders would be handed to Egyptian authorities, who are expected to read them in the country&#39;s air crash investigation laboratory in Cairo.&nbsp;If they are damaged they could be sent abroad for further analysis or back to their US&nbsp;manufacturer, Honeywell.
