“Should’ve been somebody on the roof, should’ve been communication with the local police,” he said. “We’re seeing this guy, who was a very disturbed person… how about the Trump fans who were screaming about him?”

But later, he appeared to be sympathising with the female agent who came under intense criticism from Trump's fans.

"I just want to say one thing about the Secret Service... They were very brave. They were coming," he said.

"Bullets were flying over me. I went down, and they were on top of me... I had a lot of very big, strong people on top of me," Trump further said.

FBI special agent Kevin Rojek said&nbsp;the interview with the former president would be "a standard victim interview" that the agency would do for any other victim of crime under any other circumstances.

"We want to get his perspective on what he observed. The interview with the former president will follow the same protocol as any other victim interview we conduct," said Rojek.&nbsp;

Trump's would-be assassination was 20-year-old Thomas Crooks who fired eight bullets from an AR-15 rifle while being only 130 metres away from the Republican leader.&nbsp;

The FBI have so far interviewed dozens of people associated with Crooks, including family members, schoolmates and colleagues.&nbsp;

"We have learned the subject was highly intelligent, attended college and maintained steady employment," Rojek said. "His primary social circle appears to be limited to his immediate family as we believe he had few friends and acquaintances."

To this date,&nbsp;the premier security agency of the US has&nbsp; not been able to decipher the motive behind the shooting as&nbsp;Crooks had not posted anything incendiary for either side of the political spectrum.

On the Sunday (Jul 28) after Biden’s announcement, a group called Win With Black Women hosted a video call to support Harris and was joined by 44,000 people who pledged more than $1.5 million to her campaign. Four days later, a similar call aimed at white women attracted 160,000 participants and brought in $8.5 million.

“Kamala Broke Zoom,” proclaimed the headline over a cable news story which described the event as a world record.

Determined to keep the momentum, Harris wasted no time to hit the campaign trail. Her first stop was in Milwaukee, just a week after the end of the Republican National Convention at which former president Donald Trump formally accepted his party’s nomination as its presidential candidate.

The mood at the RNC was joyous. Trump had survived an assassination attempt a few days before the convention and he and most of his followers ascribed his survival – a bullet nicked his ear – to divine intervention. Party faithful and many political analysts predicted that election victory was all but certain.

Few could have imagined that boisterous crowds of fired-up Democrats would chant for a Harris victory in the same city a few days later.

While she is not the official Democratic nominee yet – that will happen at next month’s Democratic National Convention – she has been endorsed by every single party heavyweight, from former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

The most damaging comment came from an interview with the right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson while he was running for the Ohio Senate seat in 2021. The video clip surfaced a few weeks ago and has circulated dozens of times. Vance said: “We’re effectively run in this country – via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs – by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices they have made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

As statements causing offence to millions of potential voters go, this ranks very high on the list. About a third of all households in the US&nbsp;own at least one cat and their number is estimated at 93 million. There are no statistics on how many cat owners are childless women but one angry woman reacted with a social network posting of a photograph of music superstar Taylor Swift with her cat draped around her neck.

If Kamala Harris were to beat Trump in the elections, she would follow up her “firsts” in Zoom calls and fundraising with more firsts. She would be the first female and bi-racial president – her mother is Indian and her father is Jamaican.

Former President Donald Trump and Republican presidential nominee—is touting a new campaign promise: an American strategic bitcoin reserve should he be elected again. Trump vowed that the country would never sell any of the bitcoin it holds today. This move shook political and cryptocurrency markets alike.

"If I am elected, it will be the policy of my administration, the United States of America, to keep 100 per cent of all the bitcoin the US government currently holds or acquires into the future," he said. "This will serve in effect as the core of the strategic national Bitcoin stockpile."

Of note is the fact that the US government already holds more than $14 billion worth of bitcoin, largely seized by the Department of Justice. According to Fundstrat's Head of Digital Asset Strategy, Sean Farrell, compliance with Trump's commitment to not sell would be positive for price stability in Bitcoin. Despite what followed, the promise of Trump really did make bitcoin rather volatile, but with no dramatic changes.

Donald Trump's vice-presidential candidate, JD Vance, has defended his previously resurfaced remark, where he referred to Democratic politicians as a "bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives".

"I was trying to say that having children, whether as a father or a mother, is a life-changing event that significantly shapes your worldview in a pretty profound way. I'm simply trying to make an argument that our entire society has become skeptical and even hateful towards the idea of having kids," he explained. The former US president greeted Netanyahu and his wife Sara. He also criticised&nbsp;Harris for her public comments regarding the impact of the Israel-Hamas war on Palestinian civilians. The Gaza war&nbsp;is currently in its ninth month.&nbsp;

"I think her remarks were disrespectful," Trump said.

This comes after&nbsp;the US VP&nbsp;pressed Netanyahu about the suffering of Palestinians during their meeting on Thursday, a discussion closely watched for indications of her potential policy changes if she becomes president.

The Republican presidential candidate's stance also highlighted&nbsp;the&nbsp;policy shifts during his tenure including&nbsp;relocating the American&nbsp;embassy to Jerusalem and withdrawing the US from the international nuclear agreement with Iran.

Netanyahu adjusted his US travel schedule&nbsp;to meet with Trump and reached&nbsp;Palm Beach early Friday.

Trump claims he was hit by a bullet that grazed the upper portion of his right ear after he moved his head just in time to avoid getting shot in the head. However, the FBI director has his suspicions.&nbsp;

"With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear," Wray said while testifying in front of the House Oversight Committee.&nbsp;

“As I sit here right now, I don’t know whether that bullet… in addition to causing the grazing, could have landed somewhere else," he added.&nbsp;

Notably, 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Crooks, had fired a volley of eight rounds towards the former US president using an AR-15 rifle while he was addressing the rally in an open field.&nbsp;

Wray said his team had accounted for all the shots in the cartridges, including the ones that killed a rallygoer and wounded two others. Wray highlighted that Crooks' gun had a collapsible stock that made it easy to hide the gun.

<h2>FBI surprised&nbsp;</h2>

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the FBI had thrown the US Secret Service under the bus by claiming it was 'surprising' that the shooter was able to fire the rifle.&nbsp;

“It is surprising but, to get all the details of that will come out later in the investigation," said Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office when asked if he was surprised at the number of shots.&nbsp;

"The Secret Service really needs to answer that question,” Rojek stated, adding that the FBI was only there to support the Secret Service who were in charge of securing the scene.

The premier security agency last week confirmed that Crooks had searched for Trump as well as his successor Joe Biden in the lead-up to the events of July 13.&nbsp;

FBI added that Crooks searched for dates of Trump appearances and the Democratic National Convention (DNC) where Democrats were previously expected to certify Biden's nomination for the president before he dropped out of the race.
