She was sent on leave by New ork Magazine, which conducted an internal investigation into whether her relationship caused any bias in her reporting of him.

It found none.

The reporter and the magazine, nevertheless, decided mutually that parting ways was the best option, it said.&nbsp;

The magazine praised Nuzzi's talent and thanked her for her contributions.&nbsp;

"Nuzzi is a uniquely talented writer and we have been proud to publish her work over her nearly eight years as our Washington Correspondent. We wish her the best,” it said.

For her part, Nuzzi's lawyer said she was satisfied with the conclusions of the investigations and noted her successful tenure. &nbsp;

The attorney was 'gratified though not surprised that two different investigations have determined that her reporting on the 2024 campaign was sound and that she did nothing wrong.'

When the issue blew up, Nuzzi issued a statement saying the relationship should have been disclosed to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.&nbsp;

While she regretted the oversight and apologised to her colleagues and readers, Nuzzi insisted that the relationship was never physical and that she did not report on RFK Jr during the affair.

In an earlier statement in September, the publication had said her conduct violated its standards regarding&nbsp;conflicts of interest and disclosures.

“Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign,” said the statement issued on 19 September.

The world is watching the US elections, now just two weeks away, with great interest. Will Donald Trump, the 45th president, make a comeback or will the US finally get its first lady president? The stakes are high here in New Delhi too, with observers now gauging the impact, both positive and negative, on the Indo-US ties taking into consideration the policies of the two leaders. People are curious who, out of the two, will be better for India.

<h2>Economics</h2>

Managing the economic ties with the US under a Trump presidency won’t be as smooth as it has been generally. Trump has several times labelled India as “an abuser” of import tariffs. Just earlier this month, Trump said “The biggest charger of all is India.”

“India is a very big charger. We have a great relationship with India. I did. And especially the leader, Modi. He's a great leader. Great man. Really is a great man. He's brought it together. He's done a great job. But they probably charge as much,” he said.

Trump has vowed to introduce "reciprocal trade" policies if voted to power. This conservative approach to international trade may not bode very well for India’s exports to the US, our largest trading partner. The US is the only country amongst India’s top 10 trading partners who we have a trade surplus with. We can’t afford to lose a stable economic partnership with a nation that is a big source of foreign exchange.

On the other hand, Harris might also opt for some protectionist policies but she is largely expected to not go overboard. The Biden administration, for example, recently blocked a Japanese company, Nippon Steel, from acquiring US Steel on national security grounds. The deal worth $14.9bn was met with scepticism amid silent takeover concerns. It shows even Harris won’t give even one of the USA’s top allies a free pass and erect protectionist measures.

<h2>Technological advancement</h2>

Both Trump and Harris are expected to take a confrontational approach with China, which is expected to benefit India. The Biden administration, for example, has taken steps to ensure the balance of technological power between India and China.

When PM Modi visited the US last month for the Quad summit, the two nations signed a deal to set up a semiconductor fabrication plant in India. The initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) between the US and India is another major example of this deepening partnership.

The deal, signed in May 2022, opened a broad spectrum in areas including artificial intelligence, quantum technology, space, 6G mobile tech and semiconductor supply chain.

Harris is expected to follow in Biden’s footsteps to further shift this balance of power towards India away from China.

Trump’s confrontationist approach is also set to benefit India as more and more nations will try to minimise operations risks by shifting out of China.

“I think there are real questions with how he is spending money in this race. How the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians,” said Shapiro on Sunday (Oct 20) on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.”

“That is deeply concerning," he added.

Shapiro said that Musk, who has endorsed Trump publicly and made appearances at rallies with him, has a right to express his views.

When NBC News’s Kristin Welker asked Shapiro if plans of Musk are legal, the former Pennsylvania attorney general said that he was not able to weigh in on the issue.

“I think it’s something that law enforcement can take a look at,” Shapiro said.

"If she's president, I believe that Israel will not exist within two years from now," Trump added and expressed his continued support of Israel's offensive in Gaza.

He has also urged Israel to “finish up” the war because it was is losing support.&nbsp;

Harris, meanwhile, said that Trump's remarks about her hating Israel were&nbsp;"absolutely not true."

Harris said that she backed&nbsp;a ceasefire deal in Gaza that would see the release of the remaining Israeli captives, but renewed her pledge to continue to arm Israel.

She also voiced support for the two-state solution.

On Thursday (Oct 17), Trump blamed Ukrainian President&nbsp;Volodymyr Zelensky for starting the war against&nbsp;Russia. Trump has repeatedly called Zelensky the "greatest salesman on Earth"&nbsp;for having solicited and received billions of dollars of US&nbsp;military aid since the war broke out in 2022.

His remarks&nbsp;suggest he could seek to wind down aid for Ukraine if he defeats Harris in the election, a report by the news agency Reuters said.

Kamala Harris, meanwhile,&nbsp;has pledged to continue supporting Ukraine, and she has portrayed a victory for the country as a vital American national security interest. She has frequently rebuked Trump for being unwilling to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The reason why Trump says the (Russia-Ukraine)&nbsp;war would be over in 24 hours, because he would just give it up. And that's not who we are as Americans...we brought 50 countries together to support Ukraine in its right to defence," Harris said during the presidential debate.

The United States Secret Service is facing urgent calls for reform after a report published on Thursday (Oct 17)&nbsp;revealed "deep flaws" within the agency, warning that future assassination attempts like the one at Republican presidential candidate&nbsp;Donald Trump's rally could happen again if changes are not made swiftly.

An independent panel, investigating the shooting incident on July 13, published its findings on Thursday, saying that the agency has become "bureaucratic, complacent, and static." The 52-page report suggested a complete overhaul of leadership and pointed to a "number of specific failures and breakdowns" that contributed to the attack on the former US president.

"The Secret Service must be the world's leading governmental protective organisation. The events at Butler on July 13 demonstrate that, currently, it is not," the report said.

The Secret Service has already acknowledged some mistakes, and its director stepped down just weeks after the shooting.

In a statement released on Thursday, Secret Service's acting director Ronald Rowe said the agency would thoroughly review the new report. "We have already significantly improved our readiness, operational and organisational communications and implemented enhanced protective operations for the former president," Rowe said.
