<p>Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Tuesday performed a 'havan'&nbsp;in the presence of Namdas Tyagi also known as Computer Baba and other sadhus at a Maha Yagna organised in Bhopal on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Tyagi said that the Yagna was a form of `Hath Yoga` to ensure Digvijaya`s win in the Lok Sabha elections and added that BJP had "fooled" the community of seers by using the Ram Mandir issue as a political tool.</p>

<p>"BJP has fooled not just the public but the community of seers as well. All sadhus who are with me unanimously say that without a Ram Mandir there will not be a Modi government again, we are holding the Yagna to ensure Digvijay Singh`s win," Tyagi said here.</p>

<p>Namdas Tyagi or `Computer Baba` was appointed the Minister of State (MoS) position under the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.</p>

<p>However, he had openly rebelled against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being denied the party ticket for the state assembly elections held in Madhya Pradesh.</p>

<p>At the `pooja` Digvijaya is seen dressed in white kurta pyjama seated on the ground while others surround him in a semi circle.</p>

<p>Digvijay Singh will be up against BJP`s MP candidate and firebrand leader Sadhvi Pragya in the Lok Sabha elections.</p>

<p>Bhopal is going to polls in the sixth phase of parliamentary elections on May 12.</p>

<p>"Prime Minister, some ministers of your government say 300 terrorists killed, BJP president says 250 are killed, Yogi Adityanath says 400 people were killed and your minister SS Ahluwalia says that no one died. And you are silent about this issue. <p>He also came down heavily on Congress for questioning the outcome of the IAF raid in Balakot and demanding evidence on the casualty figure.</p>

<p>VK Singh, who is Minister of State for External Affairs, said in Ranchi, "With due respect, I would like to ask Digvijaya Singh Ji, was Rajiv Gandhi`s assassination an accident or a terror incident? Let him answer this first."</p>

<p>Last week, BJP president Amit Shah had claimed that over 250 terrorists were killed in the IAF air raid.</p>

<p>On Shah`s statement, VK Singh said that he did not give a "confirmed figure" and it was just an "estimate".</p>

<p>"It`s an estimate. He is not saying this is a confirmed figure. He is saying these many people might have died," the former Army Chief said.</p>

<p>"The figure is of the attack on Balakot (in Pakistan). The attack was only at one place, nowhere else. The target was selected carefully, away from residential areas, to avoid civilian casualty," he told reporters.</p>

<p>Asked about Digvijaya`s remarks, Congress leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath declined to comment.</p>

<p>Earlier, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had also attacked Congress for its comments on Balakot strike and said that only “Congress party can do this sin of refuting the information of armed forces”.</p>

<p>"In the 2013 Assembly polls, there were around three per cent bogus voters. This time around, we got the electoral list pruned before the elections," he said.</p>

<p>The Congress workers have put their "body, heart and soul" to win this poll, the former chief minister said.</p>

<p>"In fact, this time the workers put in every effort to ensure the Congress wins the polls. This election was fought between the public and the government," he said.</p>

<p>In the run up to the elections, Singh had toured almost the entire state in a bid to thaw differences within the Congress.</p>

<p>The counting of votes will be held on December 11.</p>

It is not the organisation but fight at the top in Madhya Pradesh which&nbsp;has led to its defeat from 2003 onwards.</p>

<p>Congress should remember that when even former CM Andhra Pradesh YSR Reddy got ample time to organise his padyatra in Andhra Pradesh, which was being run by TDP for the last 10 years, he kept it limited to a 3-months time span. Instead, Digvijay has gone for a 6-month padyatra (though he insists its non-political nature) who will neither be made PCC President nor projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the state.<br />

What is of great significance is that over the last 10 years, the proportion of votes going to third parties have reduced significantly, with the Congress and the BJP votes swelling every time. In 2007, third parties got 29.97 per cent votes. In 2013, they got 18.74 and during the Lok Sabha elections, the numbers got reduced to 9.89 per cent of votes. On the other hand, even during its worst performance in 2014, Congress retained 35 per cent votes, whereas, BJP&rsquo;s vote swelled to 55 per cent.</p>

Twitter infuriated over Congress leader Digvijay Singh's offensive tweet on PM Modi

<p>Indian police have filed a criminal case against a politician who recently claimed that they had set up a bogus website to arrest Muslims influenced by Islamic State&#39;s ideology.</p>

<p>The police in India&#39;s southern Telangana state was charged with making statement causing feelings of enmity and hatred, the Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad said on Thursday.</p>

<p>On May 1, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh posted several tweets about the Telangana police setting up an online booby trap to arrest radicalised youth.</p>

<p>Singh had also attacked the head of the local government in Telangana,&nbsp;KT Rama Rao. He tweeted Rao should step down if he authorised&nbsp;the police to set the trap.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the 70-year-old politician did not give further details to back his claims.</p>

<p>Singh&#39;s tweets sparked a row online, with both the Telangana police and Rao reacting sharply to the allegations.</p>

<p>Telangana chief minister Rao attacked Singh for making &quot;irresponsible&quot; and &quot;reprehensible&quot; comments, while the state police felt the Congress politician&#39;s tweets would &quot;lower&quot; their morale.</p>

Digvijay Singh faces criminal charge for IS' online booby trap claim

<p>India&#39;s Congress party today replaced Digvijaya Singh as general secretary in-charge of Goa and Karnataka.</p>

<p>AICC Secretary A Chella Kumar has been made in-charge of Goa.</p>

<p>K C Venugopal has been made general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, where assembly polls are due next year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Digvijaya Singh&#39;s removal comes after he was widely blamed for moving slowly to form the government in Goa in the recent assembly polls.</p>

<p>The Congress which finished as&nbsp;the largest single party in the assembly elections with 17 seats in the 40-member House was outflanked by the BJP which quickly inducted independents and other small parties(MGP, Goa Forward) to form the government in the coastal state led by chief minister Manohar Parrikar even though the party had won just 13 seats in the polls.</p>

<p>The political manoeuvre left Congress red-faced even though Digvijaya Singh tried to defend his position declaring it was against the constitution&nbsp;since the grand old party of India was the largest single party but his argument wasn&#39;t taken seriously as the governor invited the BJP to form the government since it had cobbled together a majority in the Goa assembly.</p>

<p>The former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh will, however, continue as general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.</p>

<p>Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Ajay Maken along with a group of JNU students today met President Pranab Mukherjee over the issue of recent amendments in the university&#39;s admission policy.</p>

<p>The students - part of the Congress&#39; student wing National Students Union of India (NSUI) - submitted a memorandum to the President who is also the Visitor to the university.</p>

<p>&quot;UGC notification on admission rules for PhD and MPhil programme has been imposed on the JNU community in the most undemocratic manner, systematically violating all norms of Academic Council (AC) and other decision-making bodies,&quot; the memorandum said.</p>

<p>&quot;Massive seat cuts and changes in the policy are being put in place that will strongly affect the students community without even seeking their opinions,&quot; it added.</p>

<p>The delegation sought the intervention of the President to ensure that there is no seat cut in the university and any amendments in the admission policy are made after wide consultations with the statutory bodies.</p>

<p>JNU administration and the student community have been at loggerheads ever since the decision was made last December.</p>

<p>While the university had clarified that the amendments will not be implemented retrospectively and will not impact the current students, the students union has been blockading the administrative block demanding rollback of the decision.<br />
