The sixth Regional Dialogue of Secretaries of Security Councils/National Security Advisers on Afghanistan&nbsp;in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek witnessed a resolute commitment from India towards ensuring stability and prosperity in the region.

Deputy National Security Adviser (NSA) Vikram Misri spearheaded India's delegation, highlighting New Delhi's unwavering support for Afghanistan's development amidst the prevailing challenges.

Deputy NSA Misri articulated India's firm belief in development as a fundamental human right, underscoring New Delhi's substantial investments exceeding $3 billion across crucial sectors in Afghanistan involving 500 projects.

These investments span infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and capacity-building initiatives, reaching every corner of Afghanistan's 34 provinces.

Notably, India's humanitarian aid efforts have been substantial, including contributions of wheat, medical supplies, earthquake relief, and pesticides to combat the locust menace. New Delhi has sent 50,000 tons of wheat, 250 tons of medical aid, and 28 tons of earthquake relief aid. 40,000 liters of Malathion pesticide was also sent to fight locust menace after a UN appeal.&nbsp;

India has also been actively involved in supporting Afghan education, granting scholarships to Afghan students and collaborating with educational institutions, which includes 5000 units of stationary items for primary school students.&nbsp;

Concerns over the rising threat of drug trafficking in the region prompted India to collaborate with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), particularly focusing on supporting female beneficiaries of drug rehabilitation programs in Afghanistan. India has sent 11,000 units of hygiene kits, baby food kits, blankets, medical aid to UNODC, Kabul.

Economic empowerment emerged as a crucial strategy, with India extending tariff concessions to Afghan traders and establishing a 'Humanitarian Air Corridor' between Delhi and Kabul to facilitate trade and aid delivery. Additionally, India proposed leveraging the Chabahar port for maritime trade, urging Central Asian neighbors to utilize its facilities and integrate it into regional trade frameworks.

Sports exchanges and interactions were emphasised as avenues for enhancing people-to-people ties between India and Afghanistan.

On the issue of terrorism, Misri reiterated India's commitment to preventing Afghan territory from being used as a haven for terrorist activities, in line with UNSC Resolution 2593. The resolution states that Afghan territory should not be used for sheltering, training, planning or financing terrorist acts; specifically, terrorist individuals proscribed by the UN Security Council, including those belonging to the Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.&nbsp;

India had hosted the Third Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan in New Delhi in November 2021. Notably, NSAs from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan participated for the first time in The Delhi Dialogue.

These are the number of processes currently underway to help stabilise Afghanistan including a Moscow-backed process which the US hasn't been keen to join.&nbsp;

New Delhi has been Afghanistan's biggest supporter in the region. India, through its community development scheme since 2005, has supported over 550 projects throughout Afghanistan. Of these, around 345 projects have been completed while the remaining are in various stages of completion.&nbsp;

The projects are aimed at building basic infrastructure such as schools, public health centres, bridges, roads for local communities. India is the largest donor to Afghanistan in the region and, since 2001 after the fall of the Taliban, has undertaken projects and programmes worth over $2 billion.

India is participating at the Ministerial Meeting on “Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East” in Warsaw with Deputy National Security Advisor Pankaj Saran representing New Delhi.&nbsp;

The conference is being organized at the initiative of Poland and the U.S. on the subject of peace and security in West Asia.

Confirming the participation, spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs Raveesh Kumar said, "India has an abiding interest in the region.&nbsp;

The region hosts a 9.2 million-strong Indian community, whose well-being and welfare is of paramount importance for us. This region is the source of over 50% of our oil and 70% of our gas needs. It is also a large trading partner, accounting for over US$ 110 billion of India’s trade in 2016-17. "

Elaborating further Raveesh said, "The emergence of terrorist groups like the ISIS poses a common challenge to India and the countries of the region. The region is also critical for our maritime security and security of the sea lanes of communication. Given our multiple interests, it was important for India to be represented in a major meeting on the region. "

There have been a number of high-level visits from India to West Asia and vice versa. Saudi Arabia's crown prince will be Mohammed bin Salman will be visiting India next week. Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited India last year and is again expected to visit India. Indian Prime Minister has also visited most of the countries in the region-- Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, UAE.&nbsp;

Many Arab countries and Israel are participating in the summit. Iran's foreign minister Javad Zarif has slammed the summit calling it "Warsaw Circus".
