Tremors were felt in India's capital city New Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) region as well as other states in north India after an earthquake of&nbsp;5.8&nbsp;magnitude struck Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region on Saturday evening.&nbsp;Tremors were also felt in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

According to the National Center of Seismology (NCS), the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan. The earthquake occurred at around 9.31 pm IST. 
 
According to NCS, the earthquake's epicentre was at latitude 36.38, and longitude 70.77 in the Hindukush region of Afghanistan. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 181 km.&nbsp;

Afghanistan is frequently hit by earthquakes, especially in the Hindu Kush mountain range, which lies near the junction of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates. 
 
Apart from Delhi, tremors were also felt in Noida and Gurugram (which fall in NCR) and the Pakistani cities of Islamabad and Lahore.&nbsp;

This earthquake comes months after Afghanistan's Hindu Kush was hit by a 6.5 magnitude earthquake. The tremors were felt across Afghanistan, Pakistan and northern India in Delhi, NCR Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

Earlier at around 8:36 am on&nbsp;Saturday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 jolted Jammu and Kashmir's Gulmarg. It occurred with its depth at around at 129 km, NCS reported.

Tremors felt in Delhi, NCR after earthquake of 5.8 magnitude strikes Afghanistan

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 struck Nepal today afternoon and the tremors were felt as far as Delhi.&nbsp;

The quake&nbsp;was felt at 2:28 pm and was reported&nbsp;at a depth of 10 km. The epicentre was about 63 km to the northwest of Nepal's Jumla district, more than 300 km from the capital, Kathmandu.&nbsp;

The epicentre in Nepal is&nbsp;148 km east of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, the National Centre for Seismology said.

"It was scary as the tremors hit," a Noida&nbsp;resident told PTI.

There were no reports of any casualties.

Social media users in India said they felt strong tremors that shook ceiling fans and other hanging objects.

Nepal has been a hotbed for quakes. In December 2022, three tremors jolted Western Nepal in quick succession.

Earlier, In April 2015, a devastating earthquake of 7.8-magnitude hit&nbsp;Nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people and wounding nearly 22,000 others. Over 800,000 houses and school buildings were also damaged.

Quake of magnitude 5.8 hits Nepal, tremors felt in Delhi

Strong tremors shook Indian capital Delhi and adjoining areas early Wednesday morning after a 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal. At&nbsp;least six people died in the Doti district of Nepal, including three who were killed due to a house collapse. Two of the deceased were children.

Pictures from the area show mud and brick houses destroyed by the earthquake and rescuers digging through the rubble to look for survivors. Nepali army spokesperson Narayan Silwal said that two people are missing. At least five people have sustained serious injuries.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba offered condolences to the families of the victims. "I have instructed the relevant agencies to arrange immediate and proper treatment of the injured and the victims," he said.

The tremors lasted for around 10 seconds and were felt by Noida and Gurugram residents as well. The National Centre for Seismology said that the depth of the quake was 10 kilometres.&nbsp;No reports of damage were reported from India where the tremors were also felt in Ghaziabad and Lucknow.&nbsp;

The quake was centred about 158 km northeast of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Nepal's seismological centre set the magnitude at 6.6. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) had pegged the earthquake at a magnitude of 5.6.

Nepal felt tremors at 8:52 pm on Wednesday that measured 4.9 on the Richter Scale. In total, three quakes have struck Nepal in the past 24 hours, including an aftershock.
