After years of insurgency and militancy, cinemas have returned to India's Kashmir Valley, and the residents are unwilling to miss the experience as seen by the housefull signs that have appeared outside the Valley's multiplex.

<p>The multiplex located in Srinagar's Shivpora area will have three screens and a total seating capacity of approximately 520 people. The building is built as any multiplex but with a touch of Kashmir in it. The owners have incorporated Kashmiri traditional 'Khatamband' ceiling and paper mache designs. Reportedly, the multiplex will be thrown open for the public in September.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kashmir had dozens of cinema halls till early 1990, but with the advent of terrorism, all cinema halls in the valley were shut down. The government during 1999-2000&nbsp;tried to re-open a few cinema halls but subsequent terrorist attacks forced them to close the cinema halls.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Dhar family owned one of the oldest cinema halls in the valley called 'Broadway'. It was also opened for a brief period and later shut forever. Security is one of the main concerns for these cinema halls. However, the owners of the multiplex stated that they have no apprehensions as they are doing this for the entertainment of the youth.&nbsp;</p>

While the government has allowed cinema halls to run with 50 percent occupancy- the crowd still is thin in most halls. Kirti Kulhari watches film on big screen as mark of support to cinema halls

<p>After a gap of seven months, cinema halls and multiplexes will reopen in several parts of the country today with 50 percent capacity and seats will be marked `not to be occupied` for ensuring physical distancing to combat COVID-19. Cinema hall owners in cities like Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Chennai and Delhi have ensured the safety of their customers by enforcing the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines that include sanitisation of the halls, social distancing, paperless tickets, and theatres limited to 50 percent occupancy at a time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking to ANI, Gagan Kapoor, Regional head of Delhi PVR Cinemas said that theatres will follow safety guidelines announced by the MHA along with the global standards defined by the Global Cinema Federation (GCF).</p>

<p>"PVR has involved several goodwill screenings for the company`s employees, health workers, and the police force and their families, who would later act as evangelists for the brand," said Kapoor.</p>

<p>Outside the cinema hall, masks have also been arranged for visitors entering the food gallery keeping in mind social distancing measures, and all incoming viewers will need to download the `Arogya Setu` app on their mobile.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the MHA guidelines, air conditioner temperature inside the cinema halls must be between 24 degrees to 30 degrees for people`s safety.</p>

<p>"Our preparations for running operations are very solid and we have been preparing for it over the last seven months. We aim to provide a safe movie experience to our customers amid COVID-19," Sanjay Barjatya, Regional Operations Head, Miraj Cinemas, told ANI.</p>

<p>Theatre owners are confident to pull off their business with new restrictions and manage the safety of customers as well as their staff members after a seven-month shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>

<p>The Union government allowed multiplexes, cinema halls and theatres to reopen from October 15 within the framework of a set of standard operating procedure (SOP). The MHA left it to states to take a final call on the matter.</p>

Cinema hall owners in cities like Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Chennai and Delhi have ensured the safety of their customers by enforcing the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines that include sanitisation of the halls, social distancing, paperless tickets, and theatres limited to 50 percent occupancy at a time. Speaking to ANI, Gagan Kapoor, Regional head of Delhi PVR Cinemas said that theatres will follow safety guidelines announced by the MHA along with the global standards defined by the Global Cinema Federation (GCF). "PVR has involved several goodwill screenings for the company`s employees, health workers, and the police force and their families, who would later act as evangelists for the brand," said Kapoor. Outside the cinema hall, masks have also been arranged for visitors entering the food gallery keeping in mind social distancing measures, and all incoming viewers will need to download the `Arogya Setu` app on their mobile. According to the MHA guidelines, air conditioner temperature inside the cinema halls must be between 24 degrees to 30 degrees for people`s safety. "Our preparations for running operations are very solid and we have been preparing for it over the last seven months. We aim to provide a safe movie experience to our customers amid COVID-19," Sanjay Barjatya, Regional Operations Head, Miraj Cinemas, told ANI. Theatre owners are confident to pull off their business with new restrictions and manage the safety of customers as well as their staff members after a seven-month shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Union government allowed multiplexes, cinema halls and theatres to reopen from October 15 within the framework of a set of standard operating procedure (SOP). The MHA left it to states to take a final call on the matter.

<p>As of mid-afternoon local time on Monday, 3.03 million yuan ($433,662.52) worth of tickets had been sold on the day, Reuters report stated quoting Chinese ticket sales platform Maoyan Entertainment.</p>

I am not sure if she wants love or not in her life. She seems very confused. But watch the film to understand what she is all about. I made a film and decided to follow her character. I really don’t know her actually," the director said ambiguously.&nbsp;</p>

The film will release on Netflix on June 15th but Kashyap isn't worried that the reach of his film would be limited. "I am very happy the way Lust Stories has shaped up. It's okay that the film is not getting a theatrical release. I make films, that is my job. Now, it is up to people if they want to watch it or not- irrespective of the medium."<br />

The director feels that both digital and cinema halls can co-exist. "They will always co-exist. Digital won’t take over. Some films will stay in web format, some for cinema."&nbsp;<br />

Kashyap was in the capital city to launch the Delhi edition of MAMI year-round programme. The programme intends to showcase latest, talked-about- films from across the world to select audience each month. The Mumbai edition is already a hit and now the organisers have planned to take it outside Mumbai. Lauding the initiative to bring world and Indian cinema to Delhi, Kashyap rued that no such festival existed back when he was in Delhi studying at Delhi University.&nbsp;<br />

"We didn’t have anything like this back when I was in college. There used to be only IFFI and there was no awareness about the festivals. I discovered IFFI in '93 and I was in Delhi since 1989. Had I discovered IFFI back then instead of waiting in the canteen for that girl – I could have watched a lot of films," Kashyap admits with a grin.<br />

Calling MAMI an important platform for smaller films and indies, Kashayp said, "It is an important platform for opening up cinema to the world. Which is why it matters."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from 'Lust Stories', Kashyap's upcoming projects include web series 'Sacred Games' which he is co-directing with Vikramaditya Motwane. It marks Saif Ali Khan's debut in web space and co-stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte. The series will be on Netflix in July. Kashyap is also directing 'Manmarziyaan' which stars Taapsee Pannu, Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal which is slated to release later in 2018.</p>

<p>PTI reported that an official notification announcing the 63-year-old Misra&#39;s appointment was issued by the Law Ministry Tuesday evening.</p>

<p>Misra is the seniormost judge of the Supreme Court.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He is perhaps best known as the judge who passed the order saying cinema halls should play the national anthem before every movie, and that members of the audience should stand for the song.&nbsp;</p>
