Dipak Misra to be next Chief Justice of India

Dipak Misra will be the next Chief Justice of India.

PTI reported that an official notification announcing the 63-year-old Misra's appointment was issued by the Law Ministry Tuesday evening.

Misra is the seniormost judge of the Supreme Court.

He is perhaps best known as the judge who passed the order saying cinema halls should play the national anthem before every movie, and that members of the audience should stand for the song.

Misra will take over from JS Khehar, who will retire on August 27.
