<p>Chennaiyin FC came from behind to hold FC Goa to an enthralling 2-2 draw on Matchday 6 of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai tonight.</p>

<p>Owen Coyle’s men took the early lead through Jordan Wilmar Gil but it was cancelled out by Udanta Singh before the break. The second half saw the visitors go up through Armando Sadiku’s spot-kick but Daniel Chima Chukwu restored parity for the Marina Machans.</p>

<p>The hosts started the game with complete authority as they made some vicious attacks in the first quarter. The Marina Machans had three cracks at the goal in the 11th minute when Lukas Brambilla’s initial effort was blocked, but the ball ricocheted and reached Gil.</p>

<p>The Colombian was also denied but Connor Shields picked up the loose ball yet unfortunately, his long-range effort struck the crossbar. They redeemed themselves seconds later by taking the lead. Initially, Brambilla’s shot was blocked haphazardly by Jay Gupta as the ball rebounded off Gil and ended up in the back of the net.</p>

<p>After conceding, the Gaurs tried to push forward in search of a breakthrough but lacked the final touch in the penalty area. Just when FC Goa were growing into the game, they suffered a major setback with Borja Herrera’s injury closer to the drinks break. Manolo Marquez turned to Armando Sadiku, thereby tweaking his formation.</p>

<p>The change brought some momentum for the visitors as they showed more hunger in attack looking for the equalizer. They had a couple of golden opportunities falling for Carl McHugh, who despite being unmarked failed to hit the target with his headers.</p>

<p>Eventually, Manolo’s men found the equalizer right at the stroke of half-time when Aakash Sangwan, with his beautiful cross from the left, found Udanta Singh in space. The 28-year-old shouldered the ball past Samik Mitra to pull the scores level.</p>

<p>The goal surely spurred them on to take the lead in the second half and they did exactly that. The visitors secured the lead in the 51st minute through Sadiku’s spot-kick after Samik Mitra brought down Dejan Drazic in the penalty area. With this goal, Sadiku became the first FC Goa player to score in five consecutive ISL games.</p>

<p>FC Goa almost scored another goal when Brison Fernandes and Boris Singh combined to haunt the Chennaiyin backline. However the former was flagged offside.</p>

<p>Chennaiyin FC co-owner Abhishek Bachchan said the Indian Super League (ISL) entering its 10th season is a matter of great pride for all stakeholders of the sport in the country. Speaking on the sidelines of the match between Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC at the Mumbai Football Arena (MFA) last night, Bachchan called this a momentous feat for Indian football and expressed his gratitude to both the fanbase of 'Marina Machans' as well as the ISL.</p>

<p>Abhishek, who has been associated with the league since its first season, said, “It’s an amazing feat for such a young league to be celebrating its 10th season. We are very proud of all the stakeholders, owners, team, and the players. It’s a momentous occasion for everybody associated with Indian football. It’s wonderful and a moment of great pride.”</p>

<p>“Thank you for your support, thank you for supporting Indian football and Chennaiyin FC, and I hope that we can hope to entertain you all and play quality, good football for you all for many, many years to come,” he said in a&nbsp;message for all the fans of the league.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chennaiyin FC made an impactful move in the summer prior to this season by appointing Scottish tactician Owen Coyle as the head coach of the club.</p>

<p>This year, with a relatively young squad at his disposal, he has managed to take Chennaiyin FC into the top six heading into the season break. Despite the 3-0 loss to the Islanders on Thursday, the Marina Machans are well in contention to qualify for the playoffs and take it one game at a time from there.</p>

<p>Bachchan hailed Coyle as ‘family’, expressing confidence in his methods and track record.</p>

<p>“Owen is family, and we have always said that once you are a part of the family, you always remain a part of the family. Having him back is just a wonderful boost of self-confidence. He knows the club inside out. He is very dear and close to both Vita (Dani) and me. He knows the DNA of the club. We enjoy the style of coaching and the style of play that he infuses into the boys, and you can see a huge change in the squad already. It’s just half the season gone and he has made such a huge impact,” Bachchan said.</p>

<p>Bengaluru FC snapped a seven-game winless run to record a 4-2 victory against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Thursday.</p>

<p>Mirlan Murzaev (4th) helped Chennaiyin take the lead before Bengaluru scored twice through Cleiton Silva (39th P) and Alan Costa (43rd), albeit riding a bit of luck.</p>

<p>Rahim Ali (49th) got Chennaiyin level but Udanta Singh (70th) and Pratik Chowdhary (74th) ensured the Blues'&nbsp;wretched run came to an end as they moved to eighth in the points table from 10th with nine points from the same number of games. <p>Odisha succumbed to their second straight defeat and dropped a rung to fifth place with nine points from six matches. Chennaiyin have 11 points from six games. Javi Hernandez scored a superb goal but it wasn't enough in the end.</p>

<p>Both teams looked to suss each other out in the opening exchanges and it was a cagey affair before Chennaiyin nosed ahead riding an unlikely source.</p>

<p>Germanpreet scored a goal after six years when he smashed home a rebound after Odisha keeper Kamaljit Singh blocked a cross from the right flank which fell to Germanpreet.</p>

<p>It was the first goal for the 25-year old since 2015 when he had netted for Dempo against Royal Wahingdoh.</p>

<p>Despite being 1-0 down, Odisha continued to give Chennaiyin a tough time but failed to find the back of the net, also adding teeth upfront.</p>

<p>It was end to end stuff from the start of the second period. Lallianzuala Chhangte got a golden opportunity to double Chennaiyin's lead when he was one-on-one with Kamaljit was narrowed the angle and smothered Chhangte's effort.</p>

<p>Five minutes later, Aridai Suarez fired a ferocious long-ranger which cannoned off the post and went out for a goalkick. Aridai came close again but his attempt flew over the bar.</p>

<p>It could have been 3-0 for Chennaiyin after Vladimir Koman was hacked down inside the box, but Lukasz Gikiewicz saw his effort saved by Kamaljit.</p>
