Victor Hugo Sosa, mayor of the town San Pedro Huamelula walked down the aisle with his seven-year-old 'beautiful' alligator bride, dressed in white, and completed all the ceremonies.&nbsp;

Sosa seemed truly in love as he obliged more than once during the wedding festivities to bend down and seal a kiss on the alligator's snout.&nbsp;

While the wedding may seem bizarre to many, it is an age-old tradition in the town which dates back centuries to pre-Hispanic times.&nbsp;

Among Oaxaca state's Chontal and Huave indigenous communities, the ritual is like a prayer to the gods, pleading for nature's bounty.&nbsp;

As quoted by media reports, Sosa said during the ritual: "I accept responsibility because we love each other. That is what is important. You can't have a marriage without love... I yield to marriage with the princess girl."&nbsp;

Despite being situated in Mexico's poor south region, Oaxaca has maintained its rich indigenous culture, through the years.&nbsp;

The wedding involved dressing the alligator in a white wedding dress and embellishing it with colourful garments and accessories.

Locals carried the reptile, whose mouth had been shut seal, through the streets of&nbsp;San Pedro Huamelula, while men waved their hats and trumpets played before the ceremony.&nbsp;

The seven-year-old alligator is referred to as little princess - a deity representing Mother Earth and her marriage to the local leader symbolises joining the union of humans with the divine.&nbsp;

"We are happy because we celebrate the union of two cultures. People are content," Sosa told the news agency AFP.&nbsp;

"It gives me so much happiness and makes me proud of my roots," said Elia Edith Aguilar, known as the godmother who organised the wedding. "It's a very beautiful tradition," she added with a smile.

The residents who attended the colourful ceremony danced to traditional music and devoured the delicious food.&nbsp;

Happily married: Mexico mayor weds alligator in a colourful ceremony

&nbsp;A 101-year-old WWII vet finally walked on&nbsp;the stage of his graduation ceremony after eighty years and officially received his diploma in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Fred Taylor had missed his graduation ceremony which was held in 1943 since he was deployed to serve with the Army Air Corps Reserve during World War II.

"Every able-bodied man and lots of women were involved in World War II," said Fred Taylor of La Mesa, California, while speaking to Fox News Digital.

"I think 16 million altogether," added Taylor.&nbsp;"I have no regrets about going into the service. I really enjoyed flying. My only regret is missing my graduation ceremony, as you normally would end your senior year," he said. &nbsp;

Taylor participated in the graduation ceremony along with 200 graduates of the Cornell College Class of 2023 and all the students embraced him as one of their own.

"Every time I mentioned his name — standing ovation," stated Cornell College's president Jonathan Brand.&nbsp;

"It was heartwarming. It was emotional. It brought full circle his own connection with Cornell. He's gracious, humble, articulate, warm, and loving. He is everything that one could ever hope a Cornellian would be," &nbsp;Brand added.&nbsp;

Speaking about the special graduation ceremony, Brand further said, "I think there was love for him because of his connection to Cornell, because of his military service, because of his endurance."&nbsp;

<h2>A long-awaited music degree</h2>

All the requirements for receiving a music degree from Cornell College were fulfilled by Taylor.&nbsp;However, the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 led the United States into World War II and changed the fate of many young men of his generation, including him.&nbsp;

"Some friends and I joined the Army Air Corp Reserve because we wanted to fly rather than be foot soldiers. On February&nbsp;19, 1943, of my senior year, the Air Corp Reserves were activated and we had to leave the college for basic training in Jefferson Barracks in Missouri. So, of course, we missed our graduation ceremony and that was a very incomplete feeling," Taylor stated.&nbsp;

Interestingly, a few months back, Taylor’s daughter Linda Taylor, who works as a professor emeritus at the University of Miami, reached out to Cornell College to discuss the possibility of her father walking on the stage in the graduation ceremony and finishing what he had once started.

"To find out that we [had] a student who, 80 years ago, missed that culminating moment in his life to actually celebrate the completion of his study — there’s sort of this feeling that something wasn't finished. Here's somebody who served our country during World World War II, somebody who left college so that he could help literally save the world from the greatest threat. What a wonderful way to honour him in front of our students," Brand stated.&nbsp;

"I was thinking … finally. It was exhilarating and sparked a lot of memories. I was also thinking of my 75-and-a-half-year marriage," stated Taylor laughingly.&nbsp;

Queen Elizabeth II's disgraced second son Prince Andrew did not appear at the prestigious Garter Day procession in Windsor on Tuesday, reportedly after a "family decision".

Instead, the 62-year-old Duke of York attended a private lunch and ceremony investing new members of the Order of the Garter, Buckingham Palace said.

Andrew has been largely sidelined from royal duties because of public outrage at his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Outside Windsor Castle, meanwhile, protesters greeted Britain's former prime minister Tony Blair as he arrived at the event

Blair was appointed to the oldest and most senior British Order of Chivalry as a Knight Companion, but protesters chanted "Tony Blair war criminal" over his role in the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq.

Blair walked to the event with Britain's first black cabinet member Valerie Amos, who became the first black person appointed to the order, which was established by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago.

Queen Elizabeth II, 96, did not take part in Monday's procession because of mobility issues, but did attend the lunch and the investiture ceremony.

Her eldest son and heir Prince Charles, his wife Camilla, as well as his eldest son Prince William and his wife Catherine also attended Monday's procession.

Andrew earlier this year settled a US civil case for sexual assault brought by a woman who claimed Epstein trafficked her for sex.

He claimed never to have met her. Seeking to limit the reputational damage to the monarchy, he was stripped of his honorary military titles, effectively giving him no frontline royal role.

In late March, there was widespread public disapproval that he accompanied his ailing mother to her seat for the memorial service of her late husband Prince Philip.

That prompted speculation he was angling for a return to duties, including at the recent public festivities for her record-breaking 70 years on the throne.

But Andrew withdrew, officially due to catching Covid, and played no public part in the four-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
