Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday, has always had close bonds with B-town stars. He often threw parties in which several A-listers gathered and socialised. In one such party in 2013, Siddique ended the long-standing feud between actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

The rift between the two Khans had started in 2008 after an argument at Katrina Kaif's birthday bash. The two stars avoided each other for nearly five years due to the feud.

The feud finally ended at Siddique's iftar party on April 17, 2013. At the time, Siddique was serving as an MLA from Bandra West constituency. At the gathering, Siddique is said to have strategically seated Shah Rukh Khan next to Salman Khan's father, Salim Khan. This was done to ensure the two stars came face-to-face.

As planned, Shah Rukh and Salman greeted and hugged each other. The moment was captured on cameras, and it became a major thing on the internet.

For those unaware, Siddique represented Bandra (West) seat three times, i.e., in1999, 2004, and 2009, as a Congress MLA. His son Zeeshan Siddique is also a Congress MLA from Mumbai.

He quit Congress to join the NCP in February this year. However, Siddique did not cite any reason for his decision to leave the party. He only stated that “some things are better left unsaid."

Siddique has been a minister of state for food and civil supplies, labour and FDA in the state government (2004-08) and was also a municipal corporator for two consecutive terms. He also served as the chairperson and senior vice-president of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee and parliamentary board member of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.

Siddique was killed by three men at Kher Nagar in Mumbai just outside his son’s office around 9.30 pm on Saturday. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital where he was declared dead.

Actor-filmmaker Naseeruddin Shah says he once had a discussion about the definition of originality with Javed Akhtar when he told the screenwriter that his 1975 classic Sholay was a copy of Charlie Chaplin and Hollywood filmmaker Clint Eastwood’s works.

Sholay, which Akhtar co-wrote with former writing partner Salim Khan, is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential Indian films of all time. "I remember Javed Akhtar had once said to me, 'Something can be called original when you can't find its source'. I was talking to him about ‘Sholay’, and I said, ‘You have copied every scene, you didn't leave any of Charlie Chaplin's films, besides Clint Eastwood is felt in every frame."

"But he said, 'The question is not about where you have lifted a reference from, it's about how far you have taken it’. It’s difficult to define originality. William Shakespeare, who is considered a great playwright, apparently was also copying stuff from old plays. But originality was there in the way they presented,” Shah said on Saturday on day one of IFP Season 14.

Directed by Ramesh Sippy, Sholay was a Dacoit Western combining the elements of Spaghetti Westerns, popularised by Eastwood, and Samurai cinema.
"Films of Mrinal Sen, Basu Chatterjee, Mr. Ray were a novelty. A film like ‘Bhuvan Shome’, ‘Sara Aakash’, or ‘Ankur’ received a great deal of coverage but there weren’t that many people making those films."

Nick Cannon shocked listeners on The Breakfast Club when he revealed that he attended one of Sean "Diddy" Combs’ parties at just 16 years old. The 44-year-old shared the shocking detail during his appearance on the popular morning radio show on Friday.

Cannon and co-host Jess Hilarious were the only two people on the show who admitted to having experienced one of the rap mogul’s now-infamous gatherings. Cannon reminisced about his teenage years, saying, "I’ve even been to one when I was a kid like 16, 17, standing outside."

The hosts, DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God reacted audibly, expressing their surprise as Cannon described the scene at one of Diddy's famous New York parties in the late ‘90s.

“I remember standing outside, you know, trying to get into a Puff party out here in New York. Like how the ‘One More Chance’ video looked—that was real stuff,” Cannon explained, comparing the experience to the iconic music video.

Cannon’s story about his early brushes with the glitzy world of celebrity comes during a time when Diddy is facing serious legal issues. The music mogul is currently detained on sex trafficking charges and his lawyer recently claimed that Diddy’s biggest challenge in jail is the food.

Amitabh Bachchan turned 82 today! (Oct 11) To make his day special and memorable, some Big B fans from Poland gave a musical tribute to the megastar who described it as the "most revered gift". The tribute holds a special place in the actor's heart since it pays homage to his late father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Sharing a video of the musical tribute on X and Instagram, Big B wrote, "The day of birth .. and another day in its knowing that the celebration at that time was different to the time now .. and the most revered gift that comes to me is from the City of Wroclaw, Poland." Detailing the history behind his personal connection with Poland, Amitabh shared, "The City of Wroclaw, Poland as you all may know gave me the Ambassador declaration of the City during my last visit there ..It is the City of Literature also and they have placed a molding of Babuji on their main Square .. It is also the City of Elfs and they honoured Babuji with this statue .. They have also named a Square-Street after Babuji, the Harivansh Rai Bachchan street square." “AND ..As a gift from the City they have sent me for this day a most loving generous and overwhelming gift .. Young musicians play the violin as a respect to Babuji 's Madhushala the tune in which he sang it .. at all the prominent locations of the City .. it is a most humbling and overwhelming gesture .. and words fail me in expressing my emotion at this point,” he concluded.
XG released "IYKYK", on Friday (Oct 11) the second pre-release track from their second mini-album, along with a music video on XG's official YouTube channel.

"IYKYK" is a song that expresses XG's desire to push boundaries, portraying the members exploring an infinite universe at lightspeed. The song carries a message of journeying together to new, distant dimensions.

The track samples m-flo's 2001 release, "prism" and incorporates rhythmic two-step beats, creating a floating sensation and building anticipation for the journey ahead. The chorus line goes, "IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW," perfectly capturing the feeling: Those who understand will feel drawn to join XG on this journey to a new dimension.

The music video, also released today, takes a different approach from XG's previous videos. It shows the world from XG’s perspective, exploring how it appears through their eyes - at once mysterious and extraordinary. The video is built around the theme of ‘Sense mutation’ where each XG member's unique sensory distortion allows them to see the true light. This mystical concept is visually represented in the video, inviting fans to experience XG’s dreamscape.

XG is currently on their first world tour The first HOWL. They recently performed in Las Vegas on October 4. Their US tour crosses eight cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Grand Prairie, Sugar Land, Duluth, New York and Chicago.

Following the US tour, they will head to Europe, beginning in Manchester on November 18 and performing in seven further cities including London, Berlin, Paris, Düsseldorf, Brussels and Amsterdam. In 2025, they will hold additional concerts in Japan, performing in Nagoya, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka, with a total of eight shows across these four cities.

On World Mental Health Day, Prince Harry joined social psychologist Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, to discuss the effects of smartphones and social media on young people. Their conversation focused on how technology is affecting the mental health of children and teens.

During the discussion, Prince Harry said, "In many cases, the smartphone is stealing young people’s childhood." Haidt agreed and pointed out on the fact that people born after 1995 have experienced higher levels of anxiety, depression, self-harm and even suicide due to smartphones.

Prince Harry then mentioned that social media companies often blame parents for the mental health crisis among youth, calling it a result of poor parenting. Haidt, however, disagreed with this view. He explained that once children get a phone and social media access, family life often turns into a struggle over screen time. “The tech companies put us in a bind, and then they’re trying to blame us for what they did,” Haidt added.

As a father of two young children, Harry shared that many parents feel pressure to give their kids a phone, especially for emergencies. To which, Haidt suggested a solution. “Give them a phone. Just don’t give them a supercomputer connected to everyone in the world,” Haidt said.

They also discussed the misconception that social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat provide an important lifeline for kids. Haidt called this idea a “myth” and emphasised that the key to helping kids feel connected is face-to-face interactions. “The research is clear,” he said. “When kids have a best friend or a small group of friends, they generally do well. But when they only have hundreds of online connections, they don’t have time for anyone.”

Haidt also stated that 2024 is a crucial year for recognising the harmful effects technology has had on children. “I don’t want to blame any parent because we didn’t know this 10 years ago,” he said.

Cuban reggaeton singer José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar aka El Taiger has died at the age of 37. He passed away on Thursday in Miami after getting shot in the head a week ago. His family confirmed the news in a statement shared on his official Instagram account.

As Idris Elba strode the halls of the Africa Cinema Summit in Ghana's capital Accra, it was clear the Golden Globe-winning British actor was not just a guest. Born and raised in London to a father from Sierra Leone and a Ghanaian mother, the star of both television and the silver screen was at the continent's premier film industry event as a passionate advocate for the future of African cinema.

Elba, who has starred in Africa-focused films such as Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and the shot-in-Ghana Beasts of No Nation, has long been vocal about his deep-rooted connection to the continent.

At this year's summit, which brings together stakeholders in the industry, Elba took on the role of ambassador for the importance of African stories and how best to tell them to the world.

- African cinema's future -

"African cinema is not young. We've been around for a long time," the 52-year-old pointed out, noting the rich film heritage of French-speaking Africa. "But our stories have yet to springboard on that wider landscape."

The African continent has the world's youngest population but only around 1,700 cinemas, compared with around 44,000 in the United States and 75,500 in China, according to the National Film Authority of Ghana.

Elba's belief in African cinema's untapped potential was palpable as he spoke. For him, the key is raising its profile through better infrastructure, distribution channels, and connecting filmmakers with audiences on the continent and globally.

"We need bums on seats," Elba said. "The future relies on us... our own distribution. We must fill the cinemas with our people first."

This Africa-first focus distinguishes Elba's vision from other industry luminaries who often focus solely on international recognition.

Elba said he wanted African cinema to succeed domestically as much as it does abroad.

He drew parallels with Hollywood, where success is measured both by domestic box-office numbers and international sales.

But instead of merely cheering it on from the sidelines, Elba has been working to shape African cinema's future.

He has already taken steps to invest in the continent's creative industries, nurturing African talent through his production companies IE7 and The Akuna Group.

- Passion and optimism -

Where others might see the challenges of financing, education, or infrastructure as barriers to progress, Elba said he was optimistic -- he saw "opportunities in the waiting".

"A lot of young filmmakers are making films on their phones," he told AFP, excitedly describing the innovative, grassroots approach emerging from Africa's youth. "But we still need to amplify those films. We still need distribution methods."

He argued that African filmmakers must not rely solely on global streaming giants like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Though he acknowledged the value of these platforms in showcasing African content to international audiences, he insisted true success lay in building local capacity and infrastructure.

He said he wanted a robust African film ecosystem that can sustain itself, with distribution pipelines independent of Western platforms.

"We want to penetrate international markets," he said. "But we need to penetrate into African markets as well."

- A legacy in the making -

Elba stressed the need for African filmmakers to take charge of their creative destinies. "Just do it," he advised aspiring filmmakers. "The barrier between making your film and dreaming about it is much shorter now."

Driven by his love for storytelling, Elba developed an early passion for acting during his London childhood, working various jobs while pursuing his craft.

His breakthrough came with his role as drug kingpin Russell "Stringer" Bell in the critically acclaimed US series "The Wire," and he later cemented his star power with the British crime series "Luther", which earned him a Golden Globe.

Over the years, Elba's versatile filmography, ranging from Hollywood blockbusters to indie projects, has made him one of the most respected and influential actors on the global stage.

And as one of the most visible African-heritage actors in Hollywood, he said he felt a responsibility to ensure African stories reach the widest audience possible.

"We have a long way to go," Elba acknowledged.

But as the lights dimmed on this year's Africa Cinema Summit, the vision Elba painted was not just one of awards or accolades but of a flourishing film industry that resonates deeply with African viewers while continuing to capture the world's attention.

On Monday (Oct 7), Justin Timberlake gave a lucky couple an unforgettable night during his Forget Tomorrow World Tour at the Barclays Centre. During the show, the 43-year-old stopped performing when he saw a sign in the audience that read, “May I propose to Sarah?”. Timberlake smiled and pointed at the man holding the sign. The crowd went wild as Timberlake handed the microphone to the fan. He encouraged him by simply saying, “You got it.” The man, identified as Donald, took a deep breath and turned to his girlfriend Sarah. He said, “I love you. You’re my best friend. Will you marry me?” Sarah’s “Yes” was shown on the big screens in the arena and the audience cheered loudly. After a big hug, Donald put the ring on her finger. Timberlake joined the celebration by shouting, “Make some noise for Donald and Sarah!” He congratulated the couple before joking with the crowd, “I can’t top that. Alright, have a good night everyone.” Earlier in the tour, Timberlake also shared a special moment at his Montreal show on October 4. He told the crowd that it was his 12th anniversary with his wife, Jessica Biel. “My wife is here tonight and she’s sharing me with you guys. I love you, baby,” he said.
Raven-Symoné recently opened up about an embarrassing but unforgettable moment on The Talk. The 38-year-old actress revealed that during a colon cleanse, she had an accident that forced her to toss out a pair of her beloved Louis Vuitton shoes.

“If you watch the podcast, I have pooped in my pants before,” Raven-Symoné said, referencing a two-year-old episode of her Tea Time podcast titled “poop.” She co-hosts the podcast with her wife Miranda Maday.

“I was on a colon cleanse. I will never do that again,” Raven-Symoné continued. “It was Louis Vuitton shoes, they went in the trash. You just can’t get that kind of thing out.”

During the podcast, Raven-Symoné and Maday explored the topic of poop and its importance in health. Raven shared how her grandmother’s experience with finding blood in her stool prompted her to start paying closer attention to her own body.

“I started inspecting my poop when one day my grandmother said she found blood in her poop, and I was like, ‘Oh my goodness — I have to start paying attention, I don’t want that to happen,’” she explained.

Raven-Symoné stressed how important it is for people to notice the signs their body gives them. “Once you get to a certain age, it’s important to start paying attention to your body,” she said. “Your body can give you so many signs to how your health is. But because people think poop is disgusting, we don’t pay attention.”

In a lighthearted moment, Maday asked if her wife had ever pooped her pants. Raven-Symoné admitted, “Yes. I pooped my pants because I was on a colon cleanse, and this guy was driving me somewhere I don’t even need to tell you, but it was a car service, and he wouldn’t stop to let me use the bathroom.”

She explained how she was too embarrassed to tell the driver she was about to have an accident. “I felt embarrassed to tell him, ‘I’m about to actually s*** in your car.’ The guy was like, ‘I cannot drop you at the bathroom. I have another client’,” she said, imitating his accent.

Raven-Symoné eventually convinced the driver to let her out but the damage was done. “I find a garage, literally, I’m walking to the corner to take a squat and it’s just poop and…” she began before Maday jumped in, asking, “Just pouring out of you? Raining?”

After the ordeal, Raven-Symoné had to clean up in a public sink. “First of all, I wasn’t even mad about the fact that I pooped on myself. I was mad about the fact that I pooped on my Louis Vuitton shoes. I was pissed! I had to throw them away. I didn’t know how to clean them. It was disgusting,” she admitted.

Before wrapping up the story, Raven-Symoné shared a bit of advice. “Listen, the only reason I’m giving you this information is because when you take a colon cleanse, do not get in a car service. Just stay in the house until it’s over because you’re not allowed to fart because if you fart, you s***. You’re unsafe at all times,” she warned.

Alanna Panday's dad trolls her for 'forgetting to wear a top' in The Tribe: 'This isn't LA'

What a gem! Bollywood's heartthrob Ranveer Singh is winning hearts online for rescuing a little girl and her mother from a mob of fans at his upcoming film Singham Again's trailer launch event in Mumbai. As soon as the actor spotted the little girl crying in the crowd, he approached her and lifted her in his arms to save her from the mob. His bodyguards also helped him make some space for the little girl and her mother. After consoling her, he asked his bodyguards to make way for the mother-daughter duo and ensure that they safely reached the other side of the room.

Ranveer, who recently became a dad, was joined by his co-stars Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor at the event. However, Ranveer's wife, Deepika Padukone, skipped the event for unknown reasons.

Reacting to the viral clip, a fan wrote, "He stole everybody's heart." Another commented, "A Father's heart (heart emoji)." A third comment read, "Papa ban gaye hain Ranveer (Ranveer is a father now)... He can feel the pain of a child now.. Can't see her crying."

Ranveer, who recently became a dad, was joined by his co-stars Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor at the event.
Saturday Night Live didn't hold back even an inch when they discussed and made fun of Sean "Diddy" Combs and his ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering case. The disgraced music mogul has been behind bars for nearly three weeks now. He was arrested on September 17 at a Manhattan hotel and is currently locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn.

SNL's "Weekend Update" co-anchors Michael Che and Colin Jost took multiple jabs at Diddy, leaving the crowd laughing and gasping. "It was reported that last month, the U.S. added 245,000 new jobs. Unfortunately, they were all 'Diddy Accuser,'" Che started.

"It was announced that Sean P. Diddy Combs' sex trafficking case has been assigned to a new judge," Che continued. "One that Diddy hopes is cool with rapes."

The conversation then turned to the royal brothers attending Diddy's parties. "It was reported that Diddy once invited Prince Harry and Prince William to one of his parties, but they did not go," Jost added. "Although before Diddy could even finish writing the invite, Prince Andrew was there."

Bollywood actress Ananya Panday, who is currently riding the success wave for her Netflix film CTRL, constantly seeks validation from others since she doubts her talent and skills. In a recent interview, she revealed that she suffers from imposter syndrome, which is the tendency to believe that your success and achievements are undeserved and that someday people will realise that you're an imposter or a fraud.

In a conversation with News18, the actress shared, "My imposter syndrome comes from something as simple as when someone says my name. During interviews and stuff, I feel like my name isn't really mine, and it makes me feel like a third person. That pushes me to suddenly become like someone else. When I see myself on a billboard, I feel like it's not me that I'm looking at. The same thing happens when I watch one of my films. I watch them like an audience member and forget that it's actually me on screen."

In the same interview, she also revealed that she constantly seeks validation and she often reshoots scenes to attain perfection on sets. "I constantly need validation because I'm very hard on myself. Even when a director okays my shot, I'm never happy with it. I always feel like I could've done it better. If it were up to me, I'd reshoot everything all the time because I know I can always improve," she added.

I watch them like an audience member and forget that it's actually me on screen." In the same interview, she also revealed that she constantly seeks validation and she often reshoots scenes to attain perfection on sets. "I constantly need validation because I'm very hard on myself. Even when a director okays my shot, I'm never happy with it. I always feel like I could've done it better. If it were up to me, I'd reshoot everything all the time because I know I can always improve," she added.
Amid his ongoing beef with rapper Kendrick Lamar, Drake is getting bitter towards 'fake friends' who can "switch up" and "stab you in the back". This Saturday, he didn't hold back his feelings when he called out some people who left his side during his feud with the "Poetic Justice" crooner.

While addressing the crowd at Canadian broadcaster Tyrone Edwards' Nostalgia Party, Drake said, "My real friends, are definitely in the building. But I’m going to tell you, you’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were your friends or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up."

He added, "They might try to move funny with you. They might stab you in the back. They might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization, wherever you’re at in life.
