<h2>Massive revelation by candidates</h2>

Anurag Yadav gave a detailed statement to the police in which he wrote, "I was made to read and memorise it at night. When I went for the exam, I found the same questions which I had memorised correctly. After the exam, the police came and caught me, and I confessed my crime."

Meanwhile, Sikandar Yadavendu claimed that Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand boasted before him that they could leak any question paper of any competitive exam in the country and it would cost INR 30-32 lakh ($38,000) for any NEET aspirant to clear the exam.

He also said that he was arrested the next day during a vehicle check with the admit cards of all four students.

The central government has now demanded a detailed report on the aspirant's confession from Bihar police.

<h2>Supreme Court stays proceedings in 3 high courts</h2>

NEET aspirants have approached India's apex court to seek justice and make the National Testing Agency and the central government come clean. On Thursday (Jun 20), the Supreme Court stayed the ongoing proceedings related to the NEET controversy in three high courts as it listed the matter for hearing on July 8.

Earlier on June 18, the court said that even if there was "0.001 per cent negligence" on the part of anyone in the conduct of the examination, it should be thoroughly dealt with.

The NTA conducts all India pre-medical entrance tests.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in the Indian state of Bihar, which is probing allegations that the paper of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) was leaked ahead of the exams held on May 5 said they found evidence that suggests that some students knew the questions before they appeared for the examination, according to&nbsp;media reports, on Sunday (Jun 16).&nbsp;

<h2>What did the police find?</h2>

Media reports citing officials from the EOU said 13 people, including four students, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in the alleged leak and some have also been accused of receiving the question papers ahead of the test.&nbsp;

Additional Director General of Police, EOU, N H Khan told the Indian Express, that they had asked a set of questions to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which organises the NEET exam, and while they might have some follow-ups to their questions, their investigation is “very much suggestive of a paper leak.”

A report by Times of India, citing EOU Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said that they recovered a list of the 13 people from a “safe house” located on the outskirts of Patna.&nbsp;

The police also&nbsp;believe that around 30 medical aspirants had reportedly been summoned by people they described as the “exam mafia” to receive questions and answers ahead of the exam.&nbsp;

Dhillon claimed that four arrested candidates had “confessed” during interrogation that the questions were identical to those they had received at the “safe house” on May 4, according to TOI.&nbsp;

<h2>Education minister denies allegations of paper leak</h2>

In light of the media reports and nationwide protests by&nbsp;students, Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on Friday (Jun 14) said issues were witnessed in six of the over 4,700 centres where the exam was conducted, but otherwise, NEET was conducted satisfactorily across the country.&nbsp;

He also went on to deny the allegations of corruption in NTA and that the paper was leaked, but added that if anything is proven, “no one will be spared”. Pradhan said that they are looking into every aspect and those responsible for the lapses will be held accountable.&nbsp;

The NEET exam was held on May 5 in 4,750 centres across India and around 2,400,000 candidates took it. The results were expected to be declared on June 14 but were announced 10 days earlier since the evaluation of the answer sheets was completed earlier.

The actor's father in later July filed an FIR in Patna against the actor's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty on charges of abetment of suicide and financial cheating. Meanwhile, Chakraborty had filed a petition at the Supreme Court appealing that Sushant's case is handled by Mumbai police.

The Mumbai police have so far interrogated nearly 50 people in relation to the case. This includes filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aditya Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt, film critic Rajeev Masand and Rhea Chakraborty.

Bihar Police too had begun a separate set of investigations on the basis of Susghant's father's FIR.

Notably, Munger has reported the highest eight COVID-19 cases in the state where altogether 24 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The pathogen is said to have spread here from a 38-year-old man who returned from Qatar a month ago.

He died at AIIMS, Patna, while undergoing treatment for renal failure, a day before his test results confirmed that he had contracted the virus.

One of his relatives in Lakhisarai and three persons associated with a private hospital in the state capital where he was briefly admitted before being referred to AIIMS, Patna, have also tested positive.

The state government has intensified the process of collection and testing of samples. All those who returned to Bihar from abroad by mid-March or who have come from other parts of the country are being tested, irrespective of whether or not they are having any symptoms.
