PM Modi is changing India by vision of his leadership: Benjamin Netanyahu in Ahmedabad

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have a packed schedule during the Mumbai leg of his visit tomorrow, as he will breakfast with business leaders, pay tributes to the Mumbai terror attack victims and attend a &#39;Shalom Bollywood&#39; event among other engagements.

Netanyahu will have a &#39;power breakfast&#39; with select captains of the industry, including Anand Mahindra, Ajay Piramal, Adi Godrej, and Chanda Kochhar.

He will later address the India-Israel Business Summit at the iconic Taj hotel in south Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will also attend the summit, sources said.

There may be a one-on-one meeting between Fadnavis and Netanyahu after which the Maharashtra chief minister will be hosting a lunch for the Israeli premier and the visiting delegation, they said.

This will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack victims.

Netanyahu will then proceed to the nearby Nariman House, where he will meet 11-year-old Moshe Holtzberg.

Shalom Mumbai: Netanyahu to meet business leaders, pay tribute to 26/11 victims

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented a special gift from his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli Prime Minister is reported to have gifted PM Modi a water desalination and purification jeep.

The Gal-Mobile water purification jeep is an integrated water purification vehicle which can produce high-quality drinking water.

The machine can purify up to 20,000 litres of seawater in a day and close to 80,000 litres of brackish or contaminated river water every day.&nbsp;

The vehicle can prove beneficial in tackling calamities and natural disasters.

It can easily provide pure drinking water to military personnel and to people living in remote villages.&nbsp;

PM Modi dedicated Netanyahu&#39;s gift to the people of Suigam village in Banaskantha.

A live demonstration of seawater desalination using the vehicle was also done.

The two leaders will hold a roadshow, which will begin from the city airport and end at the Sabarmati Ashram, a journey of eight kilometres.

Around 50 stages will be erected on the roadside along the stretch and people from different states of the country will welcome Netanyahu.

The two leaders, who hit it off during Modi&#39;s visit to Israel in July last year, the first by an Indian prime minister, would visit two centres of excellence and inaugurate another such facility.

&quot;Around 50 stages have been built along the roadside on the eight-kilometre stretch. Cultural programmes will be performed by troupes of different states as well as ethnicity to welcome the guests,&quot; Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation&#39;s standing committee chairman Pravin Patel said.

In defence, I have invited Israeli companies to take advantage of the liberalized FDI regime to make more in India with our companies.&nbsp;

Second,&nbsp;

we are venturing into less explored areas of cooperation, such as oil &amp; gas, cyber security, films, and start-ups. You will find this reflected in the agreements that were just exchanged. Several of these areas are indicative of our desire to diversify and broad-base engagement. 
And third,&nbsp;

we are committed to facilitating the flow of people and ideas between our geographies. It requires policy facilitation, infrastructure and connectivity links and fostering constituencies of support beyond Government.&nbsp;

We are working with Israel to make it easier for our people to work and visit each other&rsquo;s countries, including for longer work durations To bring people closer on both sides, an Indian Cultural Center will soon open in Israel.&nbsp;

We have also decided to start an annual exchange of bilateral visits by 100 young people from science-related educational streams.

Defence cooperation between India and Isreal is expected to see a major leap forward following Isreali Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu&#39;s six-day visit to New Delhi.

For quite some years, Israeli weapons and systems have been making a quiet but steady entry into the Indian armed forces.

The Indian forces have raised, trained and maintained specialised commando units for a range of operations including surgical strikes, anti-hijacking and hostage rescue among others, with all being armed with the Israeli Tavor assault rifle.&nbsp;

The Tavor came into use around 2006 after modifications and is now being made in India.&nbsp;

The Galil, Negev and the B-300 anti-tank rocket launcher are some of the other Israeli weapons used by India&#39;s commando units.&nbsp;

Apart, the Indian Air Force has six Israeli Phalcon AWACS systems deployed on Il-76 aircraft. These can act as airborne command posts and with its powerful radars, it can detect enemy missiles and aircraft over 500 km range.

The long-range surface to air missile system is based on the Israeli Barak-8 and is for use on naval ships.&nbsp;

India has purchased a number of heron and searcher unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for surveillance and reconnaissance. It has also bought the harpy drone, which can be used to destroy enemy targets &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
The army is acquiring more than 8000 spike anti-tank guided missiles and 320 launchers for use by infantry battalions.

Leading Israeli weapons developers and manufacturers are tying up with Indian private sector companies in joint ventures.&nbsp;

Rafael, for instance, has tied up with India&#39;s Reliance defence and the Kalyani group to make remote weapon systems, advanced armour solutions, surveillance balloons and air defence systems in India

High winds and heavy snow in Europe on Monday stranded thousands of travellers, kept schoolchildren at home and even played havoc with international diplomacy.

It was the second day running of nasty weather across the continent, with Britain still digging out from its deepest snowfall in four years.

The snowed-over runways in Brussels on Monday provoked about 90 flight cancellations and some 100 delays, including for the plane carrying Israel&#39;s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu back home.

He tweeted a video from his plane that opened with a shot of the white tarmac at the close of his European visit marked by the US recognising Jerusalem as Israel&#39;s capital.

A scheduled meeting between Netanyahu and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker had to be called off because of the weather, officials said.

Brussels airport advised passengers to stay away, as staff were trying to de-ice planes and clear snow from the runways.
