<p>Parts of host David Tennant&rsquo;s jokes on US President Donald Trump during his BAFTA Awards monologue have now been edited. A sizeable chunk of his monologue was removed from the broadcast. The BAFTA Awards event was pre-recorded two hours before airing.&nbsp;</p>

Due to time constraints, the final broadcast was edited down from three hours to two, resulting in the removal of several segments. What caught everyone&rsquo;s attention was that Tennant&rsquo;s jokes on Trump didn&rsquo;t make it to the final broadcast.</p>
<h2><strong>Many jokes on Trump were cut from BBC</strong></h2>
<p>One of the omitted jokes compared Trump to the supernatural character Beetlejuice. Tennant joked, &ldquo;Donald Trump&mdash;I&rsquo;m worried. I&rsquo;ve said his name three times. It&rsquo;s like Beetlejuice&mdash;I&rsquo;ve summoned him.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Another comment that didn&rsquo;t make it to the broadcast was Tennant referencing the film, <em>The Apprentice</em>, in which Sebastian Stan stars as a young Trump. Entertainment Hollywood BAFTA Film Awards 2025: It was a good night for actors Adrien Brody and Mikey Madison who picked up awards for their acting chops.

BAFTA Awards 2025: It was the biggest night for the British films and TV shows as the British Academy of Film and Television honoured the best of cinema and TV that we saw last year. Among the big wins at the BAFTA awards were Conclave, The Brutalist and Anora. Adrien Brody and Mikey Madison got their due with acting honours. Brody won the Best Actor award for his role in The Brutalist as a Hungarian-Jewish architect. Mikey Madison won for her role in Anora. The film was about a sex worker who falls in love with a Russian oligarch. The Brutalist and Conclave each won four awards including for Outstanding British Film, Best Film and Editing for Conclave, while The Brutalist took home the Best Director award for Brady Corbet. <p>In a great move by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the organisation has decided to change a few things in its rule book. The British Academy has now made provisions to strip winners off their trophies in cases of convictions of crime that result&nbsp;in&nbsp;prison term or “proven dishonesty”. This rule will be applicable to the winner starting from the year 2025.</p>

<p>The same was announced to the media by BAFTA chair Sara Putt after they put together what they call a new “forfeiture process”. This change was brought into effect after the case of former BBC News host Huw Edwards, who pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children this year, was brought to light.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>The need for such a revision in rules</h2>

<p>Shocked by the crimes he committed and a need to revise their rules accordingly, Sara Putt wrote in a letter ro BAFTA, “Earlier this year, we were shocked by the news of the former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards’ arrest and subsequent conviction for child pornography offenses. He won seven individual BAFTA Cymru awards for television presenting between 2002 and 2017. Following the news, deeply complex questions were raised regarding historic awards won by individuals and specifically, whether awards won in competition should ever be removed retrospectively.”</p>

<p>Her letter highlighted that “we are not the only awards body to navigate these complex issues.”</p>

<p>The review concluded,&nbsp;“there are exceptional grounds in which an award won in the competition should be reviewed and possibly rescinded, and that we need to provide more clarity to entrants on this in our annual awards rulebooks,” Putt explained. “Starting in 2025, a forfeiture process will be introduced to our awards rulebooks with specific guidance on what would lead us to consider revoking a competitive award. This will include entries rendered ineligible through proven dishonesty, and the very rare instance of a winner being convicted of a serious criminal offence resulting in a prison sentence.”</p>

<p>The BAFTA chair also highlighted: “We are very clear that our honourary awards, such as our Fellowships, Special Awards and Outstanding Contribution awards, can be revoked because they are gifted by the academy – which means they are not ‘won’ in competition.”</p>

<p>As an ending note, Sara concluded, “No solution is perfect and there may be instances where the outcomes of this review are tested in the future, so we will review these principles and processes along with our other awards rules every year.”</p>
