Netanyahu further defended himself by saying that Israeli authorities send out evacuation messages to the civilians in Gaza through all means to prevent them from harm. He accused that Hamas, on the other hand, uses civilians as a human shield.&nbsp;

The ICC also alleged that Netanyahu restricted essential humanitarian aid to Gaza such as food, water and medical assistance.&nbsp;

Netanyahu shunned the accusation saying the ICC falsely accused him of "deliberately" starving Gazans. He claimed Israel served Gaza civilians with 700,000 tons of food.&nbsp;

"In the last few weeks, Israel facilitated the vaccination of 97 per cent of the people of Gaza against polio. This doesn't prevent the court from accusing us of genocide," said Netanyahu in the posted video.&nbsp;

He was scheduled to visit South Africa for the BRICS summit in August but decided to cancel the plan. Johannesburg is one of the signatories of the Rome Statue and is obligated to arrest Putin if he lands in the country.&nbsp;

In March, Putin was invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Beijing in a symbolic show of support after the ICC issued the arrest warrant.

The last time Putin visited Beijing was back in 2022 to attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, just days before launching the invasion of Ukraine. He also attended the first two Belt and Road Forums held in China in 2017 and 2019.

Since last year, China and Russia&nbsp;have grown even closer amidst increasing hostility with the West.

When Putin was in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping declared a "no limits" partnership, further cementing ties in economic, trade, political and military areas.

Furthermore, China has so far not condemned Russia for the war and instead criticised Western nations for sanctions on Moscow.

As the West announced an embargo on Russian oil, Beijing became the biggest buyer, apart from India, and secured oil and gas at discounted prices.

Russia has also increasingly been using yuan as a reserve currency, in preference to the US dollar.

Moscow and Beijing will be the first public visitors to the country for the Victory Day celebrations since Pyongyang closed its borders at the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Russia’s Vladimir Putin will visit China in October, says Kremlin; first trip abroad since ICC arrest warrant

Pakistan’s top election body on Tuesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against former prime minister Imran Khan in a case of contempt.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against former Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry for the same offence.

The ECP had initiated contempt proceedings last year against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Khan and former party leaders Chaudhry and Asad Umar for allegedly using “intemperate” language against the electoral watchdog and its head, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The arrest warrant order against Khan and Chaudhry was passed by a four-member ECP bench headed by member Nisar Durrani after the two PTI leaders failed to appear before it on Tuesday despite several warnings.

However, Umar was spared after his counsel told the ECP that his client had another case to attend and a medical appointment, requesting an exemption from appearance.

The ECP had asked the PTI leaders to appear in person or through their counsels to explain their position but instead, they challenged the ECP notices and contempt proceedings in higher courts.

After lengthy proceedings, the Supreme Court in January allowed the ECP to continue proceedings against Khan, Chaudhry and Umar. Subsequently, the ECP decided to frame charges against them.

Khan, 70, has been facing scores of cases in various courts after he was removed from power in April last year.

Chaudhry, once a diehard supporter of Khan, quit PTI over the May 9 violence carried out by the party supporters.

Any attempt to arrest Putin will be declaration of war, says former Russian president Medvedev

China appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday to avoid what it termed as "double standards" and respect the immunity of heads of state, after an arrest warrant was issued by the tribunal for Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of committing war crimes.&nbsp;

The court should "uphold an objective and impartial stance" and "respect the immunity of heads of state from jurisdiction under international law", said foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin in a press briefing.

Wang also appealed to the court to "avoid politicisation and double standards", emphasising the fact the Ukraine conflict can be resolved only through "dialogue and negotiation".

China is not among the signatories of the Rome Statute which is a United Nations treaty that governs the court.

The orders were dismissed by Moscow as "void", and with Russia not a party to the ICC it is unclear if or how Putin could ever be extradited to face the charge.

The warrant was issued by ICC just days before Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia, an official trip that the Chinese premier described as a "journey of friendship, co-operation and peace".
