Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro could arrive with a price tag of around Rs 4 lakh in India, according to reports. The upcoming laptop is expected to combine an OLED display with touchscreen controls, potentially marking a major change for Apple’s professional laptop range. Apple is expected to announce new products at its ‘Pro and Tell’ event on October 28. However, the company has not confirmed the touchscreen MacBook Pro, its price or its launch date.
Apple touchscreen MacBook Pro price in India
Reports suggest that the upcoming OLED MacBook Pro could cost between $2,799 and $2,999 in the US. Its expected starting price in India is around Rs 4 lakh, although the final price could differ. The laptop is tipped to cost more than the existing 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip. The reported increase may be linked to the use of OLED display technology and the addition of touchscreen support. If the estimate is accurate, the device would sit firmly in the premium laptop segment. Apple has not confirmed any pricing details.
OLED display, touchscreen and Dynamic Island
The biggest expected upgrade is the display. OLED technology can produce deeper blacks and stronger contrast than traditional LCD screens, making it useful for tasks such as video editing, photography and graphic design. Touchscreen support could allow users to tap directly on the display to interact with apps, alongside the existing keyboard and trackpad. Apple may also replace the current display notch with a Dynamic Island-style cutout. The laptop is expected to be available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, although these details remain unconfirmed.
Apple October 28 event: What else could launch?
The rumoured product line-up may include an updated 24-inch iMac, an entry-level MacBook Pro with an M6 chip and an iPad mini with an OLED display. The premium OLED MacBook Pro models are expected to feature Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, while the entry-level model could use the M6 processor. These specifications and the complete line-up have not been officially announced. For buyers in India, the key questions are whether Apple introduces touchscreen controls, how much the OLED upgrade costs and when the laptops become available. The expected October 28 event could provide answers if the rumoured products are unveiled.

Apple is expected to launch its first-ever foldable iPhone later this year, and new leaks suggest the device could feature a Liquid Metal hinge. If true, this would mark a major design shift for Apple, especially as the hinge is one of the most critical parts of any foldable phone. As per the leak shared by user “yeux1122” on the Korean platform Naver, Apple plans to use Liquid Metal in the hinge mechanism of the foldable iPhone. While the hinge may use Liquid Metal, the main body of the device is expected to be made from titanium.Apple has not officially confirmed the device or its materials, but the leak has drawn attention because Liquid Metal has long been linked to Apple’s foldable patents.
Liquid Metal
Liquidmetal, also known as Liquid Metal, is an amorphous metal alloy developed at the California Institute of Technology. Unlike traditional metals such as steel or aluminium, Liquid Metal does not have a crystalline structure. This makes it stronger, more resistant to bending and better suited to handle repeated mechanical stress.Because of these properties, Liquid Metal is especially useful in parts that move frequently, such as hinges. In foldable phones, the hinge is often the weakest point, as it must open and close thousands of times without wearing out or becoming loose.Liquid Metal is lighter than stainless steel but still very tough. This could help Apple keep the foldable iPhone slim while also improving long-term durability.
Why Apple may choose Liquid Metal for the foldable iPhone
Leaks suggest Apple wants its first foldable iPhone to be very thin. Reports claim the device could measure under 5.6 mm when unfolded. Achieving this requires a hinge that is both strong and compact.Using Liquid Metal could allow Apple to create a thinner hinge without sacrificing strength. Analysts note that traditional materials could add extra weight or thickness, which Apple usually avoids in its designs.Apple has also filed several patents related to Liquid Metal hinges and moving parts for foldable devices. These patents focus on fatigue resistance and spring-like movement, which are key requirements for a foldable phone hinge.
Apple’s past work with Liquid Metal
Apple’s interest in Liquid Metal is not new. In 2010, the company signed a deal with Liquidmetal Technologies, securing a worldwide and exclusive licence to use the material in consumer electronics. So far, Apple has only used Liquid Metal in small components, such as the SIM ejector tool. Using it in a major structural part like a hinge would be Apple’s biggest application of the material to date, if the leak proves accurate.
Foldable iPhone: What else is expected
According to multiple leaks, the foldable iPhone is likely to feature a book-style design. It may come with a 5.5-inch outer display and a larger 7.8-inch inner screen. Both panels are expected to be OLED displays with high refresh rates.Reports also suggest Apple may drop Face ID on this device and instead use a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. Internally, the foldable iPhone could run on Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, which is expected to offer performance gains over the A19 Pro.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is tipped to feature a Liquid Metal hinge and titanium body, promising a slimmer and more durable design. Leaks suggest a book-style fold, OLED displays, Touch ID, and Apple’s upcoming A-series chip, marking a major shift in iPhone design.

Facebook paid users, including teens, to track their smartphone activity as part of an effort to glean more data that could help the social network's competition efforts, according to a new report that may raise fresh privacy concerns.

An investigation by the online news site TechCrunch said the effort, which had been known as the Onavo Project and later rebaptized as Facebook Research, was used to gather data on usage habits.

The news could be a further embarrassment for Facebook, which has been under heightened scrutiny over failing to crack down on manipulation of its platform and for sharing private data with its business partners.

According to TechCrunch, Facebook said it shutdown the application on Apple's iOS on Wednesday after the article was published, but apparently kept it active for Android users.

The report said the initial Onavo app was shuttered for violating Apple's privacy policy and that the newer version may also contravene Apple's terms.

The program paid users ages 13 to 35 up to $20 a month for "root" access to their devices to track their location, app usage, spending habits and other activity.

According to a statement to TechCrunch, Facebook claimed there was nothing secret about the effort and that it obtained parental consent for teens where required.

Facebook did not immediately respond to further requests for comment.

The project may have allowed Facebook to scoop up more data about younger users as it fends off a challenge from rival services like Snapchat, which has become more popular than Facebook among US teens.
