The Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) facility in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad reached a major milestone by successfully delivering the 250th made-in-India fuselage for the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.&nbsp;

The company is the lone supplier of fuselages (central and main portion of an aircraft) for the widely-used attack helicopter.&nbsp;The fuselages made at the Indian facility undergo final assembly at Boeing's facility in Mesa, Arizona.&nbsp;

The US Army and Indian Air Force are among the users of the particular helicopter with the latter having placed orders for six of them already.&nbsp;

The defence-aerospace firm said that this latest milestone reflects TBAL's continuous dedication to bolstering India's defence capabilities and advancing the nation's indigenous manufacturing prowess.

At its 14,000 sqm facility, the joint venture firm between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), employs over 900 engineers and technicians, leveraging cutting-edge robotics, automation, and advanced aerospace concepts in its manufacturing processes.

According to the firm, over 90 per cent of the parts used in the Apache aerostructure assemblies are manufactured in India through more than 100 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) suppliers.

Globally, more than 1,280 Apache helicopters are in operation and they have accumulated a total of more than five million flight hours, of which 1.3 million hours have been during combat.&nbsp;

With the contemporary AH-64E Apache variant in production till at least 2028, Boeing foresees that the aircraft will remain in service as a primary attack helicopter for various nations, into the 2060s.

Boeing delivered the first US Army Apache AH-64A variant in 1984 and thereafter went on to deliver more than 2700 of these choppers for various global customers including Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Israel, Korea, Kuwait, UAE, UK, Qatar and Saudi Arabia among others.&nbsp;

Speaking at the induction ceremony of the AH-64E Apache Guardian Attack choppers, Dhanoa said, "Apache attack choppers are being purchased to replace the ageing Mi-35. This is an advanced multi-mission helicopter that is being operated worldwide by many countries."

Terming it as one of the most fierce attack helicopters, the IAF chief said, "The platform has been flying since the 80s and has proved itself as an operational success across the globe. It is one of the most fierce attack choppers along with the capability to shoot, fire and forget ATGMs, rockets and other ammunition."

The IAF chief said with the induction of Apache choppers, the force has upgraded its inventory to the latest generation of attack helicopters.

The Apaches are equipped with hellfire missiles and rockets, with one helicopter having the capacity to carry 8 such missiles. It also has a canon gun with 1200 rounds of firing capacity at a time along with which two missile pods carrying 19 missiles each can be fixed. The attack helicopter can also be used for reconnaissance.

The US has delivered around 2200 Apache helicopters to various countries of the world. India is its 16th customer, Boeing said. 
Importantly, some of the major components of these machines have been made in India.

A senior US Navy official termed the induction of American-made Apache choppers into the Indian Air Force as a great day for defence ties of the two countries.

US Navy Captain Daniel E. Fillion, from the Office of Defense Cooperation, on Tuesday expressed happiness over the induction of Apache attack helicopters in the IAF.

India has purchased several defence equipment including M777 Howitzers, P-8I aircraft for Indian Navy, C-17 Globemaster, Chinook heavy-lift transport choppers from the United States in recent years.

The two countries have also signed Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA), for mutual logistics support.

In addition to that, US F-16 fighter jets are also a contender for the IAF's 114 fighter jet programme.

Great day for US-India defence ties: US Navy official on Apache induction into IAF

&nbsp;A small plane crashed into a house north of the&nbsp;Philippine&nbsp;capital on Saturday, killing at least seven people, officials and media said. 
 
The Piper 23 Apache twin-engined aircraft, operated by Lite Air Express, had just taken off from a small nearby airport, said Eric Apolonio, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). 
 
It was carrying six people, including two pilots, and was en route to Laoag in northwestern Luzon. 
 
Seven people, including the six people on board, were killed, radio station dZMM and CNN Philippines reported. 
 
All aircraft operated by Lite Air Express were grounded pending investigations, Apolonio said. 
 
&ldquo;Investigation revealed that the said aircraft took off at the runway of Plaridel Airport but unluckily crashed at the residential area,&rdquo;&nbsp;Philippine&nbsp;police spokesman Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao said in a text message. 
 
Police and the CAAP did not give details on the number of casualties.
