A Chinese engineer working at the Dasu hydropower project in Kohistan District in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has become the latest victim of Pakistan's strict blasphemy laws. He was taken into custody for "Insulting Allah."

According to Dawn newspaper, the police have invoked Section 295-C (use of derogatory remarks, etc., in respect of the Holy Prophet)&nbsp;of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The incident occurred at the project when an employee of China Gezhouba Group Company working at the site got into a heated&nbsp;argument with local labourers. The quarrel broke out over the slow pace of work during Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, reported SCMP citing a source by This Week in Asia.&nbsp;

As per reports, during the squabble, the Chinese employee allegedly insulted "Allah." Over this, a few enraged workers assembled in front of the engineer's office on Sunday with the apparent intention to assault him.&nbsp;

A member of the local citizen-police liaison committee told This Week in Asia that police in northern Pakistan have taken a Chinese engineer into custody from a worksite camp at the Dasu hydropower project.&nbsp;

The police made the arrest “to avert a serious situation”, as per the member.&nbsp;A police station in the rural Kohistan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is where the Chinese national was reportedly being held, according to the source.

According to unconfirmed accounts, troops fired warning bullets into the air to quell the crowd. After nearly four hours when authorities had given community leaders assurances that the Chinese engineer would face legal repercussions, the demonstrators dispersed.

Chinese national in Pakistan's police custody for 'insulting Allah' in Ramadan row

Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday called Pakistan as the sole country established in the name of Islam and said that Allah is responsible for the country's prosperity and development in the wake of the current financial crisis.

Speaking at Green Line Express Train service's inaugural ceremony, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader said that he believes that Pakistan will surely progress as the country has been created in the name of Islam.

&nbsp;"If Allah can create Pakistan then He can also protect, develop, and make it prosper," said Dar. &nbsp;"They are trying their best to improve Pakistan's condition under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's leadership," added the finance minister.

"The team is trying to improve the situation ahead of the elections," he said. He added that the nation is still suffering because of the "drama" which started five years ago and stated that the economy was strong during the tenure of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from 2013-2017.&nbsp;

The finance minister called the Pakistan Stock Exchange as South Asia's best-performing capital market and stated that it ranked fifth in the world during the era of Nawaz Sharif and the world institutions' sights were set on it.

Dar added that the nation is paying the price for the "Panama drama", the PML-N government's ouster and similar issues which the country has faced in the last five years.&nbsp;

Originally dedicated to an Arab deity, the temple was eventually modified by King Sanatruq I and his son, Crown Prince Abdsamiya, around AD 168.

The temple reflects the fundamental pattern of other contemporaneous urban temples, namely, three major flanked rooms, with walls separating the main monuments of the western part of the temenos, the traditional name of the stone enclosure of the inner sanctuary of Hatra, from its eastern open forecourt.

Set in the walls that enclosed the monumental core of the temenos, but open to the forecourt, the temple stood in open view to large groups of religious visitors and to trade caravans.&nbsp;

It perhaps also hosted periodic central markets. Thus, the temple was also accessible to the non-resident ‘Arab’ nomadic population, who regularly and intensively interacted with Hatra.

Allat, was also linked to the pre-monotheistic version of Allah, possibly as a daughter or wife of the supreme deity.

A man was arrested on Saturday in Rajasthan's Piparcity area for allegedly sacrificing his daughter to appease Allah during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan, police said. 
 
Nawab Ali's elder daughter Rizwana (4) was found dead with her throat slit at his residence on Friday morning, Superintendent of Police (Jodhpur Rural) Rajan Dushyant said. 
 
A dog squad and FSL team were called in for investigation. 
 
Ali came under suspicion as the house was locked from inside, Dushyant said. 
 
When grilled by the police, he admitted to have killed his daughter to obtain Allah's blessings during Ramzan, the SP added.

Rizwana was found missing in the morning and a search by the family led to the discovery of her body on the ground floor of the house, a police official said. 
 
Ali tried to convince the family that a cat may have killed Rizwana, who was declared brought dead at a hospital. 
 
According to the police, Ali had taken Rizwana to market earlier on Thursday where he bought her goodies and sweets telling her that he loved her very much.&nbsp 
 
At midnight, he took her downstairs, made her sit in his lap and recited Quranic verses before slitting her throat with a sharp-edged knife, the police added. 
 
He then came back upstairs to sleep with the others, they said.&nbsp

A man was arrested on Saturday in Rajasthan's Piparcity area for allegedly sacrificing his daughter to appease Allah during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan, police said. Nawab Ali's elder daughter Rizwana (4) was found dead with her throat slit at his residence on Friday morning, Superintendent of Police (Jodhpur Rural) Rajan Dushyant said. A dog squad and FSL team were called in for investigation. Ali came under suspicion as the house was locked from inside, Dushyant said.
