France and Sweden have said that they will allow&nbsp;5,000 and 4,200 resettlements. However, these are not just confined&nbsp;to afghans. Belgium has pledged to take in 425 Afghans and 1,250 others.

After Taliban took over the Afghanistan in August, nearly 85,000 Afghans left the country and flee to the EU. At that time, 24 EU states had taken in 28,000 evacuees.

People living in Afghanistan are currently trying to battle poverty. In September, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that its engagement with Afghanistan will remain suspended until there is clarity on the recognition of the government led by the Taliban.

Many Afghans have been selling possessions to buy food as the Taliban is unable to pay wages to civil servants. Also, the urban communities are facing food insecurity similar to rural areas.&nbsp;

There is also a threat of a “looming humanitarian crisis” in the country. Afghanistan had already been facing chronic poverty and drought but the situation has deteriorated since the Taliban seized power.

Several EU nations have agreed to incorporate nearly 40,000 Afghans

North Korea's recent ballistic missile tests were "concerning and counterproductive" for efforts to reduce tensions, and Pyongyang should instead engage in talks, the US&nbsp;envoy for North Korea said on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with his South Korean counterpart in Seoul, Special Representative Sung Kim&nbsp;said the United States is committed to exploring "sustained and substantive diplomacy" with North Korea.

"Our goal remains the complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula," Kim said. "That's why Pyongyang's recent ballistic missile test, one of several in the past six weeks, is concerning and counterproductive to making progress towards a lasting peace on the Korean peninsula."

Pyongyang so far has rejected US&nbsp;overtures, accusing Washington and Seoul of talking diplomacy while ratcheting up tensions with their own military activities.

On Thursday, the North said the United States was overreacting to a submarine-launched ballistic missile test that it called self-defensive, and questioned&nbsp;the sincerity of Washington's offers of talks, warning of consequences.

That launch violated multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions and poses a threat to North Korea's neighbours and the international community, Kim said.

"We call on the DPRK to cease these provocations and other destabilising activities and instead engage in dialogue," he said, using the initials of North Koreas official name. "We remain ready to meet with DPRK without preconditions and we have made clear that the United States harbours no hostile intent toward DPRK."

US envoy urges N Korea to end 'provocations', accept offer of talks

Kerala Chief Minister Pinari Vijayan has accepted Dr Kafeel Khan's offer of help.&nbsp;

"I request Kerala chief minister Mr Pinarayi Vijayan to allow me to serve at Calicut Medical college to save innocent lives," Khan said in a Facebook post.&nbsp;

Vijayan wrote back: "There are several doctors who serve in the medical field without any concern to their life and health. I am seeing Khan as one among them."&nbsp;

The Kerala chief minister asked Dr Khan, and other health workers who wished to help, to get in touch with the Kozhikode Medical College Superintendent.&nbsp;

As many as 11 people have died in Kerala from confirmed and suspected cases of the Nipah virus. That includes the nurse (<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/i-am-almost-on-the-way-cant-meet-you-kerala-nurse-who-died-treating-nipah-patients-writes-to-husband-138928">Sister Lini</a>) who was looking after patients suspected to have contracted the virus.&nbsp;

Dr Khan was a paediatrician at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur where over 60 children died in one week in August last year.&nbsp;

News reports at the time said the hospital had run out of oxygen cylinders. And that the agency supplying the oxygen cylinders had stopped doing so because the government-run hospital had not paid its bills despite repeated reminders.&nbsp;

The UP government had denied the allegation.&nbsp;

The UP government later recommended the filing of charges against Dr Khan and others, including the hospital's principal.&nbsp;

Khan was arrested in September last year. He was also suspended from duty.&nbsp;

He was given bail in April this year.&nbsp;
