Davinder Saini, AAP&rsquo;s block president and incharge of the office of local AAP MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa, came to know about her disappearance on April 25 when one of her friends informed the family. As per reports, the AAP leader approached the police on April 25 following which he contactedthe embassy in Ottawa online and lodged a missing report.
The Indian Embassy in Ottawa said that "concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation". It added, "We are in close contact with the bereaved kin and local community associations to provide all possible assistance."
Speaking to news agency ANI, Davinder Saini said, "My daughter Vanshika went to Ottawa in 2023...She wanted to win big in life...I want the Indian government to talk to the Canadian authorities and speed up the process of bringing her body back. I also demand a proper investigation to be carried out..."

Earlier on April 16, 21-year-old&nbsp;Harsimrat Randhawa, a student at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario was killed by a stray bullet while waiting at a bus stop, and shots were fired from a passing car, PTI reported. Harsimrat Randhawa was hit in the chest and rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed, it added. The family had spoken to Harsimrat just two hours before her untimely death.

The legal notice stated that Kejriwal`s statement against Bihar born MP Tiwari is "false, unverified, misleading deliberately" and was made with the sole intention to spread misinformation with the objective of "creating a law and order situation in Delhi".

It said that despite being fully aware of NRC objectives, Kejriwal deliberately made the above said statement with mala fide intention to cause or which is likely to cause, "fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the state or the public tranquillity."

The notice was also issued to AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj for allegedly spreading "rumours" that people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha will be evicted if the NRC is implemented in the city.

The notice read that the remarks by Kejriwal and Bhardwaj will "incite feelings of enmity, hatred and ill will between two communities and the people coming from Eastern part of India to commit any offence against the people of Delhi".

It sought an apology from both AAP leaders within in 2 days stating that their comments are a punishable offence under Indian Penal Code (IPC).

"You are hereby called upon to apologise and publish your apology in at least two leading newspaper, with prominence within 2 days from the receipt of this legal notice failing which the undersigned shall initiate legal actions including, both civil and criminal," it said.

Tiwari had earlier demanded that the NRC is needed in Delhi as illegal immigrants who have settled here are `dangerous and the demand will be part of the party`s election manifesto for the Assembly polls next year.

The NRC has been developed with the aim of segregating Indian citizens from illegal migrants.&nbsp;

AAP MLA Alka Lamba said Friday night she will tender her resignation as "demanded" by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not supporting a resolution in the assembly on revoking late PM Rajiv Gandhi's Bharat Ratna.&nbsp;

The Delhi Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in which it was demanded that the Bharat Ratna awarded to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi be withdrawn, but the AAP swiftly distanced itself from the reference to the Congress leader.

The matter became a major crisis with AAP MLA Alka Lamba alleging she was "put under pressure" to support the resolution, which she resisted and boycotted.

Lamba said she was ready to face "any consequences" and claimed she spoke to AAP supremo and CM Kejriwal who, she said, asked her to resign as MLA. "I am ready to do so", she said.

The Chandni Chowk MLA said she was not happy with the demand to take back Bharat Ratna from Gandhi and staged a walkout in protest.

Interestingly, the AAP later distanced itself from the resolution.

"After I staged a walkout, I got a message from the chief minister to tender my resignation," she said.

When asked whether she will quit, Lamba added, "I have won on a party ticket. I will tender my resignation as demanded by the party," the former Youth Congress leader said.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to pass any interim order on staying the Centre&#39;s notification disqualifying 20 AAP MLAs in &#39;Office of Profit&#39; case.

The court also asked the Election Commission not to make any announcement regarding bypolls in Delhi until January 29, the next date of hearing in the case.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party had on Tuesday approached the Delhi High Court seeking to quash the disqualification of its MLAs accused of holding the &lsquo;office of profit&rsquo;.

Earlier, on January 19, the poll panel had made the recommendation for the disqualification of the 20 legislators, which was given assent by the President.&nbsp;

On January 20, the Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification that the President held that the 20 MLAs stand disqualified under Section 15(1)(a) of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Act.&nbsp;

The EC had made the recommendation while deciding a plea by advocate Prashant Patel, who had sought disqualification of 21 AAP MLAs for holding the office of parliamentary secretaries, which he had said amounted to the office of profit.&nbsp;

The proceedings against Jarnail Singh were dropped after he resigned as the Rajouri Garden MLA to contest the Punjab Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, Senior AAP leader Raghav Chadha said that the Election Commission is acting on behalf of the BJP in a blatant misuse of power.

They say that the Election Commission ignored the legislators&#39; right and request to present their cases. The Election Commission, on the other hand, says that AAP skipped several chances to defend itself.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to pass any interim order on staying the Centre's notification disqualifying 20 AAP MLAs in 'Office of Profit' case. The court also asked the Election Commission not to make any announcement regarding bypolls in Delhi until January 29, the next date of hearing in the case. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party had on Tuesday approached the Delhi High Court seeking to quash the disqualification of its MLAs accused of holding the ‘office of profit’. Earlier, on January 19, the poll panel had made the recommendation for the disqualification of the 20 legislators, which was given assent by the President. On January 20, the Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification that the President held that the 20 MLAs stand disqualified under Section 15(1)(a) of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Act. The EC had made the recommendation while deciding a plea by advocate Prashant Patel, who had sought disqualification of 21 AAP MLAs for holding the office of parliamentary secretaries, which he had said amounted to the office of profit. The proceedings against Jarnail Singh were dropped after he resigned as the Rajouri Garden MLA to contest the Punjab Assembly polls. Meanwhile, Senior AAP leader Raghav Chadha said that the Election Commission is acting on behalf of the BJP in a blatant misuse of power.
