India clinched the T20 series against reigning world &nbsp;champions West Indies after handing the visitors a 67 run trashing in the 3rd and decider match -courtesy of a stunning batting display.

West Indies skipper Keiron Pollard won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling - hoping to take advantage of India's recent inability to post big totals while batting first.

But the hosts went on to produce an absolute masterclass at the Wankhede stadium.

Openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul began the carnage and combined for 135 run stand.

Sharma was dismissed for a 34 ball 71 and skipper Virat Kohli &nbsp;then took over as the chief aggressor for the second half of the innings.

Rahul struck 9 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 91, while Kohli finished not out on 70 from just 29 deliveries to take India to 240- their third highest total in T20 Internattonals.

That chase was always going to be a daunting task and the Windies crumbled under pressure, &nbsp;falling to 17 for 3 inside four overs.

Shimron Hetmyer struck a few big hits and pollard entertained the crowd with his 38 ball 68, but the Windies were never really in contention.

Four Indian bowlers finished with two wickets as West Indies ended their innings at 173 for 8.

Kohli- who scored 183 runs in the three games- was named man of the series.

The two teams will now play three one-day internationals on December 15 (Chennai), December 18 (Visakhapatnam) and December 22 (Cuttack).

Bjorn Fortuin took two wickets in the match and conceded 19 runs from his three overs. De Kock praised Fortuin saying, "I am impressed with Bjorn Fortuin, a young spinner."

"The Indian team is very good to play spinners and to bowl the way he did, I can only praise him at the highest level," he added.&nbsp;

With this win, South Africa levelled the three-match T-20 series against India. South Africa batsman Rassie van der Dussen, who accompanied De Kock during the press conference, called De Kock a world-class player and said he led from the front as De Kock played an unbeaten knock of 79 runs during the chase.

"We probably would have bowled first and I think they did not add enough runs to really put us under pressure. Quinton is a world-class player.... We came here with a goal to win and send a strong message and captain led from the front," he said.

The Men in Blue had arrived South Africa on 124 points, with South Africa 13 points behind on 111 points.&nbsp;

However, Virat Kohli&rsquo;s men will return on 121 points as opposed to South Africa&rsquo;s 115 points, which will be good enough for them to keep possession of the prestigious Test mace for the second year in succession.

Kohli had become the 10th captain since 2002 to get his hands on the mace when he had received it from Sunil Gavaskar following the Indore Test against New Zealand in 2016.&nbsp;
