Chinese officials unveiled new information about their manned lunar mission plan on Wednesday, as China take steps to emerge as the second nation to put citizens on the moon.

China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) deputy chief engineer Zhang Hailian disclosed the preliminary plan during an aerospace summit held in the city of Wuhan on Wednesday, as per state-run news agency Xinhua.

The mission, which is likely to happen before 2030, is part of the project aimed at establishing a lunar research station. Zhang said that the mission will be investigating what is the best way to build the facility and continue further moon exploration tasks and other experiments.&nbsp;

A moon surface lander and manned spacecraft will be sent by two launch vehicles into lunar orbit, before they dock with each other, as per state-run Global Times. After the spacecraft docks, the Chinese astronauts on board the spacecraft will go into the lander which they will use to descend on the surface of the moon.&nbsp;

<h2>Scientific exploration on moon&nbsp;</h2>

While staying on the moon, the astronauts will collect samples and conduct “scientific exploration,” before they go back on lander and reunite&nbsp;with the spacecraft waiting in orbit which will fly them back to Earth, reported Global Times.

Chinese researchers, to prepare for the mission, are busy creating all the necessary equipment like manned lunar rovers, moon landers, moon suits and manned spaceships, Xinhua reported.

The state media reports did not mention how many astronauts China has been planning to send on the mission.&nbsp;

This lunar mission is the latest development in China's efforts to advance the country's space programme, which has gone through several breakthrough moments in the last few years.

China had already been late in the space race - as it failed to send its first satellite into orbit till 1970. By that time, the United States had already succeeded in landing an astronaut on the moon.&nbsp;

In 2013, China was successful in landing a rover on the moon and emerged as the third country to do so. At that time, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, “The space dream is part of the dream to make China stronger.”

Under the leadership of Xi, billions have been spent by China on its ambitious space programme. In 2019, a rover was sent by China to the far side of the moon, which was a historic first.&nbsp;

New global estimates state that over a billion people around the world will be obese by 2030. This means that no country is on track to meet WHO's target to put a stop to obesity by 2025. The new figures come in from the fourth world obesity atlas and produced by the world obesity federation.&nbsp;

One in every five women and one in seven men are predicted to be obese&nbsp;by 2030.&nbsp;

The highest rates of obesity have been discovered in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. Almost half of the people, which is 47 per cent, in the US are likely to be obese by 2030.

Its chief executive, Johanna Ralston, in a report by The Guardian said, "The numbers in our report are shocking, but what is even more shocking is how inadequate our response has been. Everyone has a basic right to prevention, treatment and management access which works for them. Now is the time for joined-up, decisive and people-centred action to turn the tide on obesity."

The study further estimates that 74 million women in Africa will be living with obesity in 2030, compared with 26 million in 2010, and 27 million men in 2030.

Also, in South Africa, half of women are predicted to be obese by 2030.

Dr Adelheid Onyango, at the WHO’s regional office for Africa said, "Our obesity rates have been low in the past, so the incremental growth will be dramatic because of that."

“We are seeing a shift in the consumption of unhealthy diets,” she added. Policies and regulatory systems around processed, high fat and sugary foods are weak in many countries across the continent and drivers for obesity have a fertile ground compared to more developed regions, where there is more regulation and public awareness."

According to the official statement released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the events covered the themes of India's Renewable Energy Achievements and Ambitions, Emerging Areas and Opportunities for Renewable Energy in India, and also focussed events anchored by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA).

Addressing the event on Monday, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy RK Singh said, "India is already ahead of what we pledged in our Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Already 39 per cent of our installed capacity is from non-fossil based sources. By 2022 we will reach our target of 40 per cent."

"We are launching the Green Corridor Phase 2 and we are generally expanding transmission to put in place systems for renewable power evacuation from sites where irradiation is high, or wind speed is high," he said further.

India is projected to have a skilled labour surplus of 245 million workers by 2030, mainly on the back of “vast supply of working age citizens”, even as most of the developed and developing economies are expected to grapple with talent crunch at that time, says a study.&nbsp;

Organisational consulting firm Korn Ferry today said there is likely to be a “talent deficit of 85.2 million workers” by 2030 across the 20 major developed and developing economies that were covered in the study.

“This global skills shortage could result in USD 8.452 trillion in unrealised annual revenue by 2030 – equivalent to the combined GDP of Germany and Japan,” the study said. According to the study, India is the only country expected to have a surplus of highly skilled financial and business services labour by 2030. “India is projected to have a skilled-labour surplus of around 245.3 million workers by 2030, the only country in our study expected to have a surplus, owing mainly to its vast supply of working-age citizens and government programmes to boost workers’ skills,” it noted.

While noting that India is expected to overtake China to become the world’s most populous country in the next six years, the study said India’s median age is predicted to be just over 31 by 2030, meaning it has a vast supply of working-age citizens. The government has also been announcing programmes to boost workers’ skills and capacities, it added. “Industries, where the talent surplus will be the most visible in India, include the financial services with a surplus of 1.1 million, technology, media, telecommunications (TMT) at 1.3 million and manufacturing at 2.44 million of extra manpower in 12 years,” the study said. Regarding the global trend, Korn Ferry said the impact of the talent crunch is so significant that the continued predominance of sector powerhouses is in question, from London as a global financial services centre to the US as a technology leader to China as a key manufacturing base. “As a result, organisations may be prompted to relocate their headquarters and operational centres to places where the talent supply is more plentiful. Governments will be forced to invest in improving their people’s skills to avert corporate flight and to defend their nations’ income and status,” the study said.

Another finding was that global growth, demographic trends, under-skilled workforces, and tightening immigration mean that even significant productivity leaps enabled by technological advances would be insufficient to prevent the talent crunch. Organisational consulting firm Korn Ferry today said there is likely to be a “talent deficit of 85.2 million workers” by 2030 across the 20 major developed and developing economies that were covered in the study. “This global skills shortage could result in USD 8.452 trillion in unrealised annual revenue by 2030 – equivalent to the combined GDP of Germany and Japan,” the study said. According to the study, India is the only country expected to have a surplus of highly skilled financial and business services labour by 2030. “India is projected to have a skilled-labour surplus of around 245.3 million workers by 2030, the only country in our study expected to have a surplus, owing mainly to its vast supply of working-age citizens and government programmes to boost workers’ skills,” it noted. While noting that India is expected to overtake China to become the world’s most populous country in the next six years, the study said India’s median age is predicted to be just over 31 by 2030, meaning it has a vast supply of working-age citizens.
