<p>A team of Sherpas started searching for Shrinivas on Saturday morning, according to Bharath, who was quoted by a Singaporean news outlet on Saturday. He apparently last spoke to base camp staff at a height of about 8,500 metres. Bharath stated in the appeal that the family had contacted the relevant governments.</p>

<p>"This matter needs to be brought to their attention on an urgent basis. We need a special rescue team that is trained to operate in such risky terrain as well as to ensure that this whole rescue operation is not hindered by diplomatic paperwork," Channel News Asia quoted Bharath as saying.</p>

<p>She noted that although Shrivinas' family was upset, they were determined not to give up. On April 1, Shrinivas, a 39-year-old executive director at Jones Lang LaSalle, departed for Mount Everest. He was expected to return home on June 4.</p>

<h2><strong>Last spoke on Friday&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Shrinivas'&nbsp;wife Sushma Soma told The Straits Times that he last spoke with her on Friday at around 3:30 pm, informing her that he had reached the peak of Everest but was not expected to return.</p>

The FIPIC, which was launched in 2014, involves India and 14 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) — Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Samoa, Vanuatu, Niue, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Cook Islands, Palau, Nauru and the Solomon Islands.<br />

India's Ministry of External Affairs, in a press release, stated that Prime Minister Modi will engage in bilateral engagements in Papua New Guinea which will include meetings with Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae and Prime Minister James Marape.<br />

<h2><strong>Congress's victory in Karnataka</strong></h2>

<p>After a 10-year absence, the Congress returned to power in Karnataka on its own strength on May 13, with victories or leads in 137 of 224 seats.</p>

<p>The party has received an overwhelming mandate from the voters. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has borne the price for "various failures." The regional party, the Janata Dal (Secular), has once again demonstrated that it is not a force to be reckoned with throughout the state.</p>

<p>Karnataka was the BJP's lone southern state. The state upheld its tradition of not re-electing a political party.</p>

<p>There might be a variety of reasons why an election is won or lost. However, some elements become apparent. For example, the ruling BJP is still a party that needs to spread across the state. The Congress, on the other hand, is thoroughly anchored in each district.</p>

<p>A swing of 2-5 percentage points is enough for the Congress to prevail over the BJP. Unlike the BJP, the Congress state leaders accepted the responsibility of guiding the party to the polls, reported Moneycontrol.&nbsp;</p>

The Congress didn't simply depend on its own strategy; it also enlisted the help of political organisations to boost its campaign.</p>

<p>A scammer impersonating as a&nbsp;Maharashtra narcotics division employee scammed a Delhi doctor into paying Rs 4.47 crore ($ 548K).&nbsp;The scamster told the 34-year-old woman that a huge amount of MDMA drug had been discovered in a FedEx delivery associated with her.</p>

<p>Then members of the cyber criminal gang posed as officers from the Andheri police station, RBI officials, a DCP from Mumbai Police, customs sleuths, and Narcotics division detectives to swindle money from the victim.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per&nbsp;a TOI report, Delhi Police filed a FIR against the scammers and launched a technical investigation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, it is being reported as Delhi's largest cyber crime, which began with a phone call to the victim. The crooks told the woman doctor that her FedEx shipment had been confiscated as it has MDMS drug.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The caller instructed her to submit a report with the Andheri police station, and the policemen told her to file the case online because the victim was in Delhi. She was instructed to download the Skype application.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A woman purporting to be Inspector Patil communicated with the victim over Skype and spoke with someone else about validating her Aadhaar ID. According to report, the victim overheard a conversation in which her ID was used to create 23 bank accounts in Mumbai and was flagged for money laundering.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Following that, she was asked to produce photographs of her bank accounts with the balances and to provide her whole financial information. On the callers' directions, the victim got caught in&nbsp;their web of lies and even broke her fixed deposits for verification.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another police officer instructed her to fill up RTGS papers, and other authorities posing as RBI personnel, as well as the Mumbai Narcotics Division officials, joined the cyber fraud and stole Rs 4.47 crore&nbsp;($548K)&nbsp;from the doctor.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The central government in India on Friday (May 19) issued an ordinance to constitute the 'National Capital Civil Services Authority' in the national capital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ordinance comprises of Delhi CM, Chief Secy and Home Secy of the Delhi government and it will now decide on the transfer and posting of Group 'A' officers and DANICS officers serving in Delhi government.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Provided also that in case of difference of opinion, the decision of the Lieutenant Governor shall be final," the order read.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ordinance comes a week after the Indian Supreme Court (SC) handed over the control of services in the national capital to the Delhi government. Police, public order and land were excluded.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A few days ago, SC ruled that the New Delhi government has legislative and executive powers over services, a massive boost to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s government in the capital of the nation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>SC heard the Centre versus the Delhi government case over the demarcation of power. A constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said an elected government needs to have control over the administration.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"All matters required to be decided by the authority shall be decided by a majority of votes of the members present and voting. All recommendations of the authority shall be authenticated by the member secretary," the ordinance said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ordinance said that "there shall be an authority to be known as the National Capital Civil Service Authority to exercise the powers conferred on, and discharge the functions assigned to it".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The authority is supposed to meet at a time and place as the member secretary decides with the approval of the chairperson.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The central government, in consultation with the authority, shall determine the nature and the categories of officers and other employees required to assist the authority in the discharge of its functions and provide the authority with such officers and employees, as it may deem fit....&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force, the National Capital Civil Service Authority shall have the responsibility to recommend the transfers and postings of all the Group 'A' officers and officers of DANICS serving in the affairs of the government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi but not officers serving in connection with any subject matter," it read.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>AAP reacts</strong></h2>

<p>Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the Centre was planning to bring an ordinance to overturn the apex court verdict.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Atishi said the Centre's ordinance is a "clear-cut case of contempt of court".&nbsp;</p>

<p>As quoted by news agency PTI, She said, "The Modi government has gone against the unanimous decision of the Supreme Court's constitution bench. The court had directed that the elected government be given powers to take decisions independently, as per its will, as per the principles of democracy."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"But the Centre's ordinance is a reflection of the (Narendra) Modi government being a graceless loser. The Centre's sole motive to bring this ordinance is to snatch powers from the Kejriwal government," she added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>AAP chief spokesperson and Services Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the Centre had "deceived" the people of Delhi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This has never happened in the history of the country. This is deception committed with the Supreme Court and the people of Delhi who have chosen Kejriwal thrice to be the CM. He doesn't have any powers but the LG, who has not even been chosen but forced upon people, will have powers and through him the Centre will keep tabs on the work happening in Delhi. This is contempt of court," he said.</p>
