<p><strong>Weather Today:</strong> The monsoon season continues in India. The northern hill state of Himachal Pradesh has not seen any relief from the continuous heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert till Friday (Aug 25) predicting moderate to heavy rainfall, amid flash floods and landslides that have ravaged the area.&nbsp;</p>

<p>IMD scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma speaking to ANI said, "There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in parts of the districts of Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Una, Bilaspur and Kangra. We have issued a yellow alert for August 24 and 25."</p>

<p>The IMD scientist added that in the last 24 hours, the state has experienced light to moderate rainfall in several areas, while districts like Mandi, Kangra, Shima and Sirmaur saw heavy to very heavy rainfall. Joginder Nagar reported 154 mm, Palampur reported 136 mm and 70 mm of rainfall in Sirmaur.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sharma said, "Shimla has the most departure of 103 per cent. Bilaspur has seen 86 per cent more rainfall. August saw 10 per cent more rainfall than usual and the most was in Mandi and Bilaspur."</p>

<p>Following the alert, the Himachal Pradesh administration has taken measures to ensure the safety of the residents. Almost 30 routes including Mandi, Kullu and Dharamshala have been suspended by the state transport department.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Vietnam tops&nbsp;the list with 12 million female cryptocurrency owners, or 24 per cent of the female population. With 47 per cent female cryptocurrency owners, Vietnam has&nbsp;the most even gender distribution. Philippines comes second with 9.6 per cent, representing over 5.5 million female cryptocurrency owners.</p>

<p>Kenya and Colombia are tied for&nbsp;third place, with women making up 42 per cent of all cryptocurrency owners in both nations. India comes&nbsp;in eighth, with male and female crypto ownership at 60 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively.</p>

<p>According to the study, “This is a difference of just six percentage points, showing that female access to digital currencies is being supported by the local culture.”</p>

<p>Blockchain advisor Kamlesh Nagware differs&nbsp;from the study, saying that women investing in crypto is not a question of being supported by the local culture but has more to do with the “hype” surrounding it. “People are seeking opportunities, educated ladies especially, want to begin and set up their own new ventures.”</p>

<p>According to Chandra, in the Indian context, developer groups, both national and international are empowering and supporting women in this domain. He said that platforms like The Pheonix Guild have assisted in increasing awareness about digital and block work investments among women. “Not-for-profit orgnaisations and other established ones like Google are also working in the background to make women more employable,” he said.</p>

<p>Chandra said that there is more noise and less substance when it comes to talking about investment risks, adding that information asymmetry has been influencing investment decisions, as there are limited neutral voices but more biased content.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The lack of regulatory oversight, no definitive laws for protection and the lack of credible sources or ‘self proclaimed experts,’ pose additional threats for making crypto investments.</p>

<p>Nagware, on the other hand, said, “Understanding the regulatory culture, the laws involved and the security concerns about money laundering is essential. Grasping the technology involved and educating oneself about the domain are equally important.” He further discourages&nbsp;investors from making decisions based on inputs from crypto influencers.</p>

<p>Despite these setbacks, Chandra said that increasing asset tokenisation which in turn improves asset liquidity and the opening up of other asset classes are some of the positives women get to explore while investing in crypto. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has filed a fresh status report before the Supreme Court apprising it that out of 24 investigations arising out of the Hindenburg report, 22 are final in nature and 2 are interim in nature.<br />
SEBI submitted that with respect to the interim investigation reports SEBI has sought information from external agencies and entities and upon receipt of such information will evaluate the same vis-a-vis the interim investigation report to determine further course of action, if any, in the matters.</p>

<p>SEBI submitted that it shall take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigations in accordance with law in various aspects.</p>

<p>The investigation was carried out in compliance with the directions of the top court's order dated March 2, 2023, SEBI has investigated 24 matters.</p>

<p>In the mid of May, the top court gave three months more time to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to conduct a probe into the Hindenburg report SEBI was granted time till 14 August 2023 to conduct the probe.</p>

<p>On March 2, the apex court directed the capital market regulator SEBI to investigate any violations of securities law by the Adani Group in the wake of the Hindenburg report, which led to a massive wipeout of more than USD140 billion of the Adani Group's market value.</p>

<p>Supreme Court, on March 2, set up an expert committee on the issue arising from the Hindenburg Research report on Adani Group companies. The committee will consist of six members, headed by former apex court judge Justice AM Sapre.</p>

<p>The top court had then asked SEBI to file a status report within two months.</p>

<p>The apex court was then hearing petitions pertaining to the Hindenburg report, including the constitution of a committee relating to regulatory mechanisms to protect investors' interests.</p>

<p>The January 24 Hindenburg report alleged stock manipulation and fraud by the conglomerate.</p>

<p>The Adani Group has attacked Hindenburg as "an unethical short seller", stating that the report by the New York-based entity was "nothing but a lie". A short-seller in the securities market books gains from the subsequent reduction in the prices of shares.&nbsp;</p>

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has filed a fresh status report before the Supreme Court apprising it that out of 24 investigations arising out of the Hindenburg report, 22 are final in nature and 2 are interim in nature.

SEBI submitted that with respect to the interim investigation reports SEBI has sought information from external agencies and entities and upon receipt of such information will evaluate the same vis-a-vis the interim investigation report to determine further course of action, if any, in the matters. SEBI submitted that it shall take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigations in accordance with law in various aspects.
