‘Media has got no clue’: Gautam Gambhir on his relationship with Virat Kohli

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir has commented on his relationship with Virat Kohli, saying howmediahad sensationalised the dynamics between the duo when they had on-field arguments.
Taking a dig at the media, Gambhir said they had no idea of the nuances and the complex relationship the former Indian teammates had nurtured over the years.
"It is all about TRPs. Media hasgotno clue what kind of a person I am, what kind of a person Virat is. All the media wants to do is create hype. But hype can also be createdin a positive way," Gambhir observed, underscoring the impact of media coverage on public opinion.
"Iabsolutelysecond what Virat said. Logon ka masala nahi mila toh (The gossip bit is over for people). As I said, when two people are mature enough, I don't thinksoanyone has got any right to interfere between two people's life or their relationships because ultimately, it is between two of them," Gambhir added.

People are disappointed
Gambhir was referring to a recent statement made by Kohli wherein the latter said peoplewere left disappointed after he hugged Naveen-ul-Haq and Gambhir instead of beefing with them at the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
"People are disappointed with my behaviour. I hugged Naveen and Gauti bhai also hugged me that day. So they have lost their masala (gossip)," said Kohli at a promotional event.
Notably, ahead of RCB's match against KKR, there was a lot of chatter surrounding another round of fight between Kohli and Gambhir. However, both showed great camaraderie and hugged each other after the end of the match which KKR won.
The tussle between Kohli, Gambhir and Naveen had reached a crescendo last year when the latter was in Lucknow Super Giants as part of the backroom staff.
After the spat, the three cricketers were handed heavy fines. While Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 per cent of their match fees, Naveen had to forego 50 per cent of his match fee. IPL also released a statement conveying that Kohli and Gambhir confessed to having committed a Level 2 offence.
