Despite being critically acclaimed, Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj underperformed at the box office. Based on an actual incident, in the gripping drama, Kumar plays Jaswant Singh Gill, who led the rescue mission and saved the lives of 65 miners. The film was only able to rake in Rs 45 crore (Rs 450 million).

Arjun Kapoor and Tabu chaotic movie was one of the biggest disasters of 2023. Coming from Vishal Bharadwaj's son Aasmaan, the movie failed miserably and earned around Rs. 4.65 crore (Rs 46.5 million).

Comedian-turned-actor, Kapil Sharma's film earned plaudits for the critical message that the movie delivered. But, the Nandita Das directorial failed to earn big numbers at the box office. The movie earned Rs 3 crore (Rs 30 million) at the box office.

R Balki’s sports drama Ghoomer starring Abhishek Bachchan, and Saiyami Kher tells a heartwarming yet inspiring story of Anina, who aspires to play for the Indian cricket team one day but loses her arm in a brutal accident. The movie earned rave reviews from the critics. But, failed to create a mark at the box office. The movie earned Rs 7 crore (Rs 70 million) at the box office.

Tiger Shroff's Ganapath: A Hero is Born was another big warning of why Bollywood needs to prioritise the quality of the content and what they are serving to the audience. Starring Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Amitabh Bachchan, the movie with a hard-to-understand plot and weak screenplay earned the tag of the worst film of the year.
