Musicians and their feuds! 5 infamous music industry spats

Everyone knows about the infamous feud between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun. The famous feud started in 2019 after Braun acquired Big Machine Label Group which holds the rights to Swift`s first six albums.

Later, she announced her plans to re-record her first six studio albums after. In a new interview with CBS, the Grammy winner said back then that she “absolutely” will re-record her first six albums. 
 

After the release of his comeback album 'Invincible', King of Pop Michael Jackson lashed out at the music industry's treatment of black artists. Jackson took to the streets of New York City with a group of fans and blasted Sony outside of their New York Head Office.
 
He accused his record label of racism, saying, "The recording companies really, really do conspire against the artists -- they steal, they cheat, they do everything they can. [Especially] against the black artists."

On January 26, Neil Young demanded in an open letter to Spotify to remove his music from the platform. He said they are spreading vaccine disinformation via the popular podcaster Joe Rogan. 

"I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines -- potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them," wrote the legendary singer.

"They can have Rogan or Young. Not both."

Prince had a big clash with record label Warner Bros. when he finally decided to end the 100 million contract that he had signed in the early ‘90s. Reports say, that the rapper had many demands like releasing music whenever he wanted, and he also wanted to own the original master tapes for his albums.

In the midst of the dispute, in 1993, he changed his stage name to the unpronounceable symbol Logo, known to fans as the 'Love Symbol' and was sometimes referred to as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

He said at the time, “The company owns the name Prince and all related music marketed under Prince. I became merely a pawn used to produce more money for Warner Bros.”

Everything was settled later, and a more big surprise came in 2014 when Prince re-signed a deal with Warner Bros. to release a reissue of 'Purple Rain' for its 30th anniversary.
 

American Idol Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson got in a public war of words with then SonyBMG head Clive Davis. After giving out two hit albums, Clarkson wrote her third album and presented it to SonyBMG label boss Clive. However, he was dissatisfied with the album. Davis reportedly wanted Clarkson to make significant changes to the album, with some rumours claiming that he even wanted to delete the entire album, and have her record all-new material, which Clarkson denied. 

Clarkson told one publication flat out, “I am not a fan [of Davis]…I do respect him, but I don’t want to barbecue with him. We don’t braid each other’s hair. And, despite the rumors, he is nowhere near a father figure.”
