
Elena Rybakina became the first Kazakhstani to win a major tennis title. She defeated this year's finalist Ons Jabeur 3–6, 6–2, 6–2 in the final, to write her name in history books.

The Australian defeated Karolína Plíšková 6-3,6-7,6-3, in the final to become the first Australian champion since Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980. Her victory led to her becoming the fourth player in the history of the competition to win the women's singles title after previously winning the girls' singles title.

The 31-year-old former world No.1 defeated the great Serena Williams in the final 6–2, 6–2 to write her name in the history books. The match was over within 56 minutes and Halep committed a major-final record of just three unforced errors.

Arguably the greatest female tennis player, Serena Williams won the trophy after she defeated Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-3 in the championship match. She matched Steffi Graf's Open Era record by winning her seventh Wimbledon singles title and her 22nd major singles title overall.
