<p>Indian actress Sonakshi Sinha who debuted with Salman Khan starrer “Dabangg” in 2010 feels that the regional cinema works in a more organised manner than the Hindi cinema industry.</p>

<p>In an interview, Sonakshi revealed that there are certain facets in regional cinema than are better than those in mainstream Hindi film industry. She, however, feels that it’s unfair to say that Hindi films don’t grab as much attention from other parts of the country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sonakshi who worked in a Tamil film “Linga” with superstar Rajinikanth in 2014 spoke about her experience of working in a regional film. Talking about her experience, she said, “I have done a Tamil film, and based on that I can say that their style of work is slightly better than how we work over here (in Bollywood)."</p>

<p>"In terms of timings, vision, originality and the concepts that they come up with... like the stuff they make over there, we could not even imagine making over here. Otherwise, why hasn't a 'Baahubali' been conceptualised in Hindi cinema till today? And they have gone and done it and we can all see how," she added.</p>

<p>Sonakshi, however, keeps Hindi film industry above any other as she spoke about it being her “first love”. She said, "I really respect the way they (regional filmmakers and actors) work, but yes it is unfair to say that we (Hindi filmmakers) cannot do it. Where there is a will, there is a way. If we want to do it, we can do it, we will do it.”</p>

<p>The issue was recently raised by filmmaker Shekhar Gupta as the jury head of the 65th National Film Awards last month, who said Hindi cinema was far behind regional cinema in terms of content and treatment of subjects.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sonakshi will next be seen in “Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi”, “Kalank” and “Dabangg 3”.</p>

<p>A massive dust storm hit the national capital in the wee hours of Wednesday.</p>

<p>Strong winds, accompanied by dust, lashed the city while bringing a sudden decline in the temperature.</p>

<p>This comes after the deadly storm on May 13-14 claimed over 80 lives across five states in the country.</p>

<p>During that time, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had said that the thunderstorm will continue for the next 48 to 72 hours.</p>

<p>Previously on May 2, at least 100 people died in north India and some other states, owing to thunderstorms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier, in West Bengal, five deaths were reported from Howrah district, while two deaths each from West Midnapore, North 24-Parganas and Nadia districts and one from Murshidabad district, as per reports.</p>

<p>According to a report by Hindustan Times, the Met office said that in coastal areas, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, interior parts of south Karnataka, north Tamil Nadu and Kerala will also see thunderstorm activity. Northeastern part of India is also expected to experience some activity.</p>

<p>Dismissing the government vs media debate, he said his ministry would work in a direction where any media, whether public broadcaster Prasar Bharati or private channels, becomes the 'voice of people'.</p>

<p>"The Prime Minister is very clear that the media in our country is one of the very important pillars of democracy and they have to self-regulate," Mr Rathore told reporters.</p>

<p>Mr Rathore assumed charge as Minister of State (Independent charge) of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry after replacing Smriti Zubin Irani. He also holds the portfolio of Sports Ministry.</p>

<p>In the Indian media, the minister said, self-regulation was done in various layers, first by a journalist and then by editors. The government believes in self-regulation by the media, he added.</p>

<p>The comments assume significance in the backdrop of a controversial press release issued by the ministry last month on fake news. The communique was widely criticised by media organisations and subsequently withdrawn after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention.</p>

<p>To a query over the ministry issuing an order last month for the constitution of a committee to frame rules to regulate news portals and media websites, Mr Rathore said, I think you have misunderstood it.</p>

<p>He said Prasar Bharati will be strengthened and high priority would be given to better and informative programmes.</p>

<p>"It is not us vs them...It is not about two teams. It is about a collective responsibility that media becomes the voice of the people, whether it is Prasar Bharati or private network or channel. We will work in this direction," the Union minister said.</p>

<p>Mr Rathore, who was a junior minister in the ministry, said that in the last four years, the government was able to establish a two-way communication with the people of the country.</p>

<p>"We will continue to do that," he said.</p>

<p>On the challenges posed by social media, Mr Rathore said social media platforms were totally independent.</p>

<p>"We hope people put across their views with responsibility," he added.</p>

<p>After&nbspmuch anticipation built up among fans for&nbspRemo D'Souza directorial&nbspRace 3 its first trailer was finally released on Tuesday.</p>

<p>However, within just one day of the trailer launch, it has triggered a series of hilarious jokes on Twitter.&nbsp</p>

<p>The third instalment of action-thriller "Race"&nbspseries, "Race 3"&nbspis featuring Salman Khan as the new addition to the film along with Bobby Deol and Daisy Shah as well. From the old cast, Anil Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandes are in the film.</p>

<p>After viewing the trailer people on social media&nbspwere quick to point out the lack of script problem in the film as well as Salman firing missiles to destroy cars which immediately became a viral&nbspmeme.</p>

<p>Outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah turned "emotional" at a meeting of the party's new legislators on Wednesday while speaking on Congress' defeat in the assembly polls even as senior leaders blamed him for the result, news agency PTI reported quoting the party sources.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 69-year-old leader received flak from several senior party MLAs, who held him responsible for the Congress' performance, citing his complete authority in the selection of candidates and the Lingayat issue, they said.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Home Minister in the outgoing government Ramalinga Reddy said most of the MLAs were present at the meeting today except "three or four " who were on their way, but all were in touch".</p>

<p>Claiming that 117 MLAs were on their side, he said "despite this, if the Governor does not invite us, we will decide how to go further...We may also parade our strength."</p>

<p>Party sources aware of the developments said Siddaramaiah "kind of got emotional" as he spoke during the legislature party meeting of the Congress' loss despite his government's "good developmental works".</p>

<p>Siddaramaiah is also said to have cited "polarisation" as one of the factors that affected the party's prospects in the May 12 election.</p>

<p>The sources said 73 legislators, including one independent MLA, were present at the meet.</p>

<p>Six MLAs who were absent were in touch with party leaders over the phone, they said according to PTI.</p>

<p>A joint legislature party meeting of Congress and JD(S) MLAs is scheduled at a hotel here later today, following which Congress leaders are likely to be shifted to a resort on the outskirts of the city, the sources said, adding that JD(S)was expected to make a similar move.</p>

<p>In the May 12 polls, BJP emerged as the single largest party with 104 members, while Congress secured 78, the JD(S) 37 and others three.</p>

<p>Alleging that BJP was trying to poach Congress MLAs, Reddy said "they had done it in the past, they are trying to do it again, but they will not succeed... We are all together and will stay together."</p>

<p>"BJP has contacted five or six of our MLAs. They raised their hands when asked during the meeting today," he added.</p>

<p>The airline is likely to get operational in India with Airbus A-330 neos offering trips to North America and Europe at affordable prices.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Delhi will be the first city from where the airline will initially start its operations later expanding to other Indian cities.</p>

<p>There will be five direct flights in a week between India and Iceland that will then connect to destinations across North America and Europe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The airline plans to launch with a base fare of Rs 13,500, however, the overall fare, including the check-in baggage, meal charges, taxes, among other charges, is likely to amount to Rs 30,000. Fares will also depend on the surge in demand and seasonality.</p>

<p>The airline offers four fare classes -- Wow basic,&nbsp;Wow plus, Wow comfy and Wow premium. Flying to North America from India will take around 20 hours via Iceland.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At present, WOW airline flies to around 15 cities in the United States and around 39 destinations across North America and Europe.</p>

<p>The party is preparing the ground to move court in case of a negative response from the Raj Bhavan, party insiders said as reports came in of its MLAs in the southern state being taken to the governor in a show of strength.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We have staked our claim for formation of a government as we have the numbers as also the total vote share of over 56 per cent," added a senior party leader.</p>

<p>"All options remain open to the Congress," the party's communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala said when asked what the party would do if the governor invited the BJP to form government.</p>

<p>He said the governor is expected to listen to the mandate of the people.</p>

<p>Yesterday's results in Karnataka threw a fractured verdict with no party getting a simple majority.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The BJP emerged the single largest party with 104 seats but fell short of the half-way mark of 112.</p>

<p>Disinvestment-bound flag carrier Air India will phase out its remaining three Classic A320 planes, which are nearly three decades old, from the fleet by the end of this year.</p>

<p>The airline had in April 2014 announced its plans to retire all 14 single-isle double-bogey wheel planes from its fleet in a phased manner after it decided to induct more fuel-efficient Airbus A320 neo planes into operations.</p>

<p>Air India has already removed 11 classic A320 planes out of operations and the remaining three such aircrafts will be going out of the fleet by December this year, a senior company official told PTI.</p>

<p>The official said that though these planes are still flying, but they are carrying out limited operations.</p>

<p>"Most of the time these planes are on a standby mode and they perform one or two schedule flight in a day," the official said.</p>

<p>Earlier, the carrier had planned to retire these planes by March this year.</p>

<p>The Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) - one of Air India's pilots' bodies - had in 2015 termed these aged planes as "lethal and snag-prone" and demanded their grounding from aviation regulator DGCA in order to ensure passengers' safety.</p>

However, it gave up all gains to end modestly lower after the Congress unexpectedly stitched up a post-poll alliance with the JD(S) and staked claim to form the government.</p>

<p>The 50-share NSE Nifty too stayed in the red through the session and finally settled 60.75 points, or 0.56 per cent down at 10,741.10. Intra-day, it moved between 10,699.70 and 10,790.45.</p>

<p>On the macro front, trade deficit widened to $13.7 billion in April, which further affected momentum.</p>

<p>Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), who have been net sellers in the past few sessions, sold shares worth a net Rs 518.47 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 531.33 crore yesterday, according to provisional data.&nbsp</p>

<p>The CBI today filed its chargesheet against billionaire jeweller Mehul Choksi and 17 other entities, including companies owned by him and other individuals, in connection with the over $2 billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, officials said.<br />
The chargesheet was filed before a special CBI court in Mumbai.</p>

<p>In the chargesheet, pertaining to an FIR against Choksi, the Gitanjali group of companies and 16 other entities (including companies and individuals), the agency has slapped charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating and under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the officials said.</p>

<p>They added that this was a separate chargesheet from the one filed on May 14 against Choksi's nephew Nirav Modi and stressed that the present chargesheet pertained to the FIR against Choksi.</p>

<p>Supplementary chargesheets against Modi will also be filed soon, they said.</p>

<p>The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint from the PNB, dated February 13.</p>

<p>According to it, the alleged loss to the bank was over Rs 4,886 crore, arising out of 143 Letters of Undertaking (LoUs) and 224 Foreign Letters of Credit issued to the companies of Choksi, the officials said, adding that the total loss, allegedly perpetrated by the jeweller and his nephew Modi -- both absconding -- was over $2 billion.</p>

<p>It is alleged that the accused PNB officials, in a conspiracy with private persons, had sent the unauthorised LoUs and Foreign Letters of Credit to overseas branches of Indian banks for release of funds to the accused companies' suppliers or to clear the liabilities of the accused companies.</p>

<p>The accused PNB officials allegedly did not enter the instructions for these LoUs in their internal software to avoid scrutiny. They were sent through an international messaging system for banking called SWIFT, used to pass instructions among banks globally to transfer funds.</p>

<p>An LoU is a guarantee given by an issuing bank to Indian banks that have branches abroad to grant short-term credit to an applicant.</p>

<p>In case of default, the bank issuing the LoU has to pay the liability to the credit-giving bank.&nbsp</p>

<p>According to an official statement, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), working under the supervision of the Sub-Collector of East Godavari district's Rampachodavaram, all rescue teams were on the spot and working on the operation.</p>

<p>The statement also mentioned that so far, at least 20 families had contacted Government officials with reports of missing cases.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is noteworthy that 17 people had been rescued so far, while others are still missing.</p>

<p>According to police, the boat sailed from Devipatnam to reach Kondamodalu at 3.30 pm on Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the incident on Twitter.</p>

Sonam Kapoor is not even back from making heads turn at Cannes Film Festival this year and she is already in news for having hurt the Sikh community during her wedding ceremony. It is being reported that a few members of the Sikh community are not happy with what took place during the wedding ceremony. Apparently, their religious sentiments were hurt after the couple violated a Sikh tradition. According to a report published in a tabloid, some former office bearers of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) have reportedly accused the current SGPC members of not removing Anand’s kalgi (brooch) from his turban during the ceremony. According to Sikh tradition, in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib, the kalgi has to be removed during the marriage rituals. Now that the SGPC staffers forgot to take it off, the former office-bearers have brought this to the notice of the Akal Takht.
