With more and more television actors finding their calling in Bollywood, it seems to be a good time for TV stars to try their acting skills on the big screen. After TV’s Naagin Mouni Roy bagged a few films, her beau Mohit Raina who is most famously known for his portrayal of Lord Shiva in the mythological show, Devon Ke Dev - Mahadev -- will soon be making his Bollywood debut with Uri.
The film Uri will have the actor play the role of an Indian Army Officer. It will be set in the state of Jammu and Kashmir as the movie will revolve around the 2016 Uri attack which left 19 Indian soldiers dead. It was after this that the Indian Army retaliated and a series of surgical strikes took place across the borders.
Mohit has a fair idea of playing an army officer as he was last seen playing the same role for a TV show. Talking about the film and his role, Mohit said, “It was my dream to join the Indian Army. Since that never got fulfilled, I make up for it by playing a soldier whenever I get a chance. Also, I have always taken up challenging roles on television. So, though I love commercial films, I wanted something different for my film debut as well. Uri has actors like Vicky Kaushal and Paresh Rawal, and it will be a learning experience working with them. Whether it is mythology, history or any other genre, the role has to be backed by strong content.”
In his personal opinion on the Uri attack, Mohit added, “Nation always comes first, and I feel that it is a great opportunity to be part of a film that portrays the incident.”
