A truck's CNG cylinder exploded while being filled at a Tikri Kalan fuel pump in Delhi, killing three people—including the station operator—and injuring several others.
Two people were killed and four others injured after a fire broke out in a cylinder-laden truck, triggering an explosion and blaze at a CNG pump in Delhi on Wednesday (Aug 19), police said. The incident took place at a fuel station in Tikri Kalan. Delhi Police confirmed the two fatalities, identifying both deceased as employees of the petrol pump.
The incident was reported to authorities at around 3.46 pm. Police, fire services and other emergency personnel reached the spot and began rescue and relief operations. The four injured people were taken to hospital for treatment. One of them is reported to be in critical condition, officials said.
The fire broke out in the truck carrying CNG cylinders before an explosion occurred at the pump. Emergency services rushed to the spot to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading. The exact circumstances that led to the fire and subsequent explosion have not yet been established. Police are examining the site and assessing the extent of the damage.
