The Central Bureau of Investigation has sought an extension of Karti Chidambaram's custody for 14 days.

Chidambaram was produced in the Delhi Patiala Court on Thursday in connection with the hearing in INX Media case. 

The CBI said "Interrogation has only taken place for a short time.He did appear for interrogation but remained evasive.Custodial interrogation is completely different'.

The CBI's demand for a further extension of his custody came after the expiration of the one-day police custody.

The Court has also reserved order on the bail plea of Chidambaram's Chartered Accountant S Bhaskaran who will remain in jail till March 7. 

The CBI has claimed on having documents which prove clear links of Karti Chidambaram and various companies. 

The CBI said "We have emails and invoices indicating money was given to Advantage Strategic Consultancy Private Limited (ASCPL) in the time period when INX media received favours".

The CBI also said that the purpose of the initial custody was defeated when Karti was shifted to Cardiac Care Unit. 

The CBI added that Karti's medical examination was surprising as he was perfectly fine in the morning.

On the other hand, Kart's counsel Abhishek Manu Sanghvi has negated the demands of CBI saying " There is no ground for custodial interrogation".

He said " How can CBI claim non-cooperation when they have not issued summons? All documents are in their possession".

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram was arrested on Wednesday from Chennai Airport, thereafter, he was sent to one-day CBI custody by Delhi's Patiala House Court.

Karti was arrested in connection with the INX Media money laundering case.
